This is a Grade 2 listed building which looks like a miniature octagonal tower/castle which has been restored and refurbished over a period of many years most of the work being carried out by father/son and local craftspeople. It is located near a beautiful wooded area overlooking the town of Stratford upon Avon and only a 15 minute walk to the centre. We have recently built a sauna in the garden shed and now have a dog as well.

There are jobs to be undertaken in the outside area which would require a reasonable level of skill and physical strength. Work would entail fencing, painting exterior woodwork, help in the vegetable garden, mowing the grass and general gardening. We are looking for short stays during the summer months of up to 2/3 weeks.

We are a family with our two sons and partner living here. We are mostly non-meat eaters and have a vegetable garden supplying some of our needs. My husband Mal is a restoration architect and I have worked as a Stained Gl... more inside

I live on a tiny smallholding overlooking the sea in wild west wales. It is a beautiful area of ancient woodland, sea and beaches, and lots of people who live simply on the earth. I am currently building a house and am looking for someone who loves cooking to cook for a team of three. We do eat meat, but we like mostly salads and vegetables on our plates! Cleaning duties also. (If you are a couple then the other person could help with firewood cutting, smallholding maintenance and easy building work.) We are a fun team - who build with joy and laugh a lot - and also support each other when we cry! I love yoga and meditation. The accommodation is a caravan with electricity and heater. Compost toilet. Access to hot shower. VERY LIMITED WIFI.

**DUE TO 3 VOLUNTEERS NOT TURNING UP, I HAVE SPACES FROM 5TH - 31ST JULY

No vacancies in August but taking bookings for September and beyond

The Walled Gardens were formerly the kitchen garden for Maristow House. The gardens fell into a state of severe neglect and I am trying to restore them to their former glory, and to use the process of restoration for a number of community projects. We've been working with long-term unemployed people, offenders and ex-offenders, people with mental health issues, school groups and students from the Universities of Plymouth and Bath.

There are 2 acres currently under production, another one to reclaim this year, a large Victorian greenhouse that needs restoring and another 2 that need rebuilding, and a whole host of other projects besides.

There's a variety of things to do here, gardening is only one part of it. We also need to repair some old stone buildings, clear new areas of ground for cultivation, manage the woodland, start a s... more inside

13-acre smallholding 6 miles from Llanidloes with geese, pigs, orchard, large veg and fruit garden and small commercial flock of free range chickens.

Help-X volunteers help us with all aspects of the farm - vegetable growing, picking and preserving, collecting and packing eggs for sale and helping with livestock and firewood. Help-X volunteers get a double bedroom, lots of good home-made food, compost loo and the chance to get involved in the life of a diverse small farm enterprise.

Chris is an ex-wwoofer from Old Chapel Farm where we lived in 2010-11 before we moved here. We are passionate about making a family-friendly business out of our small farm and like to involve people and teach them new skills. We welcome Help-Xs who really want to get involved in farm life and who are enthusiastic and self-reliant.

Projects for 2015:

We currently have 70 chickens and are producing eggs for sale for two shops and several local customers.

We are getting back up to speed with... more inside

We have a small organic garden with ducks and chickens and our own little fishing boat. We love cooking and eating. Suzanne homeschools our 11 year old boy, Lawrence, and Richard runs his own business. We are always very busy and sometimes in the summer the garden just gets the better of us. We would like someone to help us out in the garden with occasional child/dog/chicken & duck sitting thrown in. Suzanne is a German speaker and has a TEFL qualification. She would like a native German speaker with whom she can practise and who would speak German with Lawrence In return she could help a foreign student with their English. Helpers would have their own bedroom (a large caravan) and bathroom. Internet access is available. We live in an old fishing village in an area rich in history in the Highlands of Scotland.

I have a Motor-home I would like to share with someone and enjoy a journey with this summer. France, Spain and Portugal (and Italy if funds are sufficient) are my preferred destinations. Contact me if this sounds a good idea.

PLEASE NOTE MY PET HATE:

When Hosts or Companions write:

"Hey drop me a line, lets' talk"
or
"Let's hang out together"

then you write an e-mail to them and they don't even bother to reply. Why write "Hey drop me a line and let's talk" if you cannot even be bothered enough to reply?
Very bad manners.

I ALWAYS respond graciously when asked to host, even if I do not have a place.

Besides, after a short chat you might find yourself changing your mind and broadening it by being with someone who is completely different to you.

Rant over ... :-)

************

If you are travelling between places in the UK, I can offer accommodation and food for a short while.

I have bought a motorhome and want to tour places that I could cheaply build... more inside

We recently inherited a small organic farm and are in the process of getting it back on its feet. The farm has mostly been used for livestock over the years, but we are re-establishing a vegetable field and managing/replanting orchards. It is situated in the beautiful Cotswolds and boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside and small fields which have been managed traditionally for years. We are walking distance from the village and a short drive from Cheltenham.

We are looking for enthusiastic helpers to aid with our endeavours and help with projects around the farm! We can offer very comfortable accommodation in a beautifully converted barn (for a one person or a couple) with fresh, organic, home-made food.

English and French spoken :) Contact us for more details!
