Welcome to Brickworth Farmhouse :-)

We are seeking help to run our wonderful 325 year old farmhouse, which is in a beautiful rural setting in the countryside of Southern England .

The house has a walled garden, an orchard, a paddock and poly tunnel and is situated in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, nestled between the historic city of Salisbury and the New Forest, one of England's most treasured forests and heaths, abundant with life & wild ponies.

I shall need help from now till the end of the Summer 2020 with my very gentle 15 hh horse, 14hh New Forest pony and general field, garden and house maintenance. (Sadly my beautiful dog has died recently but I expect to have another young rescue dog by then.) I live in a small village in The New Forest National Park, 3 miles outside the sailing/harbour town of Lymington. The open forest is right outside my front gate with native ponies, donkeys and cattle wandering free. It is a very beautiful area. There are lovely walks from my house in the National Park or down to the sea, and a bicycle to use.

Helpers will have their own bedroom and bathroom, and a living room with telly shared with me. 3 good meals a day will be provided. Vegetarian food is no problem.

I need a male or female used to looking after horses, though they will probably not be required to ride, able to do hedging and outdoor work in good weather! I would usually appreciate 4 - 5 hours work in the mornin... more inside

We are looking for a lovely volunteer (or two) to come and help us with our small bed and breakfast establishment with self catering apartments. We need someone who can stay for about 2/3 months from mid June. We are easy going and enjoy what we do and we ask that you are easy going and flexible too as some days there maybe more to do and on other days less. We can offer you a friendly family house, all food, accommodation, a beautiful area and the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people. In return we would like help with work in the garden and the house and occasional B & Bs plus cleaning and change-overs for the self catering apartments. It would be 4 hours per day six days a week. We live in a very quiet part of Devon, just a mile from the River Dart between Totnes and Dartmouth. There is almost no mobile phone signal here but you will have the use of free wifi. There is a swimming pool which you can use while it is heated (but not while it is full of guests),... more inside

ABOUT US:

We have been working on renovating our dream home for nearly 3 months. It is currently a derelict farmhouse in a stunningly beautiful, isolated setting in North Devon. We are a family made up of me, Jasmine, my partner, Ben, our two daughters, Keeva and Tulip and my mum, Siobhan.

Ben's a builder. He loves using traditional building techniques and is enjoying using his skills to build our home. Ben surfs at our local beaches whenever the conditions are good (which is regularly at the moment), he's getting into brewing beer, and is a laid back, easy going man to hang out with. Having said that, Ben is totally focused on our renovation project and is working on it 5 full days a week. We'd love someone to join Ben in enthusiastically getting involved with the build. Someone to help with the heavy lifting jobs, a labourer, help with the less skilled jobs, unless you have experience in building work - then we'd really appreciate your skills and knowledge - someone who eit... more inside
