Hi. I'm John.

I was previously a helper on Helpx while I travelled around the world in 2015/2016. I'm now a host and I'm looking for someone to help out around my house in Portlaw in County Waterford for up to 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week.

In August 2015 I left Ireland to embark on an 11 month round the world trip taking in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Croatia, Netherlands and Belgium before returning to Ireland in July 2016.

My house is quiet as I currently live on my own. The town of Portlaw itself is only 20 minutes from Waterford City. It is a small town of about 1,700 people. It is a relatively new town in Irish terms and was established around the year 1825. The town has a small supermarket, a small grocery shop, an historical center, a library, a pharmacy, a Chinese takeaway, two fast food takeaways, a new bistro which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I'm Elizabeth and recently I have had some helpX-ers working with me in restoring the gardens, back and front. I now need one person with construction experience in either or both woodwork and in building small walls.
Current needs are:
(1) building small walls around raised beds.
(3) there is also some garden maintenance needed including some lifting/carrying soil
(4) The decking surfaces need maintenance
Let me know which of these tasks you are interested in helping with.

The accommodation I offer is a room, with internet, and I would like you to work an average of 4 hours a day (28 hours over the week) Since some work is outdoors I need a person who is flexible depending on the weather. My helper will have taken English lessons and will have experience in understanding and speaking simple English. Please let me know how long you attended classes.
I will provide your food, but since I am a notoriously poor cook, I will ask you to cook for yourself. I do not expect you t... more inside

Looking for help for September
My project
My name is Eugene. I live on my own and have a disability that restricts me from performing diy, maintenance and the garden. Cooking has its challenges. I live a kinda bohemian lifestyle and a bit artistic in how I approach living. I have a small yoga practice out of a studio next to my home. I am living by the sea and in a country setting.
What I have to offer is your own bedroom, food and we share in the house chores. Participation in yoga class and the possibility of seaweed baths. Anybody with a passion for cooking, diy or gardening is welcome. I enjoy being a tour guide of the locality.

ABOUT ME
I have had careers in social work, teaching ( physical education ), construction, wood flooring and joinery business, director of shiatsu school, yoga and meditation teacher.
Raised a family, lived in Canada, travelled. I am a " there is no box" kinda guy. Still living my life. I love encountering and exchanging with young peopl... more inside

WE ARE NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2018, and welcome enquiries for accommodation from now onward.

We are a relaxed couple who prefer people who have pa little life experience, who have lived away from home, and are used to helping.. As stated we are easy-going and enjoy Helpex persons and passing on the experience of what we have learned over the years.
We love people who can work unsupervised; & with the ethos, if you see something needing to be done, go ahead and do it, you can't be wrong.

Our place consists of 1.5 acre smallholding in West Cork close to the sea, mountains, lakes and woods; in one of the most scenic areas of Ireland.
Our land is put to mixed use; which includes orchard, raised vegetable beds and garden with a poly-tunnel's most of the food is locally sourced.

Beautiful and viable farm of 150acres grass and woodland. Solar PV is used for most energy needs.
The main priority is care and well being of our free range chickens. Tasks are not arduous and consist of bedding rest areas, checking fresh food and water and allowing access outdoors during daylight hours. Paddocks are fenced to keep out predators and foxes. Occasional maintenance of hedgerows and fencing will also be needed.
Couples and people traveling together are welcome.

We are looking for ideally a couple or a couple of friends who are interested in building work, restoration, can help run the holiday lets from Easter to September so cleaning / laundry. We dont live on site so it wiuld be better to have company, possibly. We live in Ladys Island about 3km away, the nearest villafe. Check us out it is a magical spot. We would really appreciate some help during the month of August.
We are a small family living on a cliff top in West Cork.
Volunteers will have their own bedroom shower/toilet with amazing sea views and all meals provided in return for 25 hours work a week on a flexible basis. During time off volunteers would be really welcome to join us for walks trips to beach or to the pub for a pint and some traditional music.

We live an easy driving/cycling distance to amazing beaches/walks/pubs for you to enjoy in your spare time. 2 minutes walk away is a Buddhist meditation centre for those interested! We will have family and friends staying and it would be lovely to have volunteers join us in socialising and eating together.

Hello 2018 volunteers! We welcome applications for April 2018 onwards till about October. However if you need a week in the winter it is still worth asking -we may be able to help. It would be all winter jobs (logging, pruning, tidying etc) then and may get rained off but if that's OK then do contact us.

Hi from a relaxed, friendly nearly-retired couple who love to 'host' and welcome our volunteers as if they were family. We are a 1 hectare smallholding with sheep, poultry, pigs (in summer), an out of control vegetable garden and plenty of 'wild' bits, in NW Roscommon. You are welcome to try some (fully supervised) livestock tasks at the appropriate times of year (moving stock, dealing with families of baby chicks, sheep shearing and foot trimming etc). We try to give guests a mix of jobs and nothing too awful! You will get mowing and tidying but also, if we can, jobs for which you have stated a preference. Recent volunteers asked for 'wood-work' - we had plenty.
