Help wanted! 2020 and beyond!

We have meadows, pasture, woodland, lakes and stunning views of both sea and mountain. We grow veg, meat and eggs and milk.

We want to live in the more beautiful world that our hearts know can exist. We are just starting out and this is on a small and sustainable human scale that we hope will provide food and fuel for visitors to the farm and the local community. We are using holistic management, permaculture and traditional methods.

As well as being productive, we want this to be a place where people can come and slow down for a while, to think about what matters in the world and what the world needs us to give back.

We have been here for seven years, but it’s a long journey, so much of this is aspirational, but we will get there (especially with your help).

We have a young family and so some of the time you would be left to your own devices for cooking and eating dinner etc so you would have to be happy to spend some time by yourself... more inside

We are a family run smallholding where we keep 450 free range chickens for eggs, run an award winning artisan bakery, sell fruit and veg from our market stall and, along with our business partners, run a coffee shop.

We have a small, permanent and very friendly workforce but we always have too much to do. At the moment, we are looking for help with mainly outside work such as feeding the chickens and collecting and packing eggs, grass cutting, carpentry and chicken hut maintenance. We also need help in our shop and with our market stall, and if food is your interest, with food prep for the café and bakery. Our business is very busy and there's always a lot going on here.

Accommodation is in a separate building which can sleep a maximum of 4 people - this has its own shower and toilet. We are a very friendly household and will treat you as one of the family. We try to make our helpers stay as pleasant as we can and try our best to provide the food you would like as we ... more inside

Hi, We have a Smallholding with young woodland, now being developed, some organic grazing is managed by an Organic farmer who rents the fields. Judith grows plants for other people's gardens where she works, as well as for our own, ornamental and edible. The smallholding is on the edge of a village. The land is mostly sloping. We have a few protected cropping areas and beds for outdoor veg. Some fruit trees and a little cabin for letting as holiday rent, the website given is mainly about this, but includes photos of the general area. Accommodation for helpXer would be in the house, where we have a spare room. We are looking for help with general maintenance on the smallholding from time to time. If your skillset includes gardening, landscaping, woodland management or you are wanting to gain experience in these, please consider joining us. If not, we may have other tasks you'd enjoy, so let us know what you can offer.
The area is near the Cambrian Mountains, with Snowdonia National... more inside

**Help needed in the garden and house decorating**

“Our place exists to provide our family with a sustainable foundation, to ensure that the land and its special energy is handed down to future generations in a thriving state, whilst being a beacon of inspiration to others”

The reason we embarked on taking volunteers from Wwoof or HelpX is to enable people to come and learn the importance of regenerative organic food production and we try and do this whilst having a low impact lifestyle. This is important for a sustainable way forward for human beings to continue to inhabit this planet. We are evolving and exploring ways to achieve this.

We live quite comfortably* and eat well and in return we expect our volunteers to be keen to join in with the work and to be enthusiastic members of the team, as well as eager to learn more by joining us some evenings watching DVDs to learn more about and to discuss environmental issues. This way we can all share our knowledge, thoughts an... more inside

Hi Helpers,
We run a high quality dinner, bed & breakfast from our home, Melfort House, in the Scottish Highlands. Melfort House has a reputation for providing luxurious, elegant accommodation and excellent food. We operate a 54 foot polytunnel which provides us with veg and salad for our business and family. We have a stretch of foreshore onto Loch Melfort, some native woodland and number of fields and paddocks around the house which provide grazing to livestock. We have two children (17 & 22) who are away from home but occasionally make an appearance at weekends and holidays, and 2 dogs. We need 1 or 2 people (a couple or friends) to help us - preferably for a 3+ week stay. Our helpers need to have good English to converse with our guests. We need people who are happy to be flexible and prepared to help with the garden & polytunnel, dog walking and house keeping. In return, we can offer private, spacious accommodation, all food, laundry and WIFI. We are surrounded by... more inside

We are a long established community of about 40 adults and 10 children, producing most of our own food on our mixed farm. We hand-milk our cows and produce occasional beef, and keep pigs, sheep, chickens and turkeys. Lots of fruit trees, soft fruit and vegetable beds, plus field-scale cereals and potatoes. Most of us eat communally in our purpose-built kitchen, with the keen cooks amongst us taking it in turns to prepare lunch and dinner each day.
We seek, very imperfectly, to be ecologically responsible in how we live here, and to take all significant decisions by consensus.
We live on the edge of a village, with a shop five minutes walk away, and two pubs a little further. Fifteen minutes the other way is Flatford Mill, a National Trust estate famous for its John Constable connections (he painted our house too!) and delightful walks in Dedham Vale. Regular buses to the towns of Ipswich and Colchester stop at our front gate.
We look for volunteers for two weeks at a time, from ... more inside
