We run our own hill farm beside the sea, 6 and a half miles south of Oban. We have about 500 sheep, blackface and cheviots and crosses . We also run a bed and breakfast business.
We have both travelled quite a bit and we can provide a homely and welcoming atmosphere for someone to be part of the family and help on the farm ( marking lambs, shearing ) or with the B&B. We have 3 children who are 29, 27 and 22 who are all away from home these days.
We have a spare bedroom for the helpx people and bathroom.
Good sense of humour a good thing.
We are rural but only 15 minutes drive from Oban, our local town, limited bus service.
Ideally this would suit a couple who enjoy farming life and have some experience of animals, or are willing to learn. 5 hours work a day in exchange for board and keep and two days off per week.. Preferably minimum of 2/3 weeks and up to a month. Manual driving license useful, and if you are over 25 we can possibly put you on our car insurance policy..

My partner Tom and I live with our baby daughter Ada and our two dogs in the Scottish Borders about 40 minutes south of Edinburgh. Tom works in Edinburgh so commutes regularly.

I am currently on maternity leave and we are hoping to complete some house renovations over the summer, as well as sorting out our garden!

Accommodation will be in our newly converted loft space (or outside in the summer house if you prefer). In exchange we would like help with various tasks around the property such as painting and decorating, gardening and fitting new doors and walls in our garage.

Must like dogs and children - we have two Labrador Retrievers who would love some extra walks and play time with a new face. Help with household chores and cooking while Tom is at work would also be much appreciated, but happy to go with whatever your strengths and preferences are, we can be flexible.

The nearest town is the traditional market town of Biggar (5 mins by car) which provides all the esse... more inside

We are a 4 acre smallholding. We have a large vegetable garden, two polytunnels, pigs, chickens and woodland. Anne is a potter and David a cabinetmaker and we run a small publishing business.
We live in a wooded valley in the shadow of Carningli mountain with the sea and beach just 2 miles away.
We would welcome help with all smallholding tasks including fencing, stone walling, woodland management and gardening duties.
We also have some building projects for 2016 including an outdoor wood-fired bread oven and the renovation of two old railway wagons. Any building/woodworking experience would be a bonus.

We are looking for some help in our beautiful, peaceful, rural part of Cornwall, 15 minutes from Falmouth. As public transport is almost non existent, anyone wanting to come here really needs a car. We have a big garden, orchard and vegetable plot but would like some occasional help with it as both of us are recovering from injury and illness. That would probably mean weeding, clearing bracken and brambles, maybe repairs to stone walls, perhaps some digging and mowing. Basically stuff we now find is too much for us at the moment!
We may also be converting part of a large shed into a writers/artists studio and spare room - we would appreciate carpentry/building/painting help with this project once we start! That would be fantastic help!
We can offer a double bedroom and your own bathroom or you can camp in the orchard. We have television and wifi. It's just the two of us plus our Bengal cat. The Helford river is not far away and a short walk down the hill takes you to the creek.

Vegetable gardening, polytunnel, preparation of yurt, B&B for guests.

We are a small B&B on a very small island (population 40), our vegetable garden and polytunnel's always need attention, we have 5 dogs that need walking and caring for as well as B&B and yurt guests.
The island has a tea room in the summer months and an honesty shop that sells local crafts, but no supermarket etc.
The ferry journey to reach the island is just under 2 hours.
Anyone that can help us learn french especially welcome, but not essential.
please feel free to email if you have any questions.

We live on an organic farm of 40 ha in rural Wiltshire. The farm is entirely grass and woodland and we rear sheep and beef cows. The surrounding countryside is particularly beautiful with wonderful walks and bike rides from the house. We are looking for help with lambing, in particular catching sheep who are having difficulty. This a real opportunity to learn about sheep farming and caring for new born lambs. There is always work to do in the garden too. No real skills required just energy and enthusiasm. We are a couple in our mid sixties Tim is an artist and we have an art gallery and holiday cottage in the farmyard. We have accommodation for up to two people couples or singles all welcome. We are fairly self sufficient during the summer and healthy home cooked food will be provided. We eat meat but are very happy to accommodate vegetarians or vegans. We have two dogs and some chickens and ducks. We are quite remote, a mile from the nearest village but Tisbury station is... more inside

My wife and I live in a single story home.
We live near the South Coast of England,
(2 miles north) from the beach.
We also live near (2 miles south)of Britain's newest National Park, a beautiful area called 'The New Forest'.
There many, many things to see and do in this area, on land or sea.
We have excellent road, bus and train services locally, London is under 2 hours by train. We are also just a short distance from 2 regional airports Bournemouth and Southampton for travel further a field.
We have a medium size garden which always needs attention, eg digging, pruning and weeding which can be a physical task. I use a wheelchair which makes keeping our garden and general outside repairs, painting and maintenance a difficult task.
We normally host 1 person but have hosted 2 people for short periods normally 2-3 weeks in exchange for doing some of the general jobs around the house and garden.
You can Google the area to give you a better idea of our location.
You would have ... more inside
