We are retired but active couple, we have 8 acres of ground full of wonders such as horses, chickens, a dog and a cat, out buildings, a wind turbine, gardens and a vegetable plot therefore we would like some people to come and help us out in and around the house annd land.
We are sociable pair. we have 4 grown up children who no longer live at home so we have space to host people and we want to share our home and stories with interesting people who like to do the same! We have rooms on Air BnB too, so guests often come and go, as do friends and family. Having Help Xers will be a great practical help but also fun and interesting for us and you too!! Please note
we are NOT a farm

Time wise ,looking at end June , thro July perhaps, but we are flexible.

We are located between Stirling and St Andrews in the beautiful county of Kinross-shire 40 miles from Edinburgh, in a village called Drum. There are regular buses between Stirling and St Andrews with connections to Edinburgh, ... more inside

We are in Kent, a short walk from the centre of the picturesque historical town of Rochester with it's Dickensian heritage, Norman Castle and a lovely Cathedral. There are good road and railway links to London and Dover.

Our house is a renovation work-in-progress. We can offer short term accommodation in exchange for internal and external skills. Examples of which are garden works, using a drill (e.g. for shelves), small scale plumbing and wiring (only if qualified), gloss painting, curtain making, housekeeping, cupboard-taming or just providing an extra set of muscles to move furniture around. At the moment we are making Hugelkultur beds and would love to create a greywater system in the near future.

We are Eco-friendly, Green, Festival folk and welcome your ideas, experience and practical assistance to fulfill some of our plans. We are particularly patient and enjoy speaking with people who wish to practice their English conversation skills.

Our home is a pet-friendly, no... more inside

Ben and Larry live the good life - or at least we try to!

Our farm is our home, work and life and every aspect of our numerous activities go towards making a life, not just a living.

Ours is a working farm and we aim to use traditional methods alongside modern techniques. We endeavour to take the best of the past and combine it with the best of the future. Our objective being to create a low environmental impact and respect for our surroundings, we think of it as ‘Heritage In The Making’.

We grow the majority of our own food and try to eat in tune with the seasons with home produced feasts for celebrations but all meals are special for us and provide an opportunity for regular gatherings.

We have two kitchen gardens, a herb garden and a poly-tunnel as well as our new venture of a market garden plot. From this, we can enjoy on our own vegetable produce almost all year round. We forage and gather in the hedge rows and preserve the seasonal abundance for the leaner month... more inside

I am a busy professional dog trainer and behaviourist living and working in the stunning countryside of the Scottish Borders, around a one hour drive from the capitol, Edinburgh.

I live with my Fox Red Labrador dog, Otto in a two bedroom stone cottage on a Private Shooting Estate, and would like to invite a lady who has a keen interest, or at least a liking for dogs, (as this is a huge part of my life) to stay within my cottage and help with a little cooking, gardening and helping me to keep the house neat and tidy.(I am a tidy person myself!)

You will have the option of learning all about dogs, their training and behaviour, as on occasions, you will work alongside me, as we help clients and their dogs with problems.

We are continuously producing Dog Training Videos, and you could assist during filming days.

You will have your own warm and comfortable Bedroom with a king size bed, wardrobes, drawers and cupboards. Your accommodation and food are provided in return for ... more inside

**Help needed in the garden and house decorating**

“Our place exists to provide our family with a sustainable foundation, to ensure that the land and its special energy is handed down to future generations in a thriving state, whilst being a beacon of inspiration to others”

The reason we embarked on taking volunteers from Wwoof or HelpX is to enable people to come and learn the importance of regenerative organic food production and we try and do this whilst having a low impact lifestyle. This is important for a sustainable way forward for human beings to continue to inhabit this planet. We are evolving and exploring ways to achieve this.

We live quite comfortably* and eat well and in return we expect our volunteers to be keen to join in with the work and to be enthusiastic members of the team, as well as eager to learn more by joining us some evenings watching DVDs to learn more about and to discuss environmental issues. This way we can all share our knowledge, thoughts an... more inside

COVID-19 UPDATE: We stopped hosting volunteers at the beginning of COVID-19 to protect David who is 75, we still do not mix with family members and have had no one in our house since then so we do not take the decision likely to invite someone in to our home. It goes without saying that you should not volunteer if you have symptoms or believe you have come in to contact with anyone with symptoms and we will only consider hosting someone who has already been in the UK for some time. While living with us we would want David's safety to be a priority and will supply you with hand sanitisers and masks and would expect you to show due care to maintain social distancing in our house (it's pretty spacious) and with strangers on your days off. COVID is real and we know people who have died from it...volunteers should take this very seriously. Thank you.
