Hi, we have two properties here in upstate NY about 10 minutes apart. One focuses on free range heritage laying hens and the other on vegetable production. Both properties have fruit and nut trees and are using permaculture practices with more design and implementation to be done in the future.

Tim, the farm manager lives at one property, and the owner lives at the other property. There is accommodation at both places.

We are looking for 2 volunteers during peek growing season and one or 2 in the winter. Both volunteers will work at both properties under guidance of the farm manager who loves teaching and sharing, but will probably focus on one property wrt to their work.

We ask for 25hrs of work per week in exchange for a private room and all organic board from a local co-op, farms, and our garden. You will eat very well here and be taken care of.

Preference will be given to those guests who have more experience (in agriculture, gardens, building, nature) an... more inside

###thanks to great helpers, always looking for others####

We're working a Permaculture-inspired homestead with Nubian dairy goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, and Great Pyrenees. We're on the west side of the Blue Ridge, up against the Alleghenies. There's a big garden, and we heat with wood, so we're looking for generalists who are willing to do/learn anything from moving mulch to helping make goat cheese or canning fruits and vegetables, stacking wood, or helping with children or maintenance/buildings. We're a mile from National Forest, Appalachian Trail, and good river and streams -- for swimming, canoeing, hiking. 5 hrs/day work in exchange for a little cabin(see photo, there's a porch on it now) where you can stay and board.

A small homestead farm in a beautiful and quiet area of the Wild and Wonderful West Virginia mountains where the New River, Greenbrier, and Bluestone Rivers all connect. Owned by a Single Farmer with dairy goats, dairy cows, horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, dogs and a canary named Mr. Chirpy. The day to day projects may consist of depending on the season, goats milk soap making, learn how to grow your own food, canning, harvesting, planting, daily farm chores. Learn how to raise pastured broilers, rare duck, goose, turkey and process with commercial equipment. Processing is from May - November every few weeks. You would get experience with Farmers Market on Fridays. There is something to do all day all year. Lay in the hammock and watch the amazing stars at night without the city lights. The birds even sing at night. The small town is 6 miles away. The days are full with lots to do. The river is just below the farm for fishing, hiking, swimming, site seeing wi... more inside

We are a tribe of 5 living as gently and sustainably as we can. We have a small organic farm, recently partnered with a friend's 30-year-old organic farm; so during the growing season we spend time at both locations. We also offer a traditional Hatha yoga class with live Indian Classical music.

Asha is a health coach, yoga instructor, artist, and alchemist. She is also an artistic manipulator of textiles, clay, and cuisine.

Nick is a professional musician, high school soccer coach, homebrewer, and substitute teacher. He offers musical instruction and is experienced with natural building and permaculture principles.

Both are world travelers, helpxers, farmers, potters, and offer instruction in all of their fields.

The kids (ages 4, 6, and 11) are also multitalented, as they are involved in the arts, gymnastics, exploring, gardening, and natural building. They are homeschooled and are involved with all of the projects that go on at the farm.

Our tribe also con... more inside

Our Eco-Resort is located in a remote area of New York State surrounded by 56,000 acres of State Forest. Our place was conceived and built as a family project with my wife Barbara, and three Children. Our oldest son, Mickael, and his wife, Tammy, are now the managers. We have been in operation for nearly 30 years. For most of the week we operate as a remote and contemplative getaway for nature lovers. Every Sunday and Wednesday we become the cultural center in the community as we showcase live music from local artists and serve our famous brick-oven pizza.

I am now a young 74 and have a degree in structural engineering as well as a BFA in Art and Design. I am a master carpenter and builder. My present ambition is Adirondack Style Rustic Furniture. In between traveling abroad, I continue to work on selected woodworking projects and building additional accommodations for our resort. My wife Barbara and I have been happily married for 51 years.

For Spring/Summer 2014 work contin... more inside

My husband Jason (42) and I (36) run a primitive skills school on our developing 138 acre homestead. We have a main house, accessory buildings, and tons of forest. We are novice homesteaders and we're learning as we go! We have 2 indoor cats, a black lab and free range goats and turkeys who mostly haunt the front porch. Accommodations can include the basement with 4 bunks, or tent camping anywhere on the property. We are in need of help with construction projects around the farm (e.g. pavilions, raised beds), simple farming projects like putting in a wheat field for the fall, and/or help teaching classes in primitive skills. If you don't know how to do a hand drill fire now, you will when you leave us.

We live on a beautifully secluded 6 acre property in northwest New Jersey. Close to the Delaware Water Gap recreation area and all kinds of outdoor delights. We are looking for a helper who can drive and is not afraid of children or outdoor work. We have two daughters aged 6 and 9, 7 chickens, 1 golden retriever puppy and 4 cats. We also keep bees and love to garden and compost. We are an omnivorous family, we try to eat very well and with the seasons. We have had great experiences with helpers in the past and look forward to having more in the future!

We are a family living in the Philadelphia suburbs. Barbara is a graduate student and Ben works at a local university. Their two boys are aspiring musicians and are home/cyber-schooled.

We purchased a 150-year-old farmhouse and could use help with general maintenance. We need help with the garden and general labor.

Philadelphia is not far, less than 15 minutes by car. Delaware is 30 minutes south and New York City is approximately two hours away.

Barbara is vegetarian, Ben and the boys are not. There is a gas grill available. Please let us know in advance if you have special dietary needs.

We have four pets: a small dog, cat and two new cats after our friends' home was severely damaged in Hurricane Sandy.

Our home has free wifi.
