Small friendly organic market garden in west of Scotland with herd of milking goats, about ten miles from Glasgow city centre. We set up the farm 25 years ago to provide young people with training in natural goat-keeping and all aspects of organic growing, such as permaculture. biodynamic methods and other innovative and time-saving methods.

We are looking for volunteers to join us for long or short stays (minimum three weeks) who want to know more about goats, growing food and survival methods such as saving seed. In return for about six hours work a day you will enjoy healthy organic food and stay in a heated caravan.

The work can sometimes be hard but we have a lot of fun!

Sadly these days, since we had some crazy folk here in the past, we have found that we have to ask people wanting to come and live with us for a reference, and to let us have the name, occupation,(farmer, other host, previous boss, lecturer or teacher) and telephone number of the referee. We have had ... more inside

Our home is set in a valley in the beautiful rolling hills of Mid Devon with wonderful walks for those who like the out doors. Accommodation provided is a room in our home. We have BT Broadband so you can connect your laptop for free internet use. Mobile phone connection is very patchy here due to being tucked away in a valley.

At the moment we could use some general
help round the place, including gardening, walking the dogs, decluttering and help with our 3 horses, mucking out etc. Basically varied duties.

English speaking people over 23 are welcome for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week staying for one or two weeks.

We welcome fit, healthy, (no hay fever or asthmatics suffers due to farm living!) honest, down to earth people who are not work shy, proactive and get on with things and can work on their own, oh and have and have a good sence of humour.

If you are flying over then Exeter airport is about 30 mins away from us. If coming by train There is a train station i... more inside

When based in UK I am a forestry contractor, always busy with various harvesting operations, also am doing building projects and have gardens that need completion and maintenance at home.
I also have a house in Finistere, Brittany where I aim to set up a tipi holiday site with adjacent shower block, kitchen and drying facilities, which all need building into an existing old shippen. This is likely to be done April 2017, with an aim to have the site ready to use from May ?? Persons can be involved in either project, or both, and travel as a team to and fro. Accomodation is likely to be caravan in both instances

We are an educational charity and centre for learning about low-impact living, run by a resident community with the help of short- and medium-term volunteers.

The Charity owns a Victorian mansion built in 1848 which currently serves as B&B accommodation for participants on courses offered at the centre, as well as other visitors. The grounds include a Victorian walled garden and fruit garden and small working farm as well as terraced lawns, woods, pasture and a stream.

We are looking for volunteers to help run the B&B house and grounds in return for food, lodging in volunteer accommodation, and a taste of communal living. Daily jobs include housekeeping, assisting in the main kitchen, gardening, helping the dairy farmer and maintenance work such as construction, decorating and organising. Some of the work is physically demanding and volunteers will usually rotate between different jobs according to current necessity, working roughly 35 hours per week, with two days per week o... more inside

We are a small holding on the Southern slopes of the Lammermuir hills looking out over the Tweed valley towards the Cheviot hills. This is a very peaceful rural location. We are renovating an old farm cottage using green oak framing and traditional stone mason skills. Anyone with these skills or enthusiasm to learn and good attention to detail will be most welcome. There will be additional opportunities to use or develop skills in timber frame building and welding. We keep a small flock of geese and assistance with these and general household tasks is also on the agenda. Simon is a forest manager and part-time saw miller so there will be opportunities to use or develop skills in these fields too. We stay in a mobile home with wood burner and compost loo. We also have a wood fuelled hot water boiler to provide baths/showers. We usually prepare and eat meals communally. Sleeping accommodation for visitors is in a separate touring caravan. We have no children but a dog who thinks s... more inside

Hi!

We are Angie & John, a couple in our fifties with a large garden, a dog and two cats. We enjoy having people from around the world to stay and sharing cultures.

We would like a couple that enjoy being outdoors and working on the land. It would be a plus if you have interests in permaculture and organic gardening.

We have a permaculture garden in the process of construction. The work will mostly be on the garden, accept on the rainy days where there would be a few odd jobs around the house such as seed sewing, cooking dinner, painting and dog walking. We try to keep the work interesting and varied. We expect 4-5 hours a day 5 days a week, with two full days off.

Stroud is a small town with plenty of countryside to explore, with beautiful scenery and alternative culture.

Look forward to hearing from you

Angie and John
