I am a small beginning farmer trying to get my farm semi or fully self sustaining by using salvaged materials. I need at least two self motivated persons with some mechanical abilities and creativity. I have several projects that need to be completed including the guest bunk house and fence expansion. I currently have one extra room in my home which will be furnished with a bed and a sofa for my guest's until the bunk house is complete. My guests will need to help with daily tasks around my farm in exchange for a nice clean bed (or sofa), a stocked kitchen and a nice hot shower. There will be some amount of a stipend depending on what work can be found off of the farm. I currently have three pigs eight goats and two dogs and I am expanding my herd as funding allows. If you have a car or truck that would be a plus since I am located 8+ miles from the nearest town.

Hello, we live in a suburb of Washington D.C. The transportation system (Bus & Metro) is the best in the nation and will have you in D.C in a half hour! Perfect opportunity for someone who has always wanted to see Washington D.C. We are a very flexible family with a lot of herbs growing in our yard. The ideal person must love nature, cooking, and won't mind doing a little light errands around the house. We have an amazing estate which demands a lot of our time - From watering flowers to gathering hibiscus flowers. We even have a pool in our backyard. Incredible location if you are into exploring. We are a self-organizing community running a certified organic farm that produces a large percentage of the seed we sell through our heirloom seed company.

This Spring we will begin building a new office for our growing business and community. It will be constructed largely out of non-toxic, natural and/or local materials, and will feature a variety of low energy input and high efficiency systems, including passive solar design.

We’re looking for interns to join us in this project. Construction will begin the end of April, and last through fall. Internship periods are flexible. Experienced builders are certainly welcome, however we want this to be an educational opportunity, and will work with whatever ability you’re at. As we’re a feminist community, we want to specifically encourage non-male identified folks to join us, seeing as a disproportionate percentage of males are represented in the mainstream building sector.

We expect at least 24 hours a week of farm, constr... more inside
