The Greatbanks family, Geraldine and Bob, Eddie, 16, William and Erin, 14, and Charlie, 13. run a gite complex in the beautiful Charente region of France. We have several pets,Daisy, our golden cocker spaniel, Ginge, our aptly named ginger cat, Elvis, the tabby and our 4 chickens. We are right on the Charente/Dordogne border about 3 kms from the village of St Severin and about 6 kms from Aubeterre sur Dronne, which is one of the 100 prettiest villages in France.

The complex comprises of 5 properties, 3 swimming pools, a tennis court, play area and games room.

Hi everyone ! We are Monique and Olivier, from Saint Veran, a very small and sunny village of 200 inhabitants hanging up way high on the mountain, at 2040 meters of altitude, right next to the Italian border, in the Southern French Alps. Saint Veran is a very beautiful and peaceful village, but there is more than that : it is the highest town of all Europe!

Anyways, we own a small backpacker hostel here, but we also rent donkeys for hikers who wish to travel around our beautiful mountains, and who need a long-eared companion that can also carry their stuff.

That's where we need your help! The job involves:

- Helping our clients out with their donkeys, explaining them how to pack their stuff on the saddle.

- Explaining them how not to get lost in the mountain, giving them advice about how to set a camp in the mountains with a donkey and how to manage their new companion.

- Taking care of donkeys in general, helping Olivier to prepare them before they go and great the... more inside

You are prepared to dig, to dig, and then to dig some more, hug-le culture, raised beds, plant an orchard, build a chicken run, help on an ex-farm that is becoming a new farm (?).
This rebirthing of a project needs some independant, hard working, energetic input.

We are building an eco-house using natural and recycled materials. At this stage we have finished the car tyre foundations and we are ready to start building the wooden frame. We are hoping to put in the straw bale walls this year as well. We are doing everything ourselves so we can use some helping hands. We will also start developing our permaculture garden on our 1h property this year. We can offer accommodation in a caravan on-site, don't expect anything luxurious, there's no shower (we just use buckets) and we have a portable compost toilet. We do our best to provide really nice full vegetarian food 3 times a day. Matt is from Australia and An is from Belgium and we have a baby boy who tries to help as well. We live in a beautiful area in the South of France, lots of local markets, rivers, creeks, lakes and stunning views. We are looking for people who are somewhat handy and are willing to learn something new, skills in carpentry and/or other building skills are handy but not n... more inside

We, Pete and Brigitte, moved into our house, in very peaceful South West French countryside, August 2016. The house was finished but the garden was a blank canvas. We are operating as a BnB and have had several guests already. We have 2 horses and sometimes up to 2 liveries. We have 2 very friendly dogs.
What we need : Somebody/ies that will join in. There is weeding and mowing that needs to be done. Stone wall building and wooden raised beds to be made and planted.
Our horses are competition horses, we need somebody that is very competent when handling and riding the horses. We also need somebody that is willing to poo pick, jump on the muckheap and sweep. No Novices.
Some building maintenance help needed – gutters need their joints gluing and the wooden shutters need rubbing down and repainting.
We will definitely not ask anybody to do anything that we would not do ourselves.
The accommodation : A large room with double bed, ensuite bath room with large show... more inside

We need help during the spring and summer with garden work and a bit of renovating. We'd like you to stay with us for 1 or 2 weeks and we'll provide meals in return for 4 or 5 hours work a day.

We'll need help with getting wood cut for the winter months, walking the dog, some gardening and grass cutting (don't worry, it's not a jungle!), maybe some cooking but helping Phil with some work on the renovations would be wonderful. We have to face the house with stone and may need some help with mixing the lime/sand mortar and carrying stuff.

We also grow veggies and hope to plant flowers and hedging. We have hens, a lovely lurcher and an old cat. Accommodation will be in a comfortable small caravan on site but meals, hot showers etc will all be taken in the house. We are quite adaptable so can caters for vegetarians and you won't be totally cut off from the world as we have bikes, telephone and wifi. The property is quite rural in a gorgeous part of France with lots of walks and l... more inside

We are a very new family farm, started in 2013. I (virginie) grow all kind of vegetables, rare varieties as well as newer varieties for tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, melons and such in 700m2 of green houses and on a little less than 2 acres in the fields.

Most of the heavy work has been done but we need help with the day to day routine: planting, weeding and harvesting... and all the surprises and repairs that come unexpectedly on a farm. Alec does construction work on the barn and some mechanical repairs. We have a lot of big projects and a beautiful design for the farm with a lot of permaculture principles being in the mix BUT we also have to run an economically viable farm... france being france, with all its bureaucratic stuff.

The dream farm takes years to be built, in the mean time we throw a lot of good energy in the day to day work, and in the family work too. We have a lively two years old loving to grow on this land and there is a good community of organic farmer... more inside
