English/Français

Hi everyone,

We are a young couple with a wonderfull little girl and we’ve just moved in south-east Aveyron, in Viala-du-Tarn, on a land of 4ha.
Our project is to live in food and energy autonomy within 2 or 3 years, but also to create a farming activity, growing fruits and vegetables.
(We are using many technics from agro-ecology, permaculture and alternative farming philosophy).

Our goal is also to develop a place of transit, exchange and encounters, as we were able to visit many during our world tour recently finished. A trip which was extremely rich in encounters and discoveries.

In few months, we have already accomplished a lot, especially thanks to our family and our friends ; but the project is still nascent and there are many things to do :
restore the house, creation of garden beds, retaining walls, paths, picking up rain water and a source… so, we are not bored !
We also have few hives, and a dozen chickens sharing ans spacing up our... more inside

Hello!

We need help
- to take care of 6 horses (Landes ponies),
- to make wood and to clear the undergrowth ,
- to help us put up fences (preferably advancing towards winter when the ground will be more loose).

On a small farm that we renovate and develop, we carry out an agricultural activity (breeding horses and production of our fodder) in an organic way as a secondary activity (we have our professions in the tertiary: computer science and speech therapy).

We have two donkeys and begin our horse breeding, a henhouse, a vegetable garden which we find it hard to find time to take care of and develop. Welcome!

We are interested in the learning and development of English and Spanish in particular, in conversation. But we like to discover all languages ??and cultures. We have a very open mind.

We offer a welcome with accommodation in mobile home (old model but accommodation for small or medium stays, with internet connection, NB: the bathroom and the WC are unusable ... more inside

Our names are Mel and Tom - we bought our property in August 2007 and now live as self-sufficiently as possible using all our own produce and preserving many of our crops to use over winter. We’re a family of four - our two boys are aged 14 and 18 and speak fluent French having been here for most of their school lives. Mel is also an artist and there is a studio on site.

We grow completely organic vegetables in our large vegetable garden and polytunnel and have fig trees, a damson plum and a pear tree among others - we’re looking forward to a big crop over the summer months. We grow organic, medicinal herbs which, if you’re interested in this, we can teach you about too. There are also blackberries and elderberries to harvest that grow wild on the property - lovely for jam and jellies!

There is ongoing work in the vegetable garden with weeding, watering and harvesting. At the height of the late summer there will be a lot of processing of tomatoes and other fruit and vegetables... more inside

Henriette (58) I live at what was formerly a wine and silk farm; buildings dating back to the early 1800s, set in a beautiful landscape of rolling hills, woodland and farmland.

This is a space meant for art, dancing, music and enjoyment. Having undergone major renovation over the past decade, we wish to open our doors for those who would want to use this space and share with us their creativity and interests.

We are happy to receive help from you, as there are still many projects to work on and develop, either in the garden, or on renovation and building. All we ask is that you are eager to help, and of course it's even better if you have any specific skills pertaining to renovating, building, carpentry, knowledge of plants and growing food, cooking, etc. Musicians, theatre folk, artists and the like are also very much welcome.

We have rooms and a dormitory available, with attached kitchen and living area which you can make use of. Of course if we have guests and events r... more inside

Hi we're a Franco-British couple, Lucy and Roland, with a part-time 10 year old son, Etienne, in a large, large barn - starting to build a house within it. We're currently looking for folk to help from April, as we lack heated space for the winter. 2017 is the "year of the house":

First jobs this spring has included building the missing wall and insulating the stone walls of the barn with cellulose, next step is isolating the south wall with "straw-and-earth" and then plumbing, electricity, staircase, inside walls... And that's just the beginning...

Lucy works part-time at the Ressourcerie de Foix where we give a second life to objects that would otherwise be thrown away. You'd be welcome to occasionally join the team of volunteers there if that appealed.

Lots to keep us busy. Come and join us with the project and the rest of life: garden chickens, conserves, fruit trees, helping friends on their projects...

We've WWOOFing experience (we met when Lucy was hitching t... more inside
