For May 2018. I would welcome a practical couple or 2 people to stay for up to a month and help me get ready for B and B, and some simple building and landscaping projects in the garden, such as rebuilding raised beds.

Useful skills would be simple carpentry, decorating, gardening, sewing, cleaning. I have noticed that a practical approach combined with attention to detail and positivity are as valuable as skills or experience.

My home is an old mill in a large village in mid Wales. It's a quiet house and garden on the riverside and its about 5 miles from the sea. There are train stations at the nearest towns Aberystwyth, and Machynlleth and buses to the village. This is a beautiful area with many walks and the Wales Coastal Path passes 2 miles from the house. Talybont is a friendly lively place, with 2 pubs, shops, hairdresser. We have pub quizes and sometimes live music.

The two nearest towns are Aberystwyth (University and Arts Centre)and Machynlleth, (regular festiva... more inside

We have a smallholding (small farm) in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK. We have a small flock of sheep, chickens, ducks, two friendly dogs and one cat.

Our land borders a river and so is on the slope of the river valley. It is not overlooked and is very peaceful. We have many grassland areas with some that we are developing into wildflower meadows and some areas of woodland. It's the perfect place for stargazing.

We would like to host people here who are able to help with general tasks around the holding, including coppicing, bramble clearance, ditch digging and clearing, helping with animal-related jobs when necessary, and any other tasks which arise during the everyday running of the farm. During wet weather, there are maintenance tasks around the house. We would welcome anyone also who has specific skills, such as carpentry, plumbing or building. We work from home and so are around and about but we would like our Helpx guests to work with the minimum of supervision.

We are a family run bed and breakfast with an adjoining farm! The bed and breakfast is a 18th Century hunting lodge so as you can imagine with an old house plenty to do! We are currently in the process of refurbishing some of the rooms in the house but one of the main jobs we are currently undertaking is landscaping the gardens. We are also working on the kitchen garden and need to start preparing plants etc in the greenhouse.
We have a restaurant serving evening meals and weekend lunches
We are a family run business and have a number of staff, we all live on-site with our children, pets and horses.
We have a farm on the Gower Peninsula (15 minute walk away from the beach) and are about half an hours drive from Swansea.
We live in a lovely rural area but it is rural. You will need to get public transport to get around or walk. The help will be 5 days a week, either mornings, days or evenings but no more than 5 hours a day. This covers your accommodation in a large static carava... more inside

Hi,
We are Welsh speaking family, situated almost on the shore of Bala Lake, the biggest natural lake in Wales in the south of Snowdonia National Park and yes, the surrounding area is stunning. Bala is within walking distance and is a small market town with a few shops and a leisure centre which has a swimming pool.

We live on an acre of land that has woodland a stream and a garden which is managed organically and we have one permanent and one temporary polytunnel to grow our food. We have chickens, a dog and a few cats. We are on a very low income so our life style may seem quite simple to you. We use as little electricity and water as possible, fell our own wood for heating and our diet is mostly simple, homemade but nourishing.

Our property is vegetarian and is the ethos of how the land is managed and how we live.
Accommodation is a small 4 berth caravan which can accommodate 2 adults and two young children. There is no electricity or water to the caravan, the simple li... more inside

I am setting up a wild life haven in 2 acres of land, with woodland and ponds, recently renovated the property and a barn as a holiday let, and have both decorating and gardening work to be done. Llys Ifor "found" me in March 2016 and it has a magic which I want to share with people and give a welcome to folk from around the world. An ex-stage manager who is now a life coach, this new adventure in the mountains, with a river and views of the sea, has been spectacular for me and the small community of Nebo have been welcoming and supportive while I lived in a caravan. Now the renovations are nearly complete I have a lovely home and a holiday cottage and need help with the landscape and art projects and general maintenance and upkeep.

Rural community of around 12 permanent members managing about 8 of our 35 hectares. Help needed with gardens, forestry, from planting to on-site timber production, animals, construction and general help around the farm including some cooking, preserving and other kitchen and domestic tasks. We usually ask for around six hours a day, five days a week, however this is flexible. Some tasks are quite physically demanding. We tend to work shorter hours at these. Lighter tasks are always available if you feel it is too much for you.

We prefer that you plan on staying with us a full two weeks if you have no relevant experience. This is to ensure that both us and you gain from your stay. Shorter stays are fine if you have relevant previous experience.
All our work on the land is organic, permaculture used as our basic method.
We also have workshops on site where we do our own maintenance and fabrication.
We host events and camping in the summer months.
There are several small bus... more inside

we are a smallholding in the mid wales hills, at 950feet altitude. we get quite a bit of rain... but all the seasons are stunning. we breed carriage horses and drive them at weddings and other events in season. We also run a renewables company part time and are building and renovating 2 barns/cottages on our yard ready for holiday homes. We are also renovating the farmhouse and sorting the garden out...

We would love to have helpers to come and help with everything from building work (my husband is a qualified builder, electrician, plasterer, plumber.. some days go with him to help with his renewables work, some days help with the horses and carriages, plus daily stable help, help in general maintenance preparing for the holiday makers, help in the house and so on. we make out own hay and maintain our own fields.. not enough hours in the day.

Accommodation would be in a 2 bed static caravan near the house. happy for meals to be shared or taken separately if you prefer sometim... more inside

Communally run 80-acre organic farm. We eat, work & make decisions together whilst sharing a large Welsh stone farmhouse and its outbuildings. We aim to live as lightly as we can with deep consideration and respect for our planet, each other and ourselves. All our power is produced by sun, wind, and water; we grow as much of our food as we can, we use our tractor for carting and haymaking, goats for milk and cheese and aspire to live life slowly enough to enjoy the rich pleasures of this glorious land.

Unfortunately, we can't accept volunteers flying just to spend time with us as the environmental cost of flying far out-weighs the benefit of your visit. Please see our website and Facebook page for more info.

During our volunteer weeks, we offer meals and accommodation for about 5.5 hours of helping a day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and about 3.5 hours work on a Wednesday morning. At the weekend, and on Wednesday afternoon, your time is your own, to explore the surro... more inside
