This is a small, unique and busy top rated backpackers in Picton. We'd like some help for up to 3 hours a day helping on reception or making beds, gardening, cleaning or outside work when weather allows. (Likely 2 hours in the morning and one in the evening). This is work exchange - we will provide you in return with accommodation and use of all our facilities including unlimited wifi, bikes, use of a range of juggling equipment, kitchen basics laundry and organic garden produce. We'll pay you a weekly wage and the above expenses will be deducted from them so you will need an IRD number and a visa that allows you to work in New Zealand. This reflects the previous woofer program that was running ie working for accommodation etc. I am also looking for a manager for the season - minimum 3 month stay. This is a paid and live in position and your work will be varied.
An interest in juggling or circus is important :-) You may not be a juggler when you arrive but we hope that you will hav... more inside

Hi to all, we are a family of four in the Pelorus Sounds, Marlborough. Our closest port is Havelock.
We are looking for easy going people to join our family and help around our place.
We are pretty self-sufficient, and even milk a cow for fresh milk every day!
We have a large sheep farm, and are boat access only, because of our isolation we cannot host people with serious medical conditions, food allergies or picky eaters, Sorry.
We are also a smoke free family.
The best way to get to us is on the mailboat, which runs on a Wednesday.
We would love some help with lots of different jobs, such as on the farm, but also with gardening, and household duties.
We ask that you work around 4 hours a day in return for a place to stay and meals.
We have alternative power, and internet is available.
We like to do a weeks trial with people to make sure we all get along before committing to longer stays.
You must be able to get on with kids and animals, and not mind working by yourself ... more inside

We are a family of six with three children still at home. Our children are homeschooled and together we manage the sheep and beef farm that we live on. The farm is very isolated on a island, it is very beautiful and wild. We like help with gardening and general farmwork. There is opportunity for fishing, hunting deer and pigs, kayaking and bushwalking. We like to meet people from all around the world. You would need to get on well with children and large dogs and be happy away from technology for the duration of your stay. We are a 3/4 hour four wheel drive trip, 20 minute boat ride and then a 2 and a half hour drive to either Nelson or Blenheim so if you come here you need to bring all necessary items needed for the duration of your stay as you would not be able to shop until you leave. Because of the isolation and the cost of getting here we generally like people to stay between three to six weeks.

We are looking for a person, to work with us in the gardens. Our property has intensive gardens and a small olive grove established around our home, a 1911 Victorian villa, that are open to the public through the spring, summer and early autumn seasons.

Being open to the public means we aim to maintain our gardens to the highest standard and would love to have someone to help who knows the difference between a weed and flower, preferably with gardening experience. Short term guests preferred, 1 week.

You will stay in our home, with your own bedroom and share meals with us. We are situated 10 mins from town in a semi rural area with wineries even closer. We have bikes for use and we are within walking distance to nearest shopping centre. Also only 10 minutes by car into town centre.

We are a couple in our 60's living on a beautiful rural property just north of Blenheim. We have a small engineering business here plus a vineyard planted in Pinot Gris which we maintain ourselves and this is rather labour intensive from October to February. We have a few sheep, some hens and two cats. We try to be self sufficient as much as possible so have many fruit trees, and large vegetable gardens. Our house is modern and includes two spare rooms complete with a spare bathroom.
Helping here would be a pleasant experience because you would be fed well and treated kindly. Jobs are many and varied, depending on the time of year. Mostly, however it would be helping in the vineyard, or keeping the vege garden and section tidy. I have recently started propagating plants to sell so that also provides things to do.As my husband is the engineer and I am the "land girl" helping would not involve anything that I wouldn't normally do myself !! Hours would be approx 5 a day.Demand is seaso... more inside
