This château was built and rebuilt between 1600 and 1850. The castle was owned by a famous chemist, physicist, botanic and alchemist.
4000sqm castle
1000sqm outbuildings (orangery, horse stables - 4 horses, office shed, gatehouse ...)
Situation: roofs in order, no moisture in basements or walls - only occasionally leaky pipes, so nothing that can not be easily put in order.
Formerly an asylum for lunatics was housed in the castle,
We want to provide a stylish ambience for weddings and overnight guests. We love abandoned châteaus, but they should be habitable.
We do not want a “should look like that" style. We maintain our own style, i.e. we need someone helping us to turn the castle into a magnificent swan - freestanding bathtubs in large rooms with views out French windows into a 26 ha park yet to be cared for.

What we need: Nice people from all over the world, that can do the tasks mentioned above with us - and please as soon as possible!!
What do we offer: everything... more inside

My old farmer house is a peaceful retreat with a true spirit of Alsace. Nestling in a small village: Birlenbach - near the German border.
I`m german and I live in my house and the garden with my two cats.
In summer I rent the house to guests and stay in my summer-rooms, so I have in this time not a separate room for helpers. But I am happy when helpers come in the time betwenn October 2019 to 15 May 2020.
I am a very creativ woman and I enjoy a good cooking for my summerguests, my friends and also for my helpers. I need them for not too hard works 4 hours daily: they help me in the garden and the house, and it`s good if they can do small renovations.

Location:
northern Alsace next to the Vosges Mountains.
11 km: German border
50 km: Karlsruhe
55 km: Strassbourg

next trainstations:
10 km: Wissembourg
8 km: Soultz sous Foréts

Bonjour,

This is a beautiful plot of land just over the Lot river.

An authentic stone barn from 1880 is transformed a a self sufficient house fully off the grid ... water is coming from own source and energy is produce by solar panels and all the land is getting transformed in a food forest ... from chestnut trees, hazelnuts, apple, pear, peach, cherry.

If you are willing to have one day your own off the grid place and want to experience this nice lifestyle in the wood maybe give us a visit ... We have a good experience of how to start from almost nothing and what is important to focus on ...

Guest can stay either in nicely healthy restored caravan or tents in the forest ... so you have you r own spot and intimacy ...

what you can do : help with everyday life as getting fresh water from the source, do some eco building, get fruits and make compote, clean some spot in the garden and seed the veg garden, be creative and make art, learn how to use new tools, from wood... more inside

We run a boutique guest house in this beautiful and rural part of South West France. We're looking for hard working, easy going people to assist and contribute to general DIY, gardening and in season (MAY-SEPT) help with breakfast service and cleaning of guest rooms.

Helpers need to have a sunny disposition as you maybe 'front of house' Previous hospitality experience is beneficial :)

The work in the summer would particularly suit two girls travelling together (shared room) or a couple. Outside of the season the work is more DIY and garden focused and we can host solo travellers as well as friends/couples.

We are able to offer stays of two weeks outside of the season and between May-Sept we need people to stay for minimum 8 weeks.

Generous meals/food to cook provided throughout your stay.

Our house is secluded so own transport would be a major bonus , however we are happy once or twice a week to offer lifts to the station and you would be welcome to hop in wi... more inside

Hi! We are a small family (more animals than humans!) living in Saint Christophe (postcode 81190), in the Tarn region (south of France, 1h above Toulouse) in a remote village, 10 km to nearest shop, bar, trainstation, school.
We are: Me, my daughter of14, sometimes my son (19), 4 cats, one great dane (dog), 2 chicken, 2 rabbits, 3 birds and a horse arriving in march…
We are belgian,( I m native dutch speaking), but kids have welsh father. We mainly speak French, unless we have visitors and often all turns english..
The house is an old house, mostly restored but already with the necessary confort of central heating, dishwasher etc..

I m a dynamique single mum, working part time, living in remote area and currently looking for more free time to take care of a big health issue.
My kids are active, nature loving, some say « wild », open minded and creative personalities.

The days I’m working or out of house for appointments (2-3days/week), I need someone to take care of the ... more inside

We are a French/Australian artist couple, living 6 months of the year in France, in our two-storey stone Provencal “mas”. Navacelles is a small village in the South of France, an hour's drive North of Nimes and an hour's west of Avignon and only 30 minutes from the famous medieval town of Uzes.
Our “mas” has been undergoing massive renovations after having been abandoned for 19 years. After three intensive 6 months summer periods, we have completed 90% of it, i.e: the kitchen and large living space downstairs and two large bedrooms upstairs-each with ensuite - and a separate small office/library space. We have begun landscaping work around the main building and envisage continuing that work as well as beginning to work on one of two small independent buildings, currently in a poor state, but which could become artists’residencies.
We are both visual artists with many years of renovation experience and are looking for help with both the landscaping work and the building renovatio... more inside

Bonjour,

Hi
We're now three families living here, on the land and in our huge barn, part of which has been transformed into living spaces. In order of arrival:
Roland and Lucy with Etienne (13, here part-time)
Eloise and Manu with Livio (3) and Soë (4months)
Elodie and Otmane with Lia (3months)
All French except Lucy who's originally British. We speak French and English and a bit of Spanish.

We have plenty of things to do and share.... ecological building and renovation – for both living and shared spaces; veg garden, orchard, chickens, ducks...

We welcome volunteers from April to October (we lack heated sleeping space for winter guests).

Our homes are already been partly built, with lots of help from friends and volunteers, but there is still plenty to do both within the barn (flooring with underfloor heating, earth plaster on a compressed earth and straw wall, wood finishings...) and on the land (creating a living space in a wooden cabin, building a sauna...). Then there'... more inside

I am now well settled in my new home and the only work I now need doing is tidying up around the house and garden , no really big jobs but I have bought some garden furniture that needs some tlc, I have two cats , and have recently adopted a rescue dog so any helpers would need to get on with the animals , accommodation is in a double room; and you would be expected to help with general household chores, while living as part of the family , I feel confident I could cook for vegetarians but probably not vegans , non smokers please
