Hello, we are Rachel and Dennis. We live with our daughter Connor, aged 15 and son Hunter aged 13, on a lifestyle block on the edge of Pukaha Mt Bruce, a native bird reserve, as a result we receive visits from many native birds including Kaka, Tui and Kereru to our block. Also in the area are bush walks and some fishing.
We have a variety of animals, a friendly dog who lives outdoors, a cat who is mostly an outside pet, a house cow with her calves, horses, a small flock of sheep, a bunch of chickens and 2 hives of bees.

We are working towards becoming a self sustaining property and as a result at times we have interesting projects on the go such as cheese making, hide curing, etc, and a philosophy that if we can buy it in the shop, surely we can make it (although sometimes not, as it turns out). We enjoy good food and people who like to cook are always welcome. Please inform of any dietary requirements.

We have many projects including building, gardening, firewood and fencin... more inside

Hiya,

Iím a bar manager in Foxton Beach. The house is two bedrooms. My room and a spare room with a double bed, bunk and single mattress.
The house is an old 1900s house on a quarter acre section based in Shannon.
There are a few local attractions in Shannon including Owlcatraz (an owl sanctuary) and it is the white water rafting capital of NZ. Further to this, about a 15minute drive away is the beautiful Foxton Beach. 30 minutes from Palmerston North and 10 minutes from the local city of Levin.

I bought this house a year ago and am looking for help with the gardens, painting and decorating and building.
In exchange, I can offer free short term accommodation and food.

I am an easy going person who is very sociable. I love meeting new people and have done my fair share of travelling before settling in Shannon.
I have one 11 year old staffy and a cat who are both extremely friendly.

We are hoping to find our next Helpx from end of June or early July.

We have both traveled and lived with other families so we know what it's like being in someone else's home far away. We also know what it's like when you just need a break from hostels and all the other travelers and a place to collect your thoughts and make your next travel plans. I used to find hostels felt so dirty and public and hard to keep your belongings safe and make your next travel plans. We hope our home can be a nice experience for you for you to see some of the area and experience our lifestyle and plan your next travel destination.

We have a 22 month old boy who's a really easy cheerful toddler and my partner works long hours contracting on farms and I started a new business this year so we could just do with some extra hands to help with household chores, cooking, looking after our toddler and cleaning. We start work around 6 and he needs walking to his daycare at 8am so we would leave him wit... more inside

We are a farming family looking for an au pair or traveller single or couple that has experience working with young children and running a household to join our family for several weeks. Either short or long term.

You would enjoy free accommodation & meals as well as experience living in rural NZ.

You will need to have initiative, be organised, be an outside person, happy and outgoing and have your own vehicle (just for your own independence).

We have 3 active boys 9yrs ,7yrs and 4yrs. All love to play outside, ride their bikes, and play rugby.

Ideally we are looking for someone to help out from Wednesday to Friday and some weekends. Monday, Tuesday and some weekends would be free for travelling, therefore having your own vehicle would be ideal.

My husband works on the farm and I work from home as well as training for multisport/adventure racing events.

Help around the house and garden would also be appreciated- washing and helping with the housework/cleaning/we... more inside

Hi, I live within walking distance of Greytown, a boutique town in the heart of the Wairarapa, on a two acre lifestyle block. There is a bus to the train station to travel to Wellington or a 25min trip by bus to Masterton.
As I work full-time I am looking for a helping hand inside and outside my home for a maximum of four hours per-day (negotiable, depending on jobs) in exchange for accommodation (in a large sleep out close to the house). I have six children, with only my youngest two still at home, but am regularly visited by the others. We have been hosts for four exchange students in the past and have really enjoyed this experience.
Ideally, the best candidate/s would be flexible and could turn their hand to a number of tasks, i.e. cooking, cleaning, mowing, gardening, and looking after my few animals.
