We will be hosting Helpx again in 2019 from Spring to Autumn and we offer a double room with en-suite bathroom, plus meals, for 20 hours manual work per person per week, based on working 9.00 to 13.00 five days, so this will best suit robust individuals! We have about an acre of ground at home, plus we have another acre and a half 10 mins walk away. We especially enjoy gardening, both flowers and vegetables. We welcome help with garden work, such as outdoor painting, weeding, and mending. The work will often involve active jobs, e.g. cutting brambles and wood, moving manure, digging etc, so you need a reasonable level of mobility/fitness, and it is helpful (but not at all essential) if you are willing to use power tools, such as strimmer and mower! If you would like to join us for a while you will need working clothes and suitable outdoor working footwear, as we still work if the rain is not too heavy! However, if the weather is too bad to work outdoors, ordinary domestic jobs su... more inside

We live in a decent sized old house in Layer de laye, close to Colchester (Britains oldest recorded town)

Our village has two pubs, a shop, a woodland a few minutes walk away. There is a frequent bus service in to Colchester. And we can give lifts too.

We are non smokers. If you smoke you can do so in the garden.

Our house is a historic listed building, 300 years old in parts. On site we have a koi pond, a swimming pool, hot tub, plenty of weights and exercise equipment, and a bike. If you like activities there will be plenty to amuse yourself with.

We are a couple in our early 60's looking for a little help around the home, nothing too challenging. Gardening, light house work etc for a few hours a day.

You are especially welcome if you hold any marketing skills and can help with Rob's photography.

In return we'd be happy to offer meals and a nice private room.

We are new to helpX, it was recommended by our son who has travelled in North America and Austr... more inside

Richard Glyn Foundation - Gaunt's House

Set in acres of beautiful land with a Georgian/ Edwardian period house built in the 18th Century by Sir Richard Glyn. The Richard Glynn Foundation (a charity) was set up to offer opportunities for profound learning and seeks to instil values of community, honesty and openness.

Based on a small country estate, we have a Victorian walled garden, which is being developed over time into an oasis of food production and a wildlife haven. We have inherited a much neglected garden and a lot of the work this year is in restoration, as well as trying to build new areas and grow new things in a more natural, sustainable and friendly manner.

We grow vegetables, herbs and flowers using organic gardening techniques. If you have gardening experience, this is very welcome and will be embraced. If not, a 'can do' attitude is all that is needed, and we can teach you!

We love to welcome enthusiastic, hard working volunteers that have a keen ... more inside

Currently have space for volunteers as follows:
*????? 1-2 volunteers but most of the work will be helping clean the house and look after the cats and chickens and gardens - please note this can be a cold climate we do not yet have central heating and facilities are really basic compared to modern living !

We are at the early stages of restoring an old, large and characterful building, parts of which date to the 14th Century, with a walled garden, orchard and vegetable patch. We`ll be creating a small yoga studio, accommodation rooms and community spaces. In the medium to long term we hope the site will host retreats and small scale events.

We need help with all kinds of work, including:
* helping with chores, keeping the house clean and tidy
* looking after the greenhouse and veg patch
* taking care of the chickens and cats

We are a couple from Cornwall who are helping to run the family's small holding. We are fun loving, hard working individuals who are enjoying implementing Permaculture designed buildings, allotment, polytunnel, animal areas, forest garden and ponds. We have a large variety of projects on the go from building sheds to 12v solar/wind systems and rocket mass heaters to apple tree guilds. We are interested in planting edible/medicinal plants and already have some on the go ready to harvest for tintures! Our work varies between building, gardening, animals and holiday lets. Exciting :)
Nick normally works full-time at home finishing and experimenting with new ideas whilst Rosie works full-time as a primary school teacher.
Nicks family also live at home, so there's always lots going on and we often eat communally :)

Accommodation is in a cosy caravan with a beautiful view, surrounded by trees.
Our key aim is to put projects in place and then educate about the many benefits of l... more inside

We live in a lovely old house on a 16 acre organic smallholding set in beautiful woodland and countryside in Dartmoor National Park. We have 5 dogs (all lurchers), 5 cats, 2 ponies and 5 sheep. We are Judy and Nick, friendly old lefty hippies, interested in people, nature and the world in general. We have 21 year old twins who are mostly away at university.

We are looking for help from a strong, cheerful woman who would enjoy general farm, land, and garden work. In return we will offer a cosy room, lots of very good food, good company and the chance to learn about healing, dog psychology and training - if that would interest you.

A small spending allowance may be paid if you have special skills or experience.

We would be happy with someone coming here for a month or two - though sometimes we take people for a couple of weeks.

We like strong, friendly people who enjoy working outside and on the farm and in the garden.

Our property has hay and wildflower meadows, str... more inside

Cwrt y Cylchau is a stone farm house and outbuildings situated with five acres of sheltered and peaceful land in a valley in the hills. Surrounded by mature trees and bordering a mountain stream, we have a forest garden, vegetable beds, polytunnel, ponds, coppices, meadows and woodland. Sheep graze part of the land whilst some meadow is left to encourage wildflowers. Wildlife is a priority and permaculture informs the management of land and lifestyle here. Currently there are three residents. Some residents have jobs away from home. The owner is home-based and usually available to work alongside volunteers.
Guests and volunteers are accommodated in the farmhouse or may camp in summer months. People sometimes come here for retreat, enjoy the tranquility, breathe exceptionally clear air and find silence interrupted only by birdsong and the sounds of wind and river.
Volunteers are asked to help with the daily and seasonal activities. These might be gardening jobs connected with growi... more inside
