Vacancy in August for an experienced person.
Our Farm is a not for profit social enterprise. we are re learning and teaching farming skills for the uncertain future so your efforts are for the common good.

We are located near a small town the heart of the Pennine hills, in a stunning landscape. It rains a lot here, but there is a really friendly local culture and several interesting big cities within easy reach.

We use permaculture methods and many innovative teqniques to produce almost year round for direct sales to local houses, farm shop and and local eateries.
We also produce fruit trees, and have two Jersey milk cows and poultry.
We are very hard working but have a hardworking but informal atmosphere. We also host school parties and go out to teach growing in schools.
You might find yourself helping to grow veg, scything hay, milking the cows,or giving a tour of the site to a group of Chinese visitors. Anything is possible!

We are a busy family in South London very close to the city centre (20min to Victoria). Grant works in central London, Sally works from home, we have a 3yr old and 1yr old. We have large green spaces and park walking distance from the house and high streets of Beckenham and Bromley.

We have a small single bedroom in the house for helpx helpers to stay. Helpers can use internet with their stay and provide their own food (we provide space in the fridge and pantry for you). Because of our busy schedule we cannot provide shared meals sorry but always offer if we are there :)
Help work is for people that LOVE kids and family life and like getting stuck in. 3hrs a day per in exchange for your stay. Have the music on, play with the kids, help in the garden and enjoy.

We expect helpx helpers to be self motivated and enthusiastic towards helping the family - and we are around for guidance. We welcome conversation and interaction with the family. Our 1 yr old will instigate... more inside

*****We are now accepting helpers for the 2019 season*****

Our farm started in May 2017. We grow vegetables, herbs and edible flowers for chefs and restaurants in Cambridge and London. Our produce is grown and harvested with attention to detail so that we can provide our customers with the freshest, highest quality produce possible. We grow some British staples, and experiment with some more exotic varieties, so you’ll have a chance to learn about a wide range of vegetables.

Our heavy horses Bill and Ben provide the power for all of our field work. The equipment used on the farm was imported from our Amish friends in Sugar Creek, Ohio. Although this might make us look like a historical farm these are in fact amazing pieces of engineering, and mean we can cultivate more land, more quickly, producing a wider range of delicious crops than would be possible by hand or tractor.

We're one of the few farms in the UK to use horses to work the land. We chose this approach... more inside

The Presbytery is an old vicarage now used as our home with a large garden, tennis court, field and some woodland. We - Penny (now retired from working in our National Health Service) and Frank (retired from working in education) - are an older but active couple and we will welcome anyone to help us maintain the property (outside and inside). The garden and outside areas - especially around the tennis court (which may be used) and field need clearing of undergrowth and adjacent trees pruned back and needs general upkeep. Inside the house needs some decorating and other general maintenance work. Penny has some health issues and cannot tolerate cigarette smoke, so there cannot be smoking anywhere in the house.

The Presbytery is in the East Sussex countryside (classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty) and public transport is quite limited. However, we do have two bicycles that can be borrowed and there are beautiful walks nearby. We can reach the railway station in abo... more inside

Hello dog lovers.

We would love to welcome you to our home in the small but busy market town of Frome in Somerset (has won awards as the best small town in the UK). http://www.discoverfrome.co.uk/frome/
We have been hosting for a couple of years and have enjoyed meeting new friends from all over the world.

The most important thing is that you need to be happy with dogs and taking them out for walks. It is a great way to explore the town and surrounding countryside. Our 2 dogs love long walks and we are happy if they are happy!

Apart from dogwalking, we are happy for people to help us in the house or our garden. At the moment there is fruit to pick and weeding. You can help with cleaning, cooking, gardening or decorating. If you have other specialist skills like carpentry, do let us know.

Our house in Frome is about 10 minutes walk from the centre and within walking distance of the cinema, the railway station, the leisure centre, the theatres and the countryside.

We are based in a Grade II* Romantic Gothic mansion located just south of the English Lake District. It is situated in 70 acres of woodland and gardens on the shores of Morecambe Bay. It provides a quiet and reflective environment for a meaningful break.

The help required is varied and might include cooking, helping in the garden, household, doing office tasks, decorating etc. We also have various building projects at present that you could get involved in. We are always interested to hear about any specific skills you may be able to offer. Although the work is not always strenuous you will need to be reasonably fit and active to come on a volunteering visit.

In the Kadampa Art Studio there is scope to volunteer in the Finishing Team, assisting with sanding and filling etc. of Statues and Temple Adornments bound for destinations around the world. Short and longterm voluntary visits are available.
