We are a small family run croft on the banks of Loch Shin in Sutherland. Shinness is a small traditional crofting community approximately 4 miles outside of Lairg. We set up Highland Croft Produce at a time when things were difficult for crofters and farmers alike with Foot and Mouth and low lamb prices. All our produce is naturally reared to the highest standard and we believe that quality is not to be compromised.
We also have other animals on the Croft including 2 horses.
We would like help with general croft duties and in addition experienced horse riders to help with schooling and exercising the horses.
If you would like to help us, we have a varied list of chores including lambing, haymaking, shearing other chores include looking after other animals on the croft including hens, goats, dogs and ferrets.
As we are a small croft chores tend to be light leaving plenty of time to explore our beautiful scenery. If you would a chance to enjoy some time working on a croft and wor... more inside

We run an organic smallholding in a beautiful valley just a mile from the sea near to a lovely stretch of the Coastal Path. On our land we have a small flock of hens, an orchard, a large polytunnel full of fruit and vegetables, Kune Kune pigs to help keep grass under control, a large vegetable, fruit and flower garden with ponds, solar PV, a well, lots of trees, lots of wildlife including badgers and sometimes sheep and calves. Keen on environmental issues and eat a mainly vegetarian organic wholefood diet. We work part-time and need help at certain times of year.

This is a community focused market garden based at Walcot Hall in South Shropshire. Its purpose is to encourage food gardening through inspiration, demonstration and information.

In 2012 work began creating a number of display gardens of different sizes and designs. A self-sufficient garden, large enough to feed two adults and two children over the whole growing year, has already been completed.

Help is needed to manage the current garden and also develop further gardens including a school style garden and smaller gardens designed to inspire those with less available growing spaces or in urban areas.

All the gardens are managed without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides and minimal external inputs in general.

Volunteers will have a unique opportunity to learn about growing delicious organic produce in the surrounds of an idyllic country estate set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

My name is Hector and I run an equestrian eventing yard in Wiltshire not far from the Badmington Horse Trials.
I would like a helper who has had experience with horses and is not afraid of hard work ! The work will involve mucking out stables, filling hay nets, taking horses out to pasture, riding if good enough, handling young horses and generally mucking in with all that is going on.
I am 24 yrs and running my own business. I event horses for my clients as well as breaking in and schooling young stock.
I enjoy other sports such as football, squash and tennis.
I live in a flat above the stables with my Scottie dog Dougal. The yard is situated on a beautiful estate in the Wiltshire countryside.

I have a spare room in the flat and will provide an evening meal. There will be food with which to make your own breakfast and lunch.

I look forward to hearing from you...

Check out my website for more info and photos

Hello. We're a busy family of 5, with three girls aged 11, 8 and 4 and a half. I (mum) am training to be a midwife which involves long hours away from the house. John (dad) is a secondary school teacher so cannot always get back in time to collect the girls from school.

We live in Nailsworth, a pretty Cotswold town which has shops, cafes, lovely country walks and it's a 10 minute bus ride to Stroud. We have a big garden which your bedroom overlooks (see photo 4). You have your own shower room, wifi and meals included.

In return we need help with the kids and some housework/laundry: 5 hours a day (weekdays only) walking the kids to school in the morning, tidying up, putting dirty clothes into washing machine, putting clean clothes into cupboards, light cleaning. You'd be free until 3pm when you'd collect the girls again and look after them until John or I get home. About 5 hours a day total, Monday- Friday.

This would suit someone who's comfortable with kids, maybe from a ... more inside

Amazing opportunity…

From SEPTEMBER 2014…I require a tutor to teach my 2 children (UK education curriculum with alternative/progressive slant) in ESSAOUIRA, MOROCCO

I am a single parent planning to take my two children (a boy of 12 and girl of 11) out of the UK school system for 6 months to a year, to have a totally different experience. The idea is to live in Essaouira in Morocco and experience a different way of life - away from consumerism, mainstream media, never ending screen addiction and bad British weather - with a view to staying longer.

This will be a trial to see whether an unconventional life abroad may become a longterm commitment. I am a writer & stylist, blogger and DJ and hope to start a business designing while I am living in Morocco. My children are very enthusiastic - we creative people with a love of reading, watching films, listening to music, dancing and cooking delicious homemade vegetarian food.

I feel there is more to life than being a slave to ... more inside

Help please giving TLC to a 1 acre organic (non-certified) garden and additional 1 acre of land (which have been unloved by the previous owners for several years) in preparation for running yoga and spriritual retreats in the spring/summer 2014. The land is next to a site of special scientific interest. Project will include gardening, hedge laying, preparing a herb garden and fern garden and various water features and erecting/establishing a poly tunnel for organic home grown veg. Also if the volunteer(s) has/have the skills and experience, help is required converting an outbuilding to a bedroom with en suite bathroom for retreats and building some yurts. Help and guidance can be provided by a gardener with years of experience, if required, who is already helping with the project.

Currently looking for helpers from the end of September with food and board included.

We are a smallholding on the North Devon coast looking for volunteers for a diverse (and very exciting!) array of projects.

Last winter we set-up a luxury campsite with yurts and bell tents and we are just coming to the end of our opening season. Now that we have the business up and running we are looking for help with getting the next few projects up and running. This is mainly a case of getting the farm into working order and creating a truly self-sufficient smallholding.

Over the next 5 months projects include,
building and landscaping a market garden with greenhouse and polytunnel
Fencing works around the farm to make it all livestock proof
Looking after the pigs and other animals
A number of woodwork projects including field shelters and stores
Tree planting in a number of areas
Woodland management and some coppicing.
I hope some of those sound of interest.

We have a... more inside

This is a 17.5 h working broadleaf woodland, managed for the long term benefit of all its non-human inhabitants. We produce firewood, sawn timber, charcoal, coppiced hazel, yurt poles and simple carpentry made out of sawn timber.

It has a spacious furnished cabin heated by a Rayburn and a Jotul. There is a kitchen, filtered rainwater, an outside heated bath and a composting toilet. Food would be supplied to be cooked on the Rayburn and and two gas rings. Food will be supplied for cooking on site.

We need people to help us move timber, wood and brash, to plant saplings and to help in the sawmill. You will begin to learn the arts of coppicing and eco-forestry by actually doing it.
