I have a small plant and tree nursery set in very rural area between London and Cambridge.
We also grow fruit and vegetables
My home is just 3 miles away in a tiny tranquil hamlet.
You would stay in a purpose built chalet in the garden or in my home dependent upon weather conditions.
Meals are provided. I am not vegetarian and vegetarians generally cook their own meals with me providing the food.
You would work 5 hours per day for 5 days per week or 25 hours spread over 3 days.
I receive guests from all over the world who are registered with the Worldwide opportunities in organic farming.
Helpers may work at my home, my garden, or my nursery.
In addition, volunteers may participate in schemes outside of the above. For instance, we may do garden or grounds maintenance at homes or organisations.
I have volunteers from a very wide spectrum of society from persons resident in hostel for the homeless to serving police officers and a research scientist. Age ranges from te... more inside

We have been fully organic since 1988, running a mixed organic farm on 104 acres. For the last 20 years we have been operating an organic fruit and vegetable box scheme - currently delivering around 150 boxes every week to families in the Truro/Falmouth area. We produce high quality organic produce (for which we have won awards) to sell locally at affordable prices, and also supply local hotels and restaurants. There is a farm shop on site and we are currently developing the range of products we offer.

We grow over 60 varieties of vegetables on 30 acres of cultivated land and have 9 Polytunnels to extend our range and growing season. We keep a herd of 30 Aberdeen Angus Cattle who graze on 50 acres of grass and forage. There are also 5 flocks of laying chickens on site for our organic eggs (300 free-range hens). We raise our own hens and meat birds. There are also bees on the farm. We are currently setting up our own hives and learning how to care for them.

As well as the veget... more inside

This is a family run smallholding of 10 acres. As you can see from the website we have a variety of animals. All our animals are friendly and well handled. We are working to extend and redecorate our property.

Accommodation - We have one twin room available in the middle of our busy family home. We are also happy for you to bring a tent if you prefer. We expect you to eat all your meals with us.

The work - Yes if you are interested in outdoor work it will probably involve weeding unless you come in the winter months when it will involve lots of mud. But it is not all weeding. It will include:

* Feeding our animals and poultry.
* Maintaining fencing.
* Cleaning out animal housing.
* Preparing vegetable beds.
* Watering fruit and vegetables.

We are not as organized as some of the larger farms and need you to join in whatever project we are involved in. This includes seasonal jobs like shearing and lambing and one off projects like putting up new bu... more inside

We live in the most stunning area of west cornwall, near the most wild and beautiful beaches and the beautiful little fishing village of mousehole. We have 6 acres of land about 2miles inland. This consists of 2 woodland areas and 3 fields and lots of out buildings. Mike and i are artists, mike is a metal work sculptor and i am a textile artist. We have Lola Rose our gorgeous daughter who is 3 and mostly found in the chick house, and another due any minute!! A dog George who is so laid back and loves fuss and 12 mad chickens, with more about to be hatched.
Other artists work from the farm too.
We are consumed by art and really need help managing and loving the land, so any level of experience or inexperience would be appreciated. There are also opportunities to work on maintaining the outbuildings and some carpentary jobs. The accomodation would be a 4 berth caravan in one of the fields we prefer you to be independent with cooking and providing food in exchange for about 20 hou... more inside

This is a 16th century farmhouse, now a private residence with biggish garden, set in beautiful countryside.
In the early 70s when I first came here, it was a ruin. I've restored it as best I could to its original condition + added modern amenities.
Anyone who seriously wants to learn a bit about conservation building, old-style slating, the use of lime rather than cement, appropriate repairs to old buildings, is very welcome to stay for a while.
I can also advise on good walks round here. The Mawddach estuary, one of the most beautiful in Europe, is only 1/2 an hour away. Add 20 minutes to get to the beach.
It rains quite a lot here. But, when the sun shines, it's paradise.

A CARAVAN AMONG STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOR A BIT OF HELP!

WHO ARE WE?
Our names are Andrew and Gill and we have been growers since the 70s. At the moment Andrew grows strawberries, runner beans, calabrese, cauliflowers and cabbage and we try to sell them locally as much as possible. I teach English on and off. Our daughter Natalie is working on the farm for the summer until she starts teaching again.

WHAT 'WORK' DO YOU DO?
We have staff to do most of the farm work but we would ask you to help for up to 10 hours a week

in the garden doing things like cutting the grass, strimming the hedge etc

and things in the house like window washing and vacuuming

WHEN DO YOU 'WORK'?
It could be morning or afternoon depending on which suits you best and we might even let you have a few strawberries!

WHERE IS IT?
The farm is in a small village called Lindsey right in the middle of the Suffolk countryside. It has a pub and the shops are a few minutes away by car. Hadleigh is the n... more inside
