*** AUGUST helpers needed!!
At the moment we only have space for helpers who are willing to camp (bringing their own tent, sleeping bag etc) in exchange for just 2-3 hours work a day plus 2 days off a week. Do drop me a line if you are interested :) ***

Set on the edge of the pretty fishing village of Beer on Devon's south coast, this 39-bed Youth Hostel is in need of a willing helper over the coming months to help keep it looking it's best.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer food, but you will have full use of a kitchen to prepare and cook your own meals.

The work here at YHA Beer mainly comprises of 4-5 hours a day of cleaning (inc making beds) with some occasional gardening and painting, and with 2 days off a week.
It`s not particularly glamorous (can include a fair share of cleaning toilets!) but the reward of living in this lovely village just a 10 minute walk to the beach, I think, makes it well worthwhile :)

GARDENER(S) NEEDED FOR ONE - TWO WEEKS FROM c.28th JULY. This would suit a couple of person who would love a rural retreat in Scotland for a week or two. My regular gardener is away for a few weeks and so I need someone to come and keep the garden and grounds in condition - someone happy to work unsupervised. We are located in stunningly beautiful Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. It is a Natural Sanctuary consisting of 14 acres of woodland, meadow, a river, organic garden. There is a main house, a cottage which is rented out, and various outbuildings including an insulated caravan. This lovely project is currently up for sale. My partner from India visits for 4 months every year and we travel around and run singing workshops. Comraich is sanctuary for wild life and biodiversity, having held events such as woodland and foraging walks, singing and nature based spiritual workshops and maybe more animals. The environment will suit people who really enjoy nature. Will suit one/... more inside

We live in a cottage with an extensive garden (extensive to us!) of 2.5 acres. There is a stream, a pond, woodland, allotment and lawn space - several gardens in one! We need help clearing, maintaining and landscaping the different areas of the garden. This might be clearing brambles and nettles or clearing mud and undergrowth from the pond or other tasks like this, depending on what we are working on at any time. Some of the photos show the areas of garden we are working on - still in a mess! We will only want help at certain times of the year depending on our projects and other business - always worth checking.
We have a beautiful, hand-built shepherd's hut that sleeps 1-2 and a stunning Mongolian yurt that sleeps 1-4 so depending on anyone else staying, you can choose accommodation. Either way, it's an outdoors experience with a bit of comfort thrown in - but camp life (including camp fires) is what you'll be getting stuck in to. We live in a very rural area so peace and ... more inside

Welcome to wales. Stay in a farmhouse surrounded by nature, and help to look after and walk Sled dogs and Sheep dogs.
You can also learn about dog training, handling and grooming, if you want too.

This is a peaceful and secluded farm in the Welsh countryside ( with WiFi ), a quiet place to get away from it all, maybe do some meditation and get in touch with nature.
Dog Training, Dog Handler training, Rehabilitating aggressive dogs, and Sheepdog training are some of the things that happen here.

The work is cleaning kennels, refreshing water bowls, walking the dogs 2 times a day. First in the morning, and again in the afternoon, and then letting the dogs out for a wee last thing each night just before bedtime. A little help around the farm and in the house if needed.

4 hours of work/walking dogs a day maximum - 2 hours in the morning, and 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon and 1/2 hour last thing to put the dogs to bed for the night.
In exchange for Brunch and evening meal, m... more inside

We would love to have you stay with us for a week or two in this little piece of Cornish heaven. Our 5 acre small holding is in need of initial clearance of buildings, sheds, trees and weeds. Once the site has been cleared the operation will involve erection of stone and wooden buildings, animal pens and associated fencing.

There may be repairs to stone barns, clearing out our river and maintaining the orchards.

If you would like to learn English better,
the local community has many fun activities where you can meet people and learn some traditional Cornish farming skills.

Perhaps you have some experience to bring to the table?

We are happy to house you and feed you well in our brand new guest annex complete with rainfall shower room over looking the quarry cliff face. Try fishing on the river. Feel free to borrow a bicycle and take a trip down the country lanes. We ask for 25 hours per week in exchange for food and board.

In addition to helping on the land there i... more inside

Looking for a couple or two friends to help with interior painting and reclaiming the vegetable garden from the weeds, and updating the stable block.

Lots of walking, skiing and historic buildings locally, and bus links to the north. We are 2 miles from local village, so evenings spent on the farm, usually walking dogs or relaxing ( free wifi).

We are a working farm, with cattle, sheep and grain as the commercial enterprise and Highland ponies as a hobby. There are also the usual dogs, cats and hens around the steading. The farm is about 10 miles outside Perth looking over the scenic Earn Valley. The land starts in the valley and rises up to 800 ft on the hill. There is an erratic local bus service, so this would suit someone who doesn't mind living as family.

We can provide a large bedroom (suitable for 2-3 friends), shared bathroom and food with the family. Transport to Perth with excellent links to the rest of Scotland available. Free accommodation and food. Work 5 day... more inside

We have a vision of our home being an ethical cultural centre, with poly tunnels and bees, a forest garden, composting toilets and interesting workshops that share knowledge and improve wellbeing, a place that promotes and sets an example of self sufficiency and community partnership.

3 years ago we were living in a caravan among a lot of mud and 15 year old trees next to a house that had no roof or windows! Now after a lot of hard work, we are living in a partly developed house, with wood and solar powered heating, a composting toilet, lime plastered walls, chickens in the wood, veg beds and a poly tunnel on the way up. We welcome volunteers with the vision and enthusiasm we have to be part of our continuing journey.

Next steps . . . Bees, more lime plastering, developing the woodland as agroforestry, beginning organic conversion. looking at how to create a community here.

We are Amy (42), Mike (45), Ada (12) and Eartha (5)

We are hoping to find male or female volunteer... more inside

Helping to clear brambles and weeds so no experience needed so long as you are willing to work hard. We expect around 25 hours per week work in exchange for food, room, use of wifi and washing machine. We cook the evening meal but you will get your own breakfast from the food we provide. We do not provide alcohol but don't mind you buying your own. No drugs anybody found using non-prescription drugs will be asked to leave immediately. We do not wish to cater for anybody following a special diet or who has allergies as we have found that this significantly increased the time we spend shopping and cooking- we are not an hotel! It would be great to have somebody who would like to stay for a couple of months in October/November/December so we can go on holiday for 2 weeks at the end of November. Experience of looking after geese would be helpful. Ours are friendly and well behaved. They need clean water, to be put in the shed at night and the shed needs to be kept clean. We are Jill and Phil, we have a large property of converted and semi converted barns, we are gradually upgrading the property to provide tourist accommodation. Currently we have two B&B rooms and 2 holiday cottages. We also have a large garden-flowers and vegetables, a fair sized pond and woodland. We have a few chickens who roam freely around the garden and two adorable guinea pigs.

We need help from October 2019 with all aspects of the above, priorities determined by current projects and the time of the year. We will also try to make good use of any specific skills offered as well as teaching new ones. We ask 5 hours work a day, five days a week - or the equivalent worked flexibly (4 week minimum stay). In return we offer good food and accommodation - private bedroom and shower room, all other areas are shared with us. We can also provide a bike for local investigation and lifts to nearby Acle for a bus or train to Norwich for example. Our helpers will often take a day or two t... more inside
