Who we are

We're a very active, young at heart couple of English early retirees who have converted a barn to a house, which we'd like some help to finish, renovating what will become a gite and taking control of the garden, which is a bit of a jungle at the moment. Never having had a garden in England, we're on a steep learning curve with our plot of 5000 square metres (just over an acre).
We're both keen cyclists, Nick especially loves doing cols in the Pyrenees and he keeps bonsai trees. Jackie enjoys sewing, patchwork, textile arts and most things crafty in what little spare time she has, teaches English and basic French and plays guitar. We're members of the local cycling and walking clubs and active members of the local community.
We grow lots of our own fruit and veg and consider ourselves good cooks.

Where we are

We live in the Gers, in south west France, surrounded by vineyards and 4km from a small town whose proudest boast is its motor racing circuit which has ev... more inside

Bonjour,

We are bringing back to life a 500 year old French house in the foothills of the mountains that has suffered more than 50 years of neglect. It has a fertile garden that is totally, naturally organic but needs clearing and planting with our choice of vegetation rather than what chooses to grow there itself (in great profusion).

The sort of jobs that we would like help with include food preservation, cleaning, re-organising, repairing, rebuilding, decorating in the house, clearing, landscaping, planting, weeding, power and other tool maintenance and repair, etc.

We are looking for people who share our desire to have a simple sustainable lifestyle that is stress free and very much aligned with the principles of nature. We like to meditate, practise yoga, we are vegetarian, we do not smoke or drink alcohol, and we prefer wherever possible to use herbs and natural healing methods over allopathic medicine.

We aim to enjoy working with you in all these exciting projects. During t... more inside

Spring is here now finally! and i need help on my secluded and quiet horse farm in the beautiful Limoges area of central France, at Retabout, soon to be the home of some elephants as my next door neighbours are building an elephant sanctuary!. I have two horses however. The horses live in freedom, yet still need handling and caring for. I have a natural horsemanship approach and know how to do a natural hoof trim, which I can teach you.
I have got MS and that's why I am limited in my energy
There is also work to be done with the fences, clean out the barns, driving a tractor to clear meadows and feed the horses hay, work in the garden and other farm type work. If you are a mechanic you can help with the two antique tractors.

I am looking for people that can help me in the either of following ways:
- all the kinds of work mentioned above. You help me about 4 hours a day, i offer free meals and accomodation
- you help 2 hours a day and I offer accomodation. You organize your... more inside

I am hoping to be able to Host people who will appreciate a Spiritual & Rejuvenating place that has a Special Charm & ambience. The property comprises a picturesque converted farm building built of wood & stone nestling in extensive wooded grounds high on the valley hillside in the Pyrenees-Orientales with awesome views of the sacred Mount Canigou, the historic village of Eus & the surrounding mountain range. Added new photo of bedroom. Rather whited out by the sun, I'm afraid. Now in 2019 & much has been achieved but more needs to be done (Gaia does not rest). A couple of Helper cancellations means I can offer the Double Room for 1 or 2 visitors. I have a request to those who are not sincere in wanting to visit, please only get in touch if you really wish to help. I've just had to throw away a week's worth of food bought for people who changed their minds last minute. As I only have a small Pension I cannot afford to waste food like that.

As ever dead trees & weeds need clearing... more inside

We are now looking for helpers for early 2019, end of February onwards. DIYers, gardeners, carpenters will all be welcome.
Hosts.. We are English.John and Barbara, retired teachers.
We have owned our property, not a farm, more of a very large garden, since 1989. We now spend half the year here.We have much less energy but still need to keep on top of a productive garden and continue renovations. We have catered for vegans, vegetarians, celiacs and other needs/preferences. We try to be organic gardeners and be self-sufficient with fruit and veg. We keep ducks for eggs, hatching new ones this year (hopefully). Come and help raise them in March/April
Broadband wi-fi is present on site. Bicycles are available.

We aim for self-sufficiency without being extreme. We grow, harvest, and try to conserve any excess. This means bottling and drying produce.
The crops include asparagus, beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, kiwi,cherries,peaches,apple... more inside

Geraldine and Richard have owned and run a spiritual centre for health and healing on Mount Tamborine, Queensland Australia for nearly 20 years. We are in the process of building a similar centre in the Languedoc South of France where we need help with light building and gardening. Accommodation is indoors with showers and hot water. All meals are provided.
Where possible we use sustainable and `green` building techniques.
The use of random (uncut) stone and lime mortar has minimal
and even positive effects on the environment.
We ensure that the timber used is either sustainably grown or recycled.
Our aim is to create a space where groups can come to learn a range of creative, experiential and spiritual activities in a safe and peaceful environment.
We will welcome people of all nationalities and spiritual beliefs to share this facility.
Subjects which we hope to encourage will include, yoga, art, dance, astrology, meditation and healing.
We have now finished the building of... more inside

Hello, we are a belgian couple (Kim, 35 and Oliver, 46) who started a sustainable living project 7 years ago on a small old farm with a ciderorchard and a lovely little stream. We also have a daughter Lila (6 years old).

A big permaculture garden is giving us a lot of delicious fruit and veggies, two adorable donkeys are maintaining the grass and the chickens give us eggs.

By now we’ve accumulated a zoo consisting of a dog, two donkeys, three cats, four guinea pigs , lots of chickens and an uncertain amount of goldfish!

As we try to live in style and close to nature, you can expect dry toilets and sleeping in a lovely caravan. We all speak fluently dutch , french and english.

We can always use help in the garden or taking care of the animals.
Right now it's sewing time, but pretty soon we'll be needing lot's of help with harvesting the cherries and berries in june.

Apart from that we love to cook, play games, Kim is a herbalist and also homeschooling Lila and Olive... more inside
