UPDATE: we currently have family staying in the spare room so are unable to offer any space to helpX guests until they move out which will most likely be some time in the new year, sorry to all that had expressed an interest.

Our last helpX guests were wonderful primary school teachers with a lot of childcare experience so they looked after our children while we were working upstairs clearing out the loft. We will probably be looking for help over the the summer holidays, we may be able to offer a stay from 24/07 to 07/08 and 19/08 to 31/09 in exchange for spring cleaning and childcare. We will be offering 3 days work for a weeks stay or you can do one solid weeks work then have a second week off to explore London and the surrounding countryside.

We are 7 minutes walk to the train station that runs services into London every 10 mins. The train takes 40 mins to central London or 30 mins to London Bridge so great for people wanting to see the city. We are also half an hour ... more inside

A unique and quirky garden which has been open in the national Garden Scheme for over 35 years. Mill Barn is a series of delights. Along the R Darwin, in Lancashire, through the tiny secret grotto, past the suspension bridge and view of the fairy-tale tower, visitors can a stroll past folly, sculptures, lily pond, and lawns, enjoy the naturally planted flowerbeds, then enter the secret garden and through it the pathways of the wooded hillside beyond.

Your hostess is, a retired social worker, whose husband, a retired lecturer, is the gardener and a member of the National Garden Scheme. The garden is open on two weekends in June 13,14,20,21 when 300 to 400 people visit. 6 volunteers attend on each day to support the four openings.

I would appreciate the help of an assistant event organiser for two weeks from June 9 to June 23nd 2020. This is an annual event. I have accepted an application for this year 2020.

The role involves, before the events getting to know how the... more inside

We, my daughter and I, are building a timber frame house in 'Wikihouse.cc' system from scratch on a 1 acre paddock/orchard in Kingsbridge, South Devon Coast, South West England from Mach 2020.

My lasts hosts in Preston are also currently looking for a long term replacement helper (I stayed 2.5 years) with their own lovely flat, please look at his help x account or Millbarn.net.

Wikihouse is an open source building system where ALL components are made of standard plywood sheets which are cut by laser machines to minimise wastage. Delivered as flatpack and assembled on site minimised carbon footprint as well as the reduced foundation due to less weight of the structure. Just check the website. We will build as ecological with sustainable ,materials AS POSSIBLE. Sustainable insulation, cork floors, solar panels etc.

As of 2019 I now live in nineteenth century Victorian villa in a small English seaside town, 5 minutes walk from the beach and with lots of walks in the beautiful Devonshire countryside.

During the process of renovating this 5 bedroomed house I require help with all aspects of garden work; if you also have some skills in carpentry or house renovations this would be useful.

The accommodation is comfortable and you would have your own room, with a double bed and shared bathroom. There is wifi of course so you can use a laptop or smartphone.

The feedback below is from when I lived in Spain until 2018 but my permanent home is now the UK.

I only reply to people if they have a pic, as I live solo and like to see the person I am inviting to my house. Thanks, Darryl

***We are looking for helpers in Feburary 2020***

We are a family of four - Ricardo from Cuba, Katherine from Ireland, Mila our daughter, aged 6 and Lope our son, born in February 2019 (so a newborn). Ricardo is a physics lecturer and I am a sociologist, both working in universities.

We moved into our Victorian house on the outskirts of London around three years ago. We have had some wonderful helpers helping us restore and decorate the house in that time.

We would like to host someone who can help with general work around the house - cooking, tidying, and babysitting (with a parent present) - not intensive cleaning as we have a regular cleaner. Basically generally holding baby every now and/or playing with Mila so Katherine can nap! We also have a nice garden which badly needs some attention.

Due to the size of the spare bedroom, we can only realistically host single helpers.

We are a friendly bilingual house and have had really wonderful experiences with helpx w... more inside
