This is a not for profit Organisation. We have a new network of 17 creches. These are small creches run by rural people in very difficult conditions. Only 3 of the 17 creches have running water. Most fetch water in a bucket. We want to organise volunteers to come and live with the principal of the creche and work at the creches. You do not have to have special qualifications, although it is of course welcome. I am especially interested in Montesouri style teaching. Conditions are very basic. This is the real Africa experience.

Experienced hosts, we recently moved from an organic farm into town. We need help to get the herb and vegetable garden up and running. Need work on the worm farm and composting bins. We manufacture natural beauty, pet and household products using herbs and essential oils which we sell at our shop. You can assist with manufacturing and marketing and general running of the shop or get your hands dirty in the garden. Must love animals, we have quite a variety of pets, including a horse stabled nearby, which you may wish to help care for. Accomodation is a room with bathroom in the main house. Vegetarians welcome.

Our farm borders an indigenous forest that spans 70,000ha.

It is an off the grid farm that works on solar power and rain water.

We are in year 3 of building the farm up from scratch and have various projects from building to organic farming.

The farm is nestled in between the mountains, the forest and the sea (20km away).
The farm is in the heart of the Garden Route, South Africa's most popular and beautiful area the visit.

See our website for a visual reference.

For more about our story take a look at out blog.

We have 2 children Mila 8 and Luke 6 that ensure there never a dull moment on the iFarm.

Although we live off the grid the farm is proudly mac enabled to the max...ipods, macbooks and a high speed internet wifi ensures that the modern word meets the natural world in an inspired setting.

We own a backpackers in the country, 2 hours from Cape Town. We have been here for 10 years and love our beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and with the Breede river just 2 km away. There are 42 wine farms in the valley and we run wine tours as well as river rafting trips. We are in a small town so there are shops and restaurants nearby.

We are looking for 2 people (prefer a couple) who would be able to help out with day to day running of the backpackers as well as helping on the river rafting trips and preparing meals for guests. An international drivers license is preferable and the use of a car is negotiable.

You would have your own room and can use kitchen for preparing your own meals.

We are pretty flexible so all terms can be discussed to suit both parties.

A smallholding situation within a real (i.e. remote, vast and pristine) big 5 game reserve 300km / 3-4 hours' drive east of Cape Town (get into the wild and learn some eco-stuff in your free time - I used to do pro guiding).
I go away regularly to Cape Town and need independent farmsitters who can also attend to chores including vegetable growing, tending the olive orchard, animal care and new projects. Note - expect some physically hard pioneering type work among the easier stuff.
I am also trying to work towards complete energy independence and non-reliance on fossil fuels, and being inventive technologically. Driver's license can be useful (car of course the trickiest challenge energy-wise!). Offering either accommodation only for 2 hours' work; or accom + food for a full day.
Rain is scarce so its sunny all year round, with hot summers (30-40C) and occasional frost on midwinter mornings; winter midday temps are usually about 20-25C. Be prepared to rough it sometimes - we re... more inside
