Kia ora, helpx-ers!
We are currently looking for fit, animal-loving helpers who could help out on our small rural property in Mahana, (between Nelson and the beautiful Kahurangi National park). Ideally you would have skills and experience in things like painting and decorating, pruning apple trees, gardening, fencing or building/carpentry/joinery experience, but just let us know what skills you have because there are always a range of jobs to be done!

We are looking for relaxed, independent guests, who don't mind doing some cooking for themselves (although we would love to invite you to share a few meals with us). We offer private accommodation in either a small self-contained flat or a house bus (both have large double beds, power and cooking facilities, toilet & shower), in exchange for 2-3 hours work a day.

Ideally you would have your own transport to explore the beautiful Moutere hills and beach-side Mapua, but we travel in and out of town daily and are happy to help... more inside

We are looking for two friends or a couple to help out over the next two weeks.

We are a family of four living on a little farm at the foothills of Kahurangi National Park. The pristine Graham River runs along our property. We run a 'pick-your-own' blueberry farm, have a home garden, and graze sheep and cows. Jobs will include working in the blueberry patch - pruning in the winter, and mulching, weeding and picking berries in the summer. Other jobs include feeding and moving animals, gardening, mowing, and weed control. We also have renovation and painting jobs for those with carpentry or woodworking experience. We have great river swimming in the summer, and beautiful national parks nearby to explore. You would have your own room in the family farm.

Interested in mad projects?

Good folk are most welcome to come and share this beautiful land and evolving home, garden, orchard, native restoration project 10 km from Nelson.

Works best for people who are self-motivated, preferably skilled/experienced/handy with tools, and who find a bit of hard work satisfying. Practical people rock. Awesome for people who enjoy a bit of time to themselves. 4ish hours a day flexi ... showing some love to the land and my little constellation of cabins ...

You have your own super-sweet little sleep outs that have been crafted with love and a strong commitment to recycling complete with kitchen and outdoor bathroom. And then there are the luxuries - solar powered cedar hot tub, chemical-free pool - yum ... oh and there are some crangadang kayaks and bikes here for your mucking around pleasure. Things are beautiful and simple here - off grid (enough solar to run laptops and power tools but not enough for hair dryers or blenders!)... more inside

We live close to Ruby Bay and have a sizeable garden to weed and take care of. We are situated on one hectare in a tranquil rural setting, with abundant bird life.

We have 1 cats, 6 chickens & 5 goats.

We seek mature (which is only loosely correlated with age), hard-working people who would like to share our lifestyle while helping out around the place. We are vegetarian (though do eat fish). The work is varied, but usually is weeding and gardening! Other tasks workers have taken on include painting, firewood gathering, splitting and stacking, construction work, cleaning, pruning, cleaning out the chicken and/or goat house, and whatever else is going on.

Our expectation regarding amount of work is that you would get involved in whatever tasks are under way and take reasonable initiative; 5 hours per day in exchange for accommodation and shared meals. For us the relationship must be one of equals, not boss and workers, and to that end a sense of humour, some shared interest... more inside

We are a busy sheep and cattle farm situated in the Motueka Valley, 60 minutes drive from Nelson and close to 3 beautiful National Parks. We also grow flowers and harvest organic walnuts.
The Motueka river runs beside the house and our top farm lies in the beautiful Baton Valley. Both rivers are excellent for fishing, kayaking and swimming. Our farming neighbours operate Baton Run Horse Treks.
We have two children. One at University and one who works from home.
Accommodation is in a cosy sleepout attached to the house with facilities shared with the family.
The work would include a mixture of farm and flower work in the tunnelhouse. Some help required with meals at times.
Depending on the season the work could involve hay making, lambing, shearing, mustering, feeding lambs, harvesting walnuts and weeding or picking flowers.
We eat 90% food grown on the property including fresh milk from the house cow and vegetables.
Sue has travelled widely and can communicate in German.

The property is a large garden beside a private lake. I require light garden work in my beautiful garden and would love it if you share some of the cooking too. The accommodation is a separate, good quality sleep-out room with its own shower and toilet - usually only used by friends and family. I would prefer a couple with an interest in gardening. It's a pleasant location in the country and you would need your own transport. Best suited to people with an interest in a taste of New Zealand.

I live in a small organic farm. WE are five households - 11 people - living independently but with a feeling of community. Over the years we have enjoyed developing sustainable ways of living on this land - growing vegetables, fruits and nuts, raising some sheep, goats, chooks, and cattle (including a milking cow). I like to eat locally grown, organic foods, home cooked.

This week (12/11/2018)I am needing help to fill in a drainage trench. Strong muscles needed to shovel earth back into the trench.
This is also a busy time in the garden with preparing for and planting vegetable seedlings.

At other times the help i require varies depending on the season and may include planting in the vegetable garden, weeding harvesting and storing produce ( examples are making sauerkraut and other pickles, cracking nuts ). Planting trees and clearing overgrown areas. Small building projects. There can be opportunity for care of chooks, and hand milking. I would look at the current list... more inside

We have a 1-hectare (2.6 acre) property overlooking Mapua and Ruby Bay. There is the main house and a cottage and their gardens which take up half the property. The other half is in paddocks.
Sarah is a wonderful cook and promises delicious meals. Meals are shared together.
We have 2 cats, 6 chickens and 4 sheep.
We lived in France for many years, so we speak French fluently.
Helpers stay in the main house. The bedroom has 2 single beds or 1 double bed, with use of the second bathroom.
We need willing helpers who are good at general garden maintenance, digging, weeding, planting, pruning, stacking wood, lawn mowing. We want people for 4-7 days.
Helpers need their own transport to be able to come and go, and make the most of the surrounding region.
Come and spend some time with us.

Hi there
Thanks for your interest in staying with us. This is a weekend opportunity - from Friday evening to Sunday evening.

Stoke is just a hop, skip and a jump from the Nelson airport; a 15 minute drive to Nelson City and close to all the beautiful areas Nelson has to offer! We are on the border of Richmond so quite central to this area too.

We would love to hear from people who have an excellent knowledge of gardening and general maintenance skills.

As far as helping is concerned, generally the work consists of painting (using a drop-sheet is not optional); wood or building work, weeding & pruning, and general housework. Mainly not being afraid of hard work, taking pride in what you have achieved and having a helpful attitude is what we expect from a helper.

In return for 4 hours per person a day we will provide meals, free wifi and a bedroom with ensuite. The earlier you get up the quicker your work is done (sleep in if you want to cook dinner!) - leaving you t... more inside
