I have recently taken over the family farm which has been left idle for the past number of years. My aim is to restore the farm back to its former glory so there is a lot to do in getting it there. Help in doing this would be hugely appreciated. Things I need to do this year would include replacing fencing, clearing the land, planting trees/hedging, re-establishing the vegetable garden, fruit bushes and flower beds, bringing in the turf from the bog, filling the woodshed, getting in hay for the horses, ponies and donkeys, looking after the animals, filling the freezer and cupboards for the winter months along with general household chores like cooking and cleaning. As Irish weather is so unpredictable and because I live in a midge metropolis what we get done on a day to day basis varies considerably. My ethos here is self sufficiency, sustainability and being eco friendly. As I also have a full time job (but work from home quite a bit) it is important that my helpers are self motiva... more inside

I have a coffee house in Ennis town centre and I am looking for someone to help out in the cafe from mid January. My house is 2 minutes from the cafe, hidden away in a quiet part of the town centre. I have a double room which will be free from mid January. You can move in (with another housemate and I) and come and go as you please. The house is a quiet one these days but, we are both partial to the odd good beer and listening to a bit of music.
Help required in the cafe is fairly straightforward, but I do specialise in coffee; serving single origin coffee so will gladly teach you all I know. Roughly 25-30 hours per week and you will be well fed there for the duration of your stay. I will also top up your funds by 50 per week.

Ennis is a very interesting, almost bohemian town. Lots of music, history and things to do for free.

We are a family with three young children that is in the process of establishing an organic mixed farm on land directly opposite Slane Castle. The castle and its lands has been in our family since 1703 and is world renowned for it's annual outdoor rock concerts which feature Bon Jovi and Eminem in 2013.

We are now looking to build a series of buildings out straw bales and timber with the straw that comes from the barley fields on the farm. This includes our new farmhouse, an office and the 'Limehouse' which is a communal building that will serve our luxury eco-camp on the farm that includes canvas yurts. We also have a working farm which includes rare breed cattle, pigs, chickens, dogs and veggies.

The main focus on the farm at the moment is building the straw bale buildings where you will get the chance to learn how to build with this amazing natural material. Once the straw walls are built then we apply clay and lime renders, also local, natural materials that are fun to wo... more inside
