A 200 year old cotswold stone house located in a small village near Stroud. It has a good size garden on a slope with woodland above and is located in a conservation area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty backing on to the Toadsmoor valley. The house is 25 mins walk from Stroud town centre and has recently undergone major refurbishment which is still ongoing. There are a few shops in the village as well as a pub nearby. The house is surrounded with the hills and countryside on your doorstep...great for forest walks and there are lovely lakes to swim in nearby.. English, Spanish and French is spoken. Helpers stay can stay in a double room or camp in the garden if they like. We aim to work an average of 5 hours per day, 4 days p/week. I have a toddler daughter who lives with me half the week and she's very easy going and sweet. The work is varied but currently there are raised beds to make for growing vegetables, a chicken run to make, chickens to feed and care for, ... more inside

Hi!

We are looking for helpers in August and September to help with harvesting some blueberries and making some juice on our small farm in the Dartmoor National Park blueberry

We are also crrating a small forest garden with ducks, bees, strawberries, raspberries, black currants and red currants, apple trees, plumb trees, damson trees and pear trees.

The apples we make into juice in Autumn.

The farm is also a good place to practice your English.

Everyone welcome!

We have nearly finished building a timber workshop and will soon have a good woodworking shop. Our next focus will be the Showman's Wagon. We are moving our home towards being off-grid: digging the well and getting a pump working, increasing solar hot water capacity and installing photo-voltaic panels.
We have a few chickens plus Eva dog and Eric the cat. We have a large garden with a vegetable plot. We enjoy life: working hard, meeting new people and cycling around the South West, especially if it involves a good Somerset pub... We need help with carpentry and building projects, gardening, dog-walking. We can consider long term stays after a trial period.

We are happy to help people learn English and suggest ways to discover our area. We can lend bikes for helpers to get around and explore the countryside. Our village is small and quiet and the area is very beautiful. Somerset is a county with many contrasts: hills, moors, coast and towns.

I have recently returned home to the family farm and need your help:) Come and have a wonderful summer on our farm.
We have 50 acres of grassland with 2 jersey house cows. A small herd of shorthorn beef cows and wiltshire horn sheep. We have a couple of glouceser old spot pigs, some chickens and a veg patch. The farm is highly diversified with craft/artists workshops, a campsite, a cafe, and a river swimming club. We have a small school on site and we do lots of farm education with school trips and also a regular farm school.
There is also 150 acres of conventional arable land that I am managing under countryside stewardship with an aim to encourage wild pollinators, bats and birds.
Volunteers would be expected to work 25 hours a week and can stay for 3 weeks or longer. Jobs can vary and can include gardening, working in the tearoom and on the coffee van, collecting subs at the river swimming club, looking after the campsite, and working with school groups. Depending on your expe... more inside

I am always looking for someone (or two) with basic landscaping skills, and basic carpentry skills. I enjoy having couples to stay, as they are a bit more independent. This summer I am looking for a couple (or singleton) to help me in the garden as I am having an outdoor dining room constructed and there will be some tidying up to do. There will also be a little interior decorating to do. I would supervise and work alongside you.

I had a very positive experience five years ago with my first HelpXer who in 10 weeks transformed
my garden from a builder's site into a lovely lawned gadren.Since then I have had a regular stream of marvellous young people.

I am a good cook. You will have a room and bathroom to yourself in my comfortable house. I am quite social and will include you in the social network in the area.

My house is a few miles from the coast, nature reserve etc and these are a short bike ride away. Yoxford is a charming village with 2 pubs, 2 good restaurants, and ... more inside

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE PHOTOS ARE UPSIDE DOWN AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THIS. Even tried rotating the photos before uploading but always end up upside down whichever way they are uploaded??? Anyway hope you can mange by turning screen around. Photo of the farm in Wales is fine for some reason. It is the third photo and is not actually where you will be staying but it is possible to visit sometimes. The other photos are of the allotment and double room in Liverpool where you will be staying.

Double room available in cute three bedroom house. We have a large allotment near to the house where we grow organic vegetables. We also have a beautiful and historic mountain farm in the Snowdonia National Park which we visit occassionally now, it is a great place for a retreat to get away from everything and soak up the fresh air. We grow organic fruit for our own consumption but do not currently have any animals. We also have 23 acres of woodland to manage. It is not viable to... more inside

A large one bedroom flat available from 9 September for 10 days. It has a kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower, living room and study and is located in the south of England (one mile from the sea). Enjoy the flat and location in return for gardening, cooking, decorating (e.g. painting) and cleaning etc - whatever you enjoy/are proficient in. As we both work, much of the time you will need to work autonomously. If you like dogs, even better as we have a three year old black Labrador. The flat has its own front door and the bedroom has a double bed so would be suitable for one person or a couple. We eat healthy food, all diets catered for. There is much to see in the area, the Historic dockyards in Portsmouth are a short trip away, as is the new forest with its wild ponies. Winchester city, the old capital of England, is accessible via train and the Isle of Wight is directly opposite our bay and makes an excellent day trip. Get in touch for more details if you're interested and we c... more inside

Our organic smallholding is in the East of England, 13 miles South West of the historic city of Norwich and near the pretty market town of Wymondham. Ideal for a couple or an independent single person who would like to develop their practical skills and who have an interest in country living, growing food, keeping bees, chickens etc.
We provide good accommodation in a private part of the house or an independent cottage as available
This is a quiet rural smallholding, from here I run my beekeeping business. There are vegetable gardens, polytunnels, flower beds, a mixed orchard, chickens, and a woodland shelter belt. Beekeeping work with hives here and on local farms if you are interested.
We also work on maintenance and new projects in the garden and grounds and you will be expected to help in the house as needed. We work five days a week but can be flexible about days off, roughly five and a half hours a day.

Our 17th century farmhouse is home to Piers, Sue, three young people aged 18-22 (two are away at university), two house cats and a small, very friendly dog. Our stay length is two, occasionally three, weeks. We are now looking for help in October and November.

We offer helpxers comfortable accommodation in a prime tourist area, excellent food and a genuine welcome, in return for a fair level of physical work. It's a great opportunity for people who are keen to stay in a family environment and learn stuff about country living. We usually take helpxers one at a time; sometimes we have two people here.

Our home is within sight of the sea in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are shingle beaches to walk to and steep-sided sandy coves easily reachable by bike (although the roads are hilly!). South Devon is an enormously popular tourist destination from Easter to October, when it earns its reputation as the sunniest part of England.

We moved here seven years ago and h... more inside
