This farm is deep in the forest of the Yarra Valley, east of Melbourne, in Southern Australia. We run a small organic farm with a CSA and supply to a local farmers market during our season which runs from January to June.
We have been building our mud brick home for the past 3 years and have 3 daughters who attend the local Steiner school.
We are passionately committed to living lightly and sustainably and enjoy a peaceful and beautiful local environment.
We are keen for helpers to enable us to continue to bring our dream into being- and we have much knowledge to share with helpers.
We will welcome helpers in the spring of 2014- keen to hear from those happy to help with landscaping around our new house, and the busy time of preparing soil and planting for the summer growing season.

Hi helpers,

I am new to this but I have been having alot of fun and have met alot of people from couch surfing over the last 12 months. Actually I think its really been great to meet all sorts of different people and I feel that I enjoy having guests as much as surfers like having a free couch ;)

I thought id try helpx to see what kind of helpers are around Melbourne, actually I think if I was travelling I would like to be a helper.

Basically if you have saved up some money for traveling and would like to not spend it all on a backpackers acommodation then I get it, you can do a couple of little jobs at your leisure and not have to worry about rent

I don't have a farm but I have lots of ideas and could use some help activating a few projects if your interested.

I have a three bedroom house in Coburg
which is 13km north of the CBD. And I am a 5 minute walk to the last stop of the number 1 tram.

There is lots to do on the north side of the city, and its where a... more inside

This is on an 80 hectare beef farm, in the rolling hills of North East Victoria, near the Snowy Mountains.

There is the main house, including 2 B&B rooms & bathroom, a fsc 2 bedroom cottage, and 1 room bungalow, volunteer accomodation would probably be in the bungalow (with a double futon, single bed, & reverse heating/cooling), or possibly in the cottage if not rented at the time.

We run a small flock of Wiltshire sheep and Red deer. The organic vegetable garden and orchard is in need of proper establishment and maintenance, and the re-establishment of chickens after some fencing. There is unlimited wifi access at the house and bungalow, and dietary preferences such as paleo, raw vegan, dairy free, and gluten free can all be catered for.

Ideally volunteers would be physically fit, over 21yrs, non-smoker, definitely no drugs, and happy to work 4-6 hrs per day for 5-6 days per week, depending on task. A driver's licence is handy but not essential. Jobs could include carpent... more inside

In exchange for food, accommodation (your own caravan) and internet access you would hang out with my kids while I work on some days/nights. Kids are aged 12, 15 and 18. Almost every second week-end my son goes and stays at their Dad's place. We need a friendly person who can help with some of the household duties e.g. cleaning, cooking, bringing in the washing ** There's always something to be done. I don't like to ask so you'll need your own motivation to look around & help out :) Please don't apply if you aren't going to help with things around the house !!!!!!
Over the School Holidays I need someone to help look after my son & to keep an eye on what the girls are doing while I work a few days & also on the nights that I waitress in a restaurant.
We live on the Southern Mornington Peninsula surrounded by surf & sand of the beautiful beaches, National Parks & scenic walks. There is a lot to see and do & it's only about a 5 minutes drive (or 15 minute walk) to the beach from o... more inside

Natalie and Nils, 3 year old Wolfgang Jack and another on the way, a cat and 7 chickens, living in a beautiful 1860s house on 3 acres in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria.

Lots of gardening needs to be done so I'd appreciate help with that. Weeding, mowing, pruning, collecting firewood. There are small jobs assisting our renovations, and the odd bit of cooking teamwork!

We are only an hour away from Melbourne, and a short drive from the direct train line with plenty of trains into the city every day. Our local area has many beautiful towns with markets, and lots of beautiful national parks and natural attractions. We have a lot of local bird and wildlife.
