Hi
********* Please note we are only able to offer short term stays of between 1-7 nights. Unless you have professional experience of decorating or tiling when longer may be considered************

We are James and Sharon a married couple who are also HelpX's and have used this scheme to travel parts of Oz. Now currently back in the UK we have decided to occasionally host other HelpX's. We will only be able to do this when we have the space as we also rent out our spare room.

We may not always be about ourselves so have decided to host on an accommodation only basis most of the time although if this is a problem we can consider including food for extra work.

The work itself will be general house cleaning, light DIY if there are any jobs need doing and we will hopefully have some painting done at some point.

James is originally from Scotland and Sharon is originally from Liverpool so we know many parts of the UK and can advise on further travelling. We have lived ... more inside

PROJECT NOW FINISHED, BUT GETTING INVOLVED IN OTHER ECO BUILDING PROJECTS IN THE FUTURE SO DO GET IN TOUCH IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP. So please do get in contact if you are interested.

An interesting opportunity to volunteer on a eco building project being carried out in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. The building is mostly going to be built using straw bales, with an environmental approach along every step. Looking for enthusiastic workers, who want to further there knowledge and practical building skills.
The building is on an organic farm, so there may be some other more varied jobs available (in the garden or on the farm), but the main focus of the work will be on the building.
In exchange for 5 hours work a day, for 5 days a week, delicious home cooked food and somewhere to sleep will be offered.

The farm is located near Stonehenge, Salisbury, the south coast and other beautiful attractions. So their are plenty of opportunities for things ... more inside

We are yurt builders located on the idyllic Welsh border between Shropshire and Wales. Our cottage is located high on a hillside of Clun Valley with stunning views, an iron age hillfort nearby and miles of walking/cycling routes.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals or couples who want to learn carpentry and green wood working skills to help us build our sustainable yurts and gers. We also sew all our own canvases and have a sewing workshop in a barn just down the road.

We are a young sociable couple who can offer you friendly company, your own room in the cottage or a yurt outside, good food and the opportunity to learn the craft of yurt making.

We also have a small organic vegetable garden we are managing and are also trying to sensitively renovate our lovely stone cottage if these skills are of interest. The more hands the better!

We have recently moved into a beautiful listed building in Tideswell in the centre of the Peak District National Park with our 2 children (3 and 5)

We would like 1 person (2 possible if a couple) to help with general DIY and decorating (painting / sanding etc) and gardening. People with plastering / carpentry experience particularly welcome! You will have your own bedroom and bathroom and will be expected to work for 4-5 hours a day 5 days a week.

Some meals will be provided if you eat with the family otherwise you can use our kitchen to fend for yourself. This is a family estate, dating from the eighteenth century. Although rural, we are only a mile from a small town with shops, a library and good bus connections. Edinburgh is 22 miles away. There is extensive woodland and a walled garden.Accomodation and full board is offered in exchange for 6 hours work per day Mon-Fri. Typical tasks would be: cutting grass, mending walls, building bonfires, strimming weeds, clearing rhodendron, digging ground, planting and tending vegetables and flowers, pruning fruit trees and shrubs. Commitment for at least a month preferred.
