Our farm is located in the heart of the Ozarks. We have 320 acres of beautiful rolling pastures and woods. We are truly grass farmers, as we are always working on improving our pasture management techniques to keep all of our livestock well fed on our pastures!

We raise beef cattle, sheep, and hogs for meat that we market through our CSA. Our beef and lamb are 100% grassfed, and we are looking into becoming certified Organic for our grassfed beef, lamb and pastured pork. We have laying hens, two llamas, and many dogs and cats. We also board retired horses for folks from across the country. Daily chores include feeding and watering all of the animals, checking on livestock in the pastures and moving them to a new field if needed, cleaning horse stalls, collecting eggs, and gardening. In addition to the chores, we always have a project or two going on. It can range from fencing, to performing maintenance on farm equipment, to putting up hay. We put up all of our own hay, both ... more inside

Jeff and Nancy have been living in this house since 1996 and have been trying to fix it up and finish it ever since. Beginning as a small log cabin, it now consists of 2700 sf, much is finished, but much still needs to be completed.

We have 8 raised beds outside where we are experimenting with Organic square-foot gardening, learning as we go. We appreciate any help with them from others who know more than we do.

We are practicing Seventh-day Adventist Christians, with a love for the Lord and serve Him in all that we do and how we relate to others. We keep the seventh day as the Bible Sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday and do not work during those hours. We welcome people of all faiths into our home and do not expect anyone to believe as we do, but are more than willing to share information, as we love to learn of other peoples' faiths.

We are certified Raw/Vegan Chefs, in health ministry reaching out to others through teaching a raw/vegan lifestyle and natu... more inside

ARE YOU IN ALIGNMENT?: Who understands permaculture, gardening, loves working with their hands and heart, and has a mindful spiritual practice that honors nature, animals and people? This is smoking, drinking, drugging free zone. Not that they are free, we just don't use them. Highly spiritual space and honoring all paths that have expanded in a Universal oneness. Yet we also do target practice with guns, so must be okay with a little noise once in a while.

THE CREATION: My mission is to create a small community and spiritual retreat for education and for people to connect with nature and heal. We will eventually have organic gardens, fruit trees (if I only knew were to plant them), grapes, a meditation temple, alternative buildings like cob, a community kitchen, music and art spaces to create. The goal is to provide educational seminars on homesteading and healing. Do you have a skill to share and teach that can bring in funding? We have events and gatherings like tree climbs,... more inside

Our farm is run by Cate, Tyler and James. We're in our mid-twenties and we have been farming each for 3-5+ years and taken part in various internships, WWOOFing, MOFGA, and full-time and part-time farming situations. We also have a two-year-old on board. This is our second year for the three of us together, after previously starting Big Muddy urban Farm in Omaha. Here in western Iowa we are doing organic vegetables and berries, wildcrafting, and value-added food products and soap on our small 10 acre farmstead 45 minutes East of Omaha. This year we are a part of a collaboratively run, with another farm, 50 member CSA. We sell to restaurants and will be doing occasional farmer's markets as well. We're expanding fast and would like to add bees and livestock to our line-up this year.

This spring we will have 1 acre in production and two acres freshly plowed and under cover crop. We have two barns, a wood shop, several sheds and a tractor. Projects this year are to build a cold stora... more inside

Our new homestead is located in Detroit in a tight knit neighborhood of farmers and activists North of Six Mile and East of Woodward. This is a lovely historic neighborhood with a large close by park and easy access to both downtown and Ferndale. Palmer Park is a lovely park with a large wooded area, tennis courts, and regular events including free Saturday yoga. Those of us living in the home have been active farmers in Detroit for quite some time. We facilitate a community garden in Midtown/North Cass Corridor, and help out at other local farms as well. Your stay here will include work on our homestead, developing the garden, caring for chickens, setting up a fish farm, building a sustainable apartment in the garage, repairing and refinishing the home, setting up the grey water system, community organizing, setting up hives and work on local community projects including other community gardens in the neighborhood and community gardens in other neighborhoods. We are an urban mini-farm with a natural earth building focus. Our garden is mainly a seed saving operation, as we are focusing on building an earth bag shed and retaining wall in the back yard. Volunteers will learn the techniques and process of building with earth, plastering and finish work. Length of stay will be one week to one month. Spare bedroom with bedding separate from living area, shared kitchen and spare bathroom. Our area has access to a light rail and all the highlights and drawbacks to living in a large city. We have two cats so please no allergic volunteers. Thanks!
