We are a family home comprising of 6 of us (us and our 4 grown up tribe who stay at home sometimes) coming and going , 2 dogs, a rabbit and 3 sheep ecolawn mowers. There is usually lots going on and we like that. We are looking for an individual or couple that are both happy to muck in and be hands on. Short stays are fine, longer stays considered. There are lots of things to do inside the house and out, but we are quite relaxed and open to new ideas. It would be hugely beneficial to us if you have any skills such as carpentry. At this time of year, we need help with a variety of tasks, from strimming and brush cutting, to collecting and preparing firewood. The large garden is always in need of weeding and pruning. Cooking and cleaning are always a welcome addition.
We are at the beginning of growing food and making the most of the land but would like help to build on this. There is also plenty of space for camping, definitely welcome skills to help to build a compost loo, compost... more inside

We have moved into some barns which we converted half into a home and half into an engineering workshop. We are surrounded by spectacular countryside with opportunity for walking and cycling. You would have lots of opportunity to meet people as there are always friends and family visiting so it is a fantastic place to practice english. There is a train station 3 miles away. We have four lovely children aged 10, 9 and 7, and 1, chickens and a vegetable garden.
We have a bedroom and bathroom at the other end of our house so you would have privacy and not be woken up early! We hope to have people who enjoy spending time with children, can help us in the garden and poly tunnel, and help running our busy house hold. (Hanging up washing, help in the kitchen etc)

We are very lucky to live on a farm in the beautiful Lake District, just on the edge of the National Park in Cumbria; the farm dates back to the late 1600's. Over the years parts of it have been renovated and added to and some parts are looking a little sorry for themselves! My mother, myself, my sister and my 7yr old nephew live and work on the farm running a small accommodation business and a successful Friesian horse equestrian centre. We have big plans for the place in the future, however for now we could do with a little help with day-to-day living.

We are on the outskirts of the lovely village of Cartmel which is home to a small racecourse, several very good restaurants and it is famous for it's Sticky Toffee Pudding. You can walk into the village from the farm in just under 20 minutes and there is a local grocery store and several pubs where you can meet friendly locals and visitors from all over the world. The nearest town is Kendal which is about a 20 minute drive away o... more inside

We are a family of five, urgently looking for an extra pair of hands as I, Laura, have broken my arm and need assistance looking after the kids in particular our one-year-old. Experience with young kids and drivers licence would be preferable.

In return we offer accommodation (own room, own bathroom) & meals in beautiful Guernsey. We live close to the beach and St Peter Port.

A 200 year old cotswold stone house located in a small village near Stroud. It has a good size garden on a slope with woodland above and is located in a conservation area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty backing on to the Toadsmoor valley. The house is 25 mins walk from Stroud town centre and has recently undergone major refurbishment which is still ongoing. There are a few shops in the village as well as a pub nearby. The house is surrounded with the hills and countryside on your doorstep...great for forest walks and there are lovely lakes to swim in nearby.. English, Spanish and French is spoken. Helpers stay can stay in a double room or camp in the garden if they like. We aim to work an average of 5 hours per day, 4 days p/week. I have a toddler daughter who lives with me half the week and she's very easy going and sweet. The work is varied but currently there are raised beds to make for growing vegetables, a chicken run to make, chickens to feed and care for, ... more inside

Mick and I live in an area close to Liverpool .We have a horse and 3 small dogs and there are always small jobs which I need help with such as fencing ,gardening and general land maintenance . My partner keeps vintage cars and sometimes needs help with them we use them throughout the summer so sometimes we will be able to take you out in one. We live in a very old house with not much heating so preferably we don't have people from November till April .Some of the work may be painting ,general maintenance, weeding ,strimming, hedge cutting etc The land has got out of control a bit this summer so theres a lot of wood chopping ,grass cutting and bonfires to do we usually suggest working for 4/5 hours one day with the next day off for sightseeing. We never ask anyone to do anything we would not do ourselves .We have space for anyone with a camper van. North Wales /Chester/ Liverpool /Manchester all within easy reach by train or bus . You will have your own comfortable room we ha... more inside

We have nearly finished building a timber workshop and will soon have a good woodworking shop. Our next focus will be the Showman's Wagon. We are moving our home towards being off-grid: digging the well and getting a pump working, increasing solar hot water capacity and installing photo-voltaic panels.
We have a few chickens plus Eva dog and Eric the cat. We have a large garden with a vegetable plot. We enjoy life: working hard, meeting new people and cycling around the South West, especially if it involves a good Somerset pub... We need help with carpentry and building projects, gardening, dog-walking. We can consider long term stays after a trial period.

We are happy to help people learn English and suggest ways to discover our area. We can lend bikes for helpers to get around and explore the countryside. Our village is small and quiet and the area is very beautiful. Somerset is a county with many contrasts: hills, moors, coast and towns.
