The farm is located in the lowlands of Guanacaste & is situated on the pristine Rio Tenorio, (Tenorio River). We have over 400m of river front & along a small part of this area we are planting & building. The property slopes up to low hills & is mostly virgin, without even trails. We are located just about 6km east of the interamerican HWY between Canas & Bagaces. Originally from San Francisco, I have been in Costa Rica for 21 years, exploring the country & raising my daughters. I have long wanted a farm & was finally able to acquire this practically virgin property almost 4 years ago. The objective is many fold, starting with organic farming & raising a limited number of happy & healthy chickens, goats & sheep. Already I have received two biologists studying fish behavior (one PhD) & am looking forward to more interns & scientific investigations & study. It is also a great place for young people looking to come for woodworking, botany or any other compatible activities. Proje... more inside

Searching for motivated Spanish speaking couple to work on voluntary base at a very remote, ocean view jungle location. To work with us you need to have sufficient experience and scales in organic farming to be able to operate and administrate a small organic farm in a humid tropical climate. Together with two local workers, you will have to manage this project part time by yourself. We run our farm with the principles of permaculture. If you have some experience, we look forward to share these with you. We offer basic housing and food in exchange for help. Food preparations you do yourself. Your house does not have a stove, but is equipped with fireplace to cook. On the property we have solar electricity, but not installed at your home. We don't expect you to work all day ( 5 hours), but after working hours our sheep need to be locked in at 5pm for instance, so presentence is necessary. We have no internet installed, but there is a good 3g telephone connection. Internet connection... more inside
