Description

Hello, I'm traveling by inland river barge through Europe, especially France, Belgium and Holland. The barge is an original Dutch built peniche and made for the old French channels. I still transport cargo and I am the third generation of a shipper family from both sides of my parents. I live and work alone on the barge sometimes accompanied by my girlfriend.

There is a simple separate -little- room (see photo..)for guests in the front of the barge which is not suite. (no sanitation, but there is a chemical toilet and lavabo) Also a heating system, fridge/freezer and micro-wave.

The work to do depends on the person, maybe some cleaning, housekeeping work, shopping and cooking??? And serving the aperitif of the skipper of course at 18h00 exactly..LOL.

My intention is to make contact with other people and have an exchange of cultures.

Kind regards,

William

We can offer you a gite with a big bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. There is also a seperate living room with a small television for English tv.
We have a very relaxed way of living and we would expect you to work 4 hours a day. Sundays and every afternoon is free time to explore the beautifull countryside. We have bycicles that can be used and there are lots of trails for hiking or mountbiking.

I live in an old farm and farmhouse, La Rougerie, in Normandy. I have converted a cottage into a B&B with 4 bedrooms (all en suite) and the first barn into a gite. The next stage is to convert the next barn. I also have a Yurt and a campsite,a chicken, geese, goats and 2 cats. With the guest-accommodation, farm and further buildings to be converted, I could always do with an extra pair of hands. Skills can range from building, painting, cleaning, taking care of the animals, farming hay and general maintenance. Someone with a sense of humour would be great. I enjoy music so you may find all sorts playing, from classical to Genesis or Roxy Music!

Current project (weather dependant) include:
1. house building
2. Rocket water heater

I offer accommodation and all meals included in return for 5 working hours per day, 5 days a week. After a week I'm happy to give a day tour of the battlefields ...

Easy to find and get to .. .By train leave Paris at the Gare de St Lazare... more inside

We have lived here for 18 years and love to share it with others. Our house is a 12th century watchtower with stunning views and surrounded by fields, meadows and woods. Much of our orchid-covered meadow is lent to a couple who use it for their rescue horses and for training and flying their falcon.
We can give you self-contained accommodation up at the top of the tower, with its own roof terrace.
We need some-one with general building skills, and if you have experience with lime mortar/render, so much the better. We also need help around the house and garden, as I now care for my husband and it's a full-time job! And if you are a woodsperson, we have 10 hectares of woodland which needs attention...so plenty of options.
We are happy for you to be self-catering as we tend to eat at lunch time which doesn't suit many Helpexers! But I can cook for you too - or you are welcome to join in with us - we are not vegetarian.
We have 3 dogs who love to play and be taken on walks. ... more inside

We are a couple living in the countryside between Nantes (110km away) and Poitiers (90km).
I am working as a project manager developing organics cosmetics and my husband is a teacher.
Beginning of 2019, we bought an house with a lovely garden (5000 square meters). We love gardening and we have a vegetable garden. We also have a cat and four chicken. So you can have fresh eggs for the breakfast :)

Help exchange is being offered.
We are looking for people interested in plant cultivation. And help with the garden is welcome.
We also want to build ecological dry toilets.
We offered 2 or 3 hours per day of help with the garden in exchange of free accommodation and lunch/dinner with us.

When I was younger, I used HelpX as and helper, when I was travelling around New Zealand and I really enjoyed this experience. I would be glad to use it now as an Host and welcome people in our house.

We may host a very few times each year. We are mostly interested in meeting foodies and people interested in viticulture. We are interested in cultural exchange: learning about children education and food habit in your country. Cooking one of your favorite recipes would be great. This is a tiny wine estate, in the build up stage. You can help us with daily tasks - weeding, pruning, planting, labelling, cooking, school homework, making videos, taking pictures, creating content. (3 days / 6 mornings/afternoons a week).

Our place is perfect if you travel with your bike and wish to cycle around (either road bike or mountain bike). We can host you in a separate appartment upstairs from our's.

The three of us inhabit a farm building in a quiet 1600-inhabitant-township, half an hour drive from Strasbourg and Germany. The place can be reached with public transportations and more easily by car or by bike. We do not work on sundays. We'll provide food, drinks, sheets, blankets, maps, gu... more inside

We are a retired english couple living in the Limousin. We are creating a forest garden using permaculture and organic growing methods. We avoid meat and eat well, often our own organic produce
We can offer cosy accommodation in our timber cabin with bunks.
Work is very varied to adapt to peoples` abilities, skills, age, weather etc and can include land-clearing, making terraces, building a compost toilet, making compost, planting trees, sowing seeds etc
We are 1/2hr cycle ride from the nearest rail station or we can pick up from St Junien or Chabanais. We prioritise folk avoiding air travel for ecological reasons.
