Mixed, organic practices farming on 3 acres of land. We need help with weeding and harvesting our great variety of organically grown vegetables and garlic. We also have a micro artisanal chocolate business and could use help in the packaging area. We are looking for short term help from people from all over the world. Louis and I speak English and French fluently, plus limited Spanish. We would love to host a couple or two single folk of any persuasion. We live on magical Denman Island, a very interesting community of one thousand forward thinking, community-oriented people from all over the world. We have two spare bedrooms, overlooking the ocean and mountains of Baynes Sound and Vancouver Island.

Developing homestead.
One year into a small piece of raw land in the Tow Hill neighborhood outside of Massett, Haida Gwaii.
Right now I am just starting to build a small timber frame house of entirely salvaged materials, building outbuildings, log-salvaging and milling wood for that and other projects, water and power systems (on-grid), clearing and stump-pulling and then starting a 1/4 acre garden. On an estuary. About 10 minute walk from Naikoon Park, (thousands of acres of wilderness, muskeg and old-growth rainforest) About 1 minute from the beach. Homeschooling an 8 year old. Great fishing, gathering, hunting, community.
You, like me, would pretty much be camping. ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES in a good way. Good food.

We have an ornamental plant nursery and veggie garden on beautiful Hornby Island. We are looking for help in May, June and September.
We need help running the nursery and garden so a strong, healthy person who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty would be great. We also have honey bees and usually a foster dog or 2. We've had woofers before and are now trying this. Lots of flexibility around how many hours you want to work and if you want to share meals or do your own.
Your accommodation is in a private cabin, close to beaches and the local store (there is wifi). We have a bicycle you can use. Staying here and helping us is a great way to get to know this magical island. Please contact us for more info.

Spring 2015 update: We will be hosting helpers between March and late June in 2015, and also between September and November. We're looking for helpers to join us for a minimum stay of two weeks.

----------------------------------

Jessica Hammersmark and myself, Ryan Nassichuk, a couple in our early thirties, run a small Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) business from a sunny field near the south coast of Quadra Island, British Columbia. We are passionate about soil health and believe that vibrant soil with a balanced abundance of minerals is essential for producing nutrient-dense vegetables and fruits.

We spend ten months of the year working in our field, and are able to harvest vegetables year round. We do not have any children and we do not keep livestock, and we focus most of our energy on growing and distributing the very finest vegetables possible.

We are seeking helpers who are interested in experiencing small-scale vegetable growing. No specific skills are n... more inside

Our property is 10 acres of forested ocean front property. We have about 1 acre in organic vegetables, berries, fruit trees and mushrooms.
