An old stone rural farmhouse in a tiny hamlet with fruit trees, a small lake and two large friendly dogs. Penny is South African married to Martin who is British. As we are about to open a new cafe in our nearest town of Sourdeval, we would be delighted to host someone here in a large en suite room in exchange for some light housework, lawn mowing and walking our dogs for an hour a day in the surrounding countryside. You must be able to drive and could have access to a bicycle and a car. You will be surrounded by French speakers so good for those who like peace, nature, dogs and wanting to speak or learn French.

I am looking for some help in the next few weeks to pack away the yurt camp after the end of the season. And to prep the veggie patch for next year. The site is sloping, so a reasonable level of fitness would be helpful.

This is a smallholding(ish) and yurt camp about 400 metres from the medieval market town of Lalinde, in the Dordogne. I live in two yurts next to a building that houses a kitchen and bathroom. To generate income, I have two 18-foot coppiced chestnut yurts and a 12-foot coppiced ash yurt that are open to paying guests from May to September.

The veggie patch is less than one acre of raised beds and hugelbeds, and the polytunnel is not too large. Animals are currently chickens, a goose and a cat. Where possible, materials for projects are sourced on the land, by hand. Which is physical, but satisfying work.

Other details of interest are:
o Free WiFi is available in and around the living space.
o Free calls to landlines in the UK and beyond.
o An average of ... more inside

We live in a beautiful French farmhouse in the Quercy Blanc countryside. The nearest big towns are Cahors and Villeneuve sur Lot. We need help in the garden - felling fruit trees, hedge pruning, strimming and grass cutting. There are one or two small building tasks needing done also, if anyone has the urge and the skills. The ability to use a chainsaw would be really helpful - we can provide protective clothing, mask and ear defenders, as well as all the necessary tools.

We can offer accommodation for a couple in our gite, (see the photos) which we offer in return for a couple of hours work a day for a couple. Weekends off, and it would give you more independence if you catered for yourselves, though of course all helpers are welcome to join up with us for drinks and chat. We can offer bikes and lifts in to town (nearest shops 7 km)and outings to local places of interest.

We are English, but have lived here for 20 years and both speak fluent French. Christopher speaks fl... more inside

I am an English 56 yr old Male living here in Quettreville-sur-Sienne just outside Coutances with my 2 small dogs and 2 chickens, I would like an English speaking person or French person that can speak at least a little English, maybe I can teach you English and you teach me French. There are 6 acres of land by the river Sienne with a big pond. I grow a lot of vegetables and am currently building raised vegetable beds. There is a small woodland which over the years has overgrown and I am trying to clear a lot of unwanted brambles and fallen dead trees so the woodland can be opened up and expanded. There is always things to do like weeding, watering plants, grass cutting, strimming, helping to put fencing up, all sorts of odd jobs which crop up, more in spring and summer than winter. I require 4 - 5 hours work a day Mon - Sat, Sunday off in return for stopping in a static caravan, 3 meals a day supplied, along with beverages. There is Wi-Fi here so you have free internet access. 10 m... more inside
