We live in a lovely town near stirling in Scotland called Bridge of Allan which won the best small town in Scotland 2010 and 2011.

Living here are myself, my husband Jon and our 2 young children Lucy and Edward.

Our garden needs remodelling to turn it into a family friendly and productive space. We would like to set up some raised beds to grow vegetables, replace gravel with grass, put in a summer house or play shed, cut down a large hedge and lay a path.

We can offer in return for 5 hours of work on 5 days per week all accommodation (in a large room, this can be shared if you would like another helper to join you, a shared bathroom and all home cooked meals. We also have wifi and bikes.

Bridge of allan is a short bus ride or walk from the centre of Stirling and an hour on the train from Edinburgh and Glasgow. We are also very close to loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Ochil Mountains.

Both my husband and I work as mountain guides and can take you into the mount... more inside

We have four children (14 to 7 years old), run a bed and breakfast and have a large vegetable garden. We also grow and sell asparagus, plant trees in the winter and spend several weeks of the year managing our small patches of woodland for our own fire wood supply. I also build wagons for our own use for posh camping (see our blog link) as well as bespoke orders.

Accommodation is in a small annexe which has its own loo and shower and wood burning stove.

The photographs below show the view from our house, our house, my workshop where I make wagons and the walled vegetable garden.

We have had ten Helpers over the last 24 months all of which have been great and am looking forward to helpers this autumn to help in the garden, chopping firewood as well as with building my wagons. Each day is never the same

If you are energetic have a positive and happy disposition
and are willing to help out where ever needed read on :)
We are a quiet household.
Our home is situated in Constable country, where the artist John Constable came from in the Dedham Vale it is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We have a selection of bikes to choose from so that you can go exploring. The walking here is good too. We are not on a bus route.
We need a hand in our big garden weeding both the flower borders and the vegetable area. We are working with our young horse - so horse skills would be very useful but not essential, sorry no riding available. Help is also needed in the general day to day running of our home. We have chickens and a dog. We keep bees and have four hives. Our house was built in 1380 and is a medieval hall which we have been renovating for the past 24 years, so if you have carpentry skills they could be put to good use too! . Helpers need to be self motivated and able to wo... more inside

a while ago i started building a small structure with help from whoever would give their time. It's progress has somewhat dwindled with me moving away from where it was being built so it is standing lonely, incomplete and needing some love.

I'm putting this listing up to gauge interest, as what i would like to do is gather a few friendly people together to really push the build over a few humps in the path to its completion.

ideally i would get some fast replies from some healthy energetic people who want to come and live in the forest and help create this space, four at least i would say. we would work a good four hour per day minimum on the house pushing forwards with an earth floor and cob rendering of tyre walls.

time not spent working could be filled with swimming in nearby lakes, cycling on old steel road bikes, walking in the countryside or whatever else.

accommodation would be basic, there is a geodesic dome that would sleep four comfortably but cosily, the stru... more inside

Hello HelpXers
We live on a small homestay where we grow our own veg/fruit and keep chickens and dairy goats. This year will be our first at rearing pigs and lambs for the freezer. We can offer a mixture of veggie/fruit stuff - picking; planting and most importantly weeding; and animal chores: fixing fences/sheds; feeding; cleaning out. As the British weather is notoriously unpredictable if it is too wet to be outside we have building jobs and cleaning to do. The chores available are dictated by season and weather.

We are a family of 3 (youngest a toddler) living in a rural village in Norfolk. We have also have 4 dogs and 2 cats. Our village is small and has 2 pubs (both serve food); 2 shops; a butcher and a post office.

Bus routes are irregular so own transport is recommended but we are happy for Helpers to work a full day in exchange for a full day off by mutual agreement. We have bikes to lend and are happy to take Helpers out and about if their time off coincid... more inside

Anyone fancy spending the summer in Devon? Got a small victorian terrace, all major work done but needs decorating throughout. The small garden needs a big tidy up.
Can offer large bedroom, comfy bed, hot showers, broadband close to main station and walking distance of lively city centre with plenty going on.
Must like dogs and cats I have one of each.
I would consider a couple.

Thank you to the many people who responded. Family matters have arisen so i will be away for a little while and I will repost when I return. Hope you are all successful.

Fancy staying free in caravan in the beautiful Lancashire countryside and are capable of genuinely hard graft?

If you are then we really need someone as soon as possible to help us please. We are currently on a major renovation of our 20 acre small farm, which is near Garstang in Lancashire, and are working towards setting up a camping and caravan site. Do you remember the Darling Buds of May or Cold Comfort Farm from off the television? We are a mix between the two!

The farm is run by John, his son Joe, daughter Hannah, and Mick. We work out a lot, and just cant keep up with the work that needs to be done. We work in a very laid back way (most of the time), live in static caravans and have an assortment of livestock, which can be somewhat chaotic, as we dont keep regular hours.

The farm is quite remote, being down a long rough stone track, and about 1.5 miles from the nearest village, and 3 miles from Garstang. Its a very peaceful location, quiet and with no light pollutio... more inside
