Come help out in the Bird Creek organic garden at Elk Ridge Ranch! We grow using only organic methods, and through a focus on crop and ecosystem biodiversity along with healthy and thriving soil, our gardens are a community of life! Not only are we continuously learning and open to new and great ideas, but there is always room for individual projects if an intern has the drive to create. We sell our veggies at the local farmers market twice a week - in Bloomington, IN and Louisville, KY, as well as use the fresh produce for juice in the elk ridge detoxifying cleanse programs. We try to cultivate not only the earth, but also a fun, interactive and educational environment for our interns and visitors. In addition to the gardens, there is plenty to do on the ranch and in the surrounding areas including our golf course, wine grape vineyards, milk goats, laying hens, fishing and swimming pond, workout facilities, and the beautiful Hoosier National Forest.

As an intern you will lear... more inside

We are a 200 acre pasture based dairy sheep operation (100 acres dedicated to wildlife refuge) located in lake country (8 small lakes within two miles of farm), 10 miles south of the Crex Meadows 30,000 acre wildlife refuge and five miles from Governor Knowles state forest(NW WI). Our farm is low tech and predator friendly..this style of farming has worked well for us for the past 20 years. We farm with approx 8 livestock guardian dogs for sheep protection, and border collies used for herding sheep. Daily chores could possibly include milking dairy sheep, or a few cows or a couple of goats, or bottle feeding kid goats, lambs and calves, or help moving sheep and cows to pastures ..need to like working with dogs but don't need to be an expert, just need to be willing, and help preparing meals when needed. Also, we make amazing artisan wood fired pizza on a weekly basis, if you would like to help with the pizza or in the house that is also possible. We raise the sheep organically on ... more inside

We are in year 2 of our new 30 acre sustainable farm outside La Plata in Northeast Missouri. We need help to get the farm started and care for our 17 month old child! Helping with cooking, dishes, and baby care would be great! As well as some work on our many farm projects.

We are part of a larger 160 acre community with our close neighbors who run an intentional community and outdoor education center. All three communities are dedicated to integral nonviolence (meaning to self, others, earth, institutions, etc.) including electricity & petroleum free living, gift economy, communal living, simplicity, etc. We live a simple life on the farm (which we very much enjoy!). We have two buildings on the land: a medium-sized barn/workshop that acts as our office, community hangout, tool storage area, storm shelter…and a small one room cabin that we hope to be completed by the winter. Some of the projects we are working on are: finishing cabin, improving basic living systems (compostin... more inside
