We are looking for an individual or couple to help out for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week to build our straw bale house and work on our hobby farm. There is flexibility as to the number of hours, and the time of day. Some weekend help may be required as you will be assisting us with the build (which fits around our day jobs), but these days can be swapped for weekdays off. For every 3 weeks help we offer 1 week off to spend as you wish.

Some of the tasks involved have a physical element, so a basic level of fitness is required. Some tasks may include the use of power tools and machinery, but only if you are comfortable using them. Some tasks can be completed independently, whilst others will involve assisting us. Training and guidance will be provided where required.

We are looking for helpers that are comfortable working independently or as part of a larger team, keen to learn new skills, have a good work ethic and take pride in what they do.

There are lots of aspects of... more inside

My large sloping forested block is located on a water-access-only island in Pittwater in the northern part of Sydney, reached by ferry or boat. The island is a protected spotted gum forest but is also home to about 700 people and has a community hall, a kindergarten and a fire brigade (See the Community website at http://www.scotlandisland.org.au/community/). Scotland Island is a friendly community with various activities available, such as yoga. The work on my property is mainly weeding and planting and other outdoor jobs. Some construction work is possible if helpers have those skills. Accommodation is downstairs in a bedroom with queen size bed and new ensuite shower and toilet, with own entrance. There is also a small room with table, chairs, a fridge, kettle and other simple provisions for making tea and coffee, and breakfast and lunch (with the food I provide). Food provided is vegetarian.

We live in a beautiful farm house in Byron Bay hinterland, near Bangalow in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, known for its vibrant alternative community. I am currently painting our house interior, planting and gardening, and there are so many projects I am interested bringing to the property!

Occasionally it would be nice to have someone to play with and look after my son who is 4. I would love to host people who genuinely LOVE kids and are patient and friendly and have the time for them :)

We don`t have a TV in the house :) Our home is a sanctuary and a quiet space.. You also have your own seperate room or depending on whats available, mate the tiny house truck, these are at the outside of the house to have your own space.

My son attends Waldorf school 3 days per week, and it would be such an added bonus to have someone with some beliefs in Waldorf! :)

I would love to have someone stay who I can learn from, in the areas of permaculture, and how to make my property... more inside
