We have work for one person for at least one week, in the orchard from 25 July.

We are able to provide all documents to satisfy second year visa. We have recently had 3 of our helpers achieve their second year visa after audit by Dept of immigration.

We have a 10 acre (4 hectare) commercial walnut orchard fronting onto the Coal River, with 4 bedroom house on 30 acres (12 hectare). You will have your own bedroom, bathroom and living area within the main house. We have wifi throughout the house and good internet access.

We live 3 kms outside historic Richmond, 1/2 hr drive from Hobart. There is a bus to Hobart but life is much easier if you have your own car. Often we are going to Hobart and can give you a lift. We also have bikes you can borrow to ride around the area.

We have hosted many travellers from around the world and really enjoy the cultural exchange this opportunity provides. However, we are non smokers and request that only non smokers apply.

The property has been designed using Permaculture principles, and Biodynamic preparations are also used. We grow our own fruit and vegetables, and are developing a small blueberry farm. We harvest our own firewood and water and the house is solar powered.

We are carnivorous, but can cater for vegetarians. We are also smokers and have a dog. Accommodation is a self contained campervan or camping on the property, with meals and use of facilities in the house.

Work would involve four hours per day of general gardening, orchard tree care, blueberry picking in season (Jan-Feb), firewood, brushcutting etc.
The property overlooks a beautiful valley, and there is lots of bushwalking available in the nearby Western Tiers. There are many flat roads for cycling, and Lake Huntsman close by for kayaking and swimming.

There are buses to Deloraine, 18 kms away, from which pickup can be arranged.

DOES ANYONE LIKE THE COLD?

I am a City Host with a big old house and large garden. There is always work to be done in the garden: mulching, weeding, trimming back bushes, sweeping. Painting if you enjoy that kind of work. The house always needs some tidying and dusting, etc.
I am a seasoned traveller (lived/worked in Hong Kong for the past 13 years as an English teacher for the HK Education Dept) and so can help in language aquisition if required.
I have friends who are Helpx/Wwoof hosts who can also offer you work, if you are interested in variety; they can offer second Work Visa (I cannot)
Often we 'share' our Helpers so they get a great well-rounded experience,: a city experience and a bush/country experience.

I am right in the city of Hobart, just 15 mins walk to the CBD, and close to the main route leading south to the famous Tasmanian wilderness area.

Get in touch if you are interested and let's have a chat.
Roz

We run a home based beekeeping business (100 hives), we have gardens, fruit trees, 3 young horses under 12 mths and 4 chooks. We do not smoke and use no chemicals on our property, Our bees are cared for organically too. Help needed is mainly garden based, or in winter helping refurbish bee gear. In Summer the opportunity may arise that helpers can learn to extract honey and visit other locations where the bees are kept.

We are a tourism business specialising in Horse riding at Kimberley (near Sheffield, Bakers Beach and Cradle Mountain.

We have 35 horses including young and retired ones.

The work depends of what's needed at the time. It includes but is not limited to: cleaning up the shearers quarters or the house, cutting chaff, shovelling horse manure, catching horses in the bush, getting horses ready when clients are coming for a ride, baby-sitting, painting, weeding, etc.

( ps : horse riding is not considered as work :-)

Sometimes you might go to Cradle Mountain with us for the day and help us there with the horses and join for a ride.

Non-smokers only.

You must enjoy being around children as we have two boys ( 5 and 18 months old) who are homeschooled and spend a lot of time with us on the farm!

Your accommodation is in the shearing quarters in Kimberley (about 800m from our house) shared with other helpers and customers -

We provide all your food.

We would like to host people who are willing to help us with daily activities around our home and garden.
Working in the flower and vegetable gardens is the main activity. Other jobs around our land involve weeds and unwanted vegetation, fences need fixing or removing and some jobs need a bit of muscle and stamina and can`t be finished in a short time. Some examples of that are: wheeling heavy wheelbarrow loads of mulch, compost and firewood, in which you might meet spiders and other small creatures, most of which are harmless; digging garden beds, turning out compost bins and building new bins and heaps. And much more. We have sandy soil which is easy to dig and doesn`t turn to mud when it rains, and a country bush garden full of native birds and some animals, a joy to work in for people who love the outdoor life.

If the outdoor work doesn`t appeal and you are a capable indoor person you could do the housework needed each day to keep a household properly fed, clean and ... more inside
