We've been part of Helpx for several years now and have met some wonderful people from all over the world, many of whom we still keep in touch with.

We're currently particularly interested in meeting people from Italy.

We live in York, in the north of England, where we have a garden and (a 10 minute walk away) an allotment where we grow fruit and vegetables.

We try to cultivate using the `no-dig` method and like to re-use and recycle wherever possible.

Our house has solar panels on the roof for water and electricity as we are keen to reduce our impact on the environment.

The work includes turning and spreading compost, weeding, seed sowing, planting out, grass cutting and fence painting.

From early summer, fruit and vegetables are ready to be harvested and prepared for freezing and conserving.
If the weather is bad then there are always jobs to get on with in the house, garage and greenhouse.

We can offer all meals, laundry and accommodation, (in a double bed/o... more inside

Welcome to Brickworth Farmhouse :-)

We are seeking help to run our wonderful 325 year old farmhouse, which is in a beautiful rural setting in the countryside of Southern England.

The house has a walled garden, an orchard, a paddock and poly tunnel and is situated in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, nestled between the historic city of Salisbury and the New Forest, one of England's most treasured forests and heaths, abundant with life & wild ponies.

We are also close to Stonehenge and the spiritual town of Glastonbury and the South Coast Cities of Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth. The area is steeped in history, attracts many visitors with all kinds of interests and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.
We are well connected with transport services and London and the Roman City of Bath are just over an hour away by Train.

The hosts Mike & Sharon and their son Marcus are seasoned travellers and have experienced the good & not so good, so ... more inside

Following a break from Helpx for a few years, I'm now looking for more help .... from October 1st 2019 for 2-4 weeks I'd really appreciate help from a practical person, or couple to make and fit natural insulation into mobile home/Orchard Barn's new office. Ideally you will be able to work on your own initiative as well as with small group with local volunteers.
This natural building project is part of a larger project that is off-grid. The mobile home will be self sufficient in water, energy and grey water filtration. Come and find out how this all works, and help get the mobile home closed in before winter. Some help with carpentry would be appreciated, but mostly it is help with the light straw insulation.
Accommodation is in my house in adjacent village.

23-Sep-19 update: I live on a Hilly smallholding and have my independent sons living nearby. My property has an area of meadow and light woodland.

I need some seasonal help with gardening and landscaping, as well as painting the house exterior and the internal doors, and with general housekeeping. If you are good with children, that will help, too, on the occasions when my grandchildren visit.

My first Helpx helper was amazing and I have more work that needs to be done so I am looking for another 1 or 2-week stay, but equally happy to consider a shorter stay, if you are passing through on the way somewhere. I ask for the equivalent of 5 hours a day over a 5-day week but am flexible about when the hours can be.

The house is in a rural setting, 5 miles from Tunbridge Wells, 50 miles from London, and 25 miles from Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton south coast towns. Buses stop on my street; there is a station 12 mins walk away, with trains to Hastings (50 mins) or London (60 ... more inside

We are looking for someone to muck in with our family and friends to get all jobs done around the farm weather thats horses dogs or house cleaning. Your stay can be for as long or short as you like. There will be plenty of opportunity to join in with our sports for the right
person and we travel around the country to our race meetings, so you can see England too.
We are a non-smoking family & would prefer a non-smoker. Meals will be provided. Accommodation will be in our house or a very spaciouse flat on the end of the main house. Please get in touch if your interested. Help is needed from sept/oct - June.

We are passionate about remaining in the EU with our European friends and neighbours!
Devon - general help with garden, clearing ground, weeding, firewood, fencing., a little help in the house with cleaning etc.

We would love to meet someone who is able to help us with mostly outside jobs. Some of the work is quite hard so you must be strong and fit, and willing to work in all weathers! Also routine jobs like feeding / cleaning out hens, weeding and tidying.

We are musicians (traditional/folk) living in the South Hams of Devon - an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are self employed in musical instrument repairs and always in need of more time for our business - the reason we need some help. We live in an old cottage in a village with a bakery and a pub.

We are looking for someone to help who is strong and able and thoroughly practical.

We have 2 dogs - a terrier and a large white Shepherd (both rescued), a Lusitano horse and 10 hens!

We anticipate help f... more inside

Currently building Base for Yurt and a Compost Toilet....carpentry skills would be helpful but not essential!...

Hello!
My name is Emma. For nearly 5 years now I've looked after 22acres of enchanted land on the beautiful Blackdown Hills in Devon. I'm gently turning the land in to an off-grid Nature Based Healing Retreat. There is weeding, planting, building gateways, compost loos that need creating....the list goes on!! It is magical there. We've already created a small orchard and a nuttery - I teach basket making there and have a passion for wild food foraging which I also teach people.

I need help!...working on the land and with the computer side of things....I am looking for genuine, hard working, honest, English speaking, happy, fun and inspired individuals to assist me.

My accommodation is simple....I live with my beloved cat, 6 miles from the land on a farm in absolutely stunning rural surroundings...in an old and cosy static caravan among a small community. The ... more inside

We're a multi-generational household looking for someone helpful and relaxed to come and stay for a week or so. There's lots to get involved with including various garden projects, hanging out with a 1 year old, helping with some housework and potentially sharing permaculture-inspired design ideas for our beautiful but underused space.

In return for an average of 5 hours work a day (we can be flexible with how this is spread through the week) we can offer you your own room, meals together in the evening and all your food while you're in the house in a peaceful rural location with frequent trains to London half an hour's walk away (always happy to give you a lift into town if we're around).

Our house is friendly and warm and a bit of a mess and there are often people popping in and there's a barbecue and a firepit and we'll drink together and we eat meat and we have a mad cat - if all this sounds like your cup of tea get in touch :-) We have been 'helpers' ourselves during l... more inside

This is a community growing initiative. We are currently implementing estate wide permaculture solutions across the beautiful estate at Stanford Hall. Our current project is the launching of a 7 acre community supported agriculture scheme that will provide vegetables and educational activities for local schools, community growers and surrounding villages. The scheme is utilising no dig, biodynamic principles along side many other cutting edge agricultural techniques.

To get this pioneering scheme off the ground we need to bring together a diverse team of individuals. We've set up a cosy yurt with wood burning stoves. There is access to toilets, hot showers and communal recreational area.

We are looking for volunteers for a tree planting project this winter.

There are tasks to suit all abilities and experience levels, so if you'd like to be a part of this exciting project please get in touch.
