Welcome to stay 3/4/6 weeks or more if you wish. Shorter stay will also be considered. Experience would be an advantage but not essential if you are enthusiastic and willing to learn.
In return for help we offer your own double room, bathroom next door, all meals.

Greetings fellow travellers!

My name's Daniel, and I've been using HelpX as a volunteer since 2012. I recently purchased a hundred-year-old stone cottage in County Sligo on the west coast of Ireland. I'm now looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist me in restoring it and developing the one acre of land into a permaculture smallholding.

The cottage (pictured) needs a great deal of work before it's habitable, so accommodation will be in a small caravan on site, or, if you're feeling adventurous, a private tent. You will need a willingness to live a simple outdoor life for the duration of your stay. There is electricity on site for phone and laptop charging, as well as mobile internet, but it's not what you'll be used to in a city. Water is gathered by hand from a natural spring, and the nearest neighbour is a kilometre away (apart from the mooing variety).

The work will be varied, depending on the weather and your area of interest. Don't worry about a lack of expertise. ... more inside

We love a healthy, sustainable, mindful, outdoorsey life, that is mindful of people and planet. Our wish in opening our home to the world is to invite like-spirited souls to come and join us not only in work but in, learning and finding deeper meaning in life. Essentially striving to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be. This might take the form of anything from connecting with the animal world through natural horsemanship right through to close to nature woodland management or experimenting with new technology such as building our own electric bikes or Eco-building or foraging for and growing food.

So, we invite you to come tame some wild children, horses, pigs and general chaos in a wonderful family homestead nestled in 18 acres (8 hectares) of our own magical woodland in the sunny southeast of Ireland. Plus point... more inside

My name is Aonghus.
