We have arranged for 2 guests in August and will therefore not be needing anyone else until next summer. This is a small nature reserve consisting of a small wood of an acre or so, a wildflower meadow of about half an acre and a wildlife garden. We are situated amongst farmland and near to the beautiful Tas Valley. We would like our guests to help scythe and rake the meadow - this might take around 4 hours a day over about a week, depending on the weather. The rest of the time would be your own. There would be lots of rest. We would give lifts to Norwich to explore this ancient city, to Cambridge, and to the beautiful North Norfolk coast. We would also take you for a day out in London. I am a retired teacher and could help with language skills. There would be lots of conversation. You would enjoy home cooking and have a bedroom of your own. We are a retired couple and we would share the work and work alongside you. We could teach you how to scythe and believe you would find it a... more inside

Attractive rustic old Norfolk Barns that I have been developing, on a shoe string, since 1991. In 1997 I built an eco-cabin and extended it in 2004 with a 50square metre straw-bale,on rubber tyres buildingy. We have a reed-bed purification system, and have started harvesting water. There is a large vegetable garden which I have developed along Permaculture principles with composting on site cf. Thanks to a former volunteer we now have a wonderful polytunnel. I am a member of the Permaculture association which has always been a source of inspiration.Sadly I am without large animals For many years I ran animal assisted activities, but recently have
given the ponies and pigs to a wonderful project working with city school children in a residential setting, giving them an experience of the outdoors. cf Ringsfield Hall Eco-centre near Beccles. I am now working with two Norwich Charities welcoming people in recover from addictions, and this June we received our own Charity Number:1178... more inside

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with gardening work on an estate where we try to live in a sustainable way. The work is varied and involves teamwork. It also offers an opportunity to learn about permaculture and growing fruit, flowers and vegetables in a kitchen garden, a herb garden and an orchard. We also need help in keeping livestock (chickens, sheep and goats), and with maintaining a fly fishing river. Other jobs include logging, mowing and all other areas of gardening, plus buildings maintenance and decorating at times if that suits you.

If you want to learn or improve your English this will be a good opportunity as you will be working with an English-speaking team.

We provide all your food (including our own organic produce) and accommodation sharing a house with other volunteers, but you will need to cook for yourselves. We live on the edge of a busy little market town, so we have the best of town and country to enjoy and you can borrow a car or... more inside

Hi - I own and run a schools hatching programme using eggs from my champion rare breed hens. The youngsters come back to my 6 acre smallholding with fabulous views on the northern edge of Sheffield and the Peak District. I run this with my three children aged 19, 17 and 10. We also have rare breed sheep and goats, three horses, three dogs, two cats and two turkeys - so lots of interesting animals! You will need to love animals here!

I would like someone who is used to animals and wishes to learn more about their husbandry. I have work daily looking after the livestock, building fences, gardening, and some decorating and restoration in our period 5 bedroom house that looks over the land.

We have buses (not many!) that go past the house so access to Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Barnsley are all possible. The closest train station is Penistone less than ten mins in the car away.

The room is a big double bedroom with a lovely view over the valley. There would be... more inside

Hi Helpxers,

Below is an explanation of what I am looking for:

Help to run a VERY small guest-house: c.3 hours work per day per Helpxer (c.20 hours per week).

The above includes:

Checking guests in and out: Cleaning and preparing bedrooms. Keeping the kitchen, bathrooms and television lounge clean and tidy. Gardening and general maintenance in both the guest-house and at my nearby properties.

I also occasionally need help with weeding/cleaning at my rather derelict properties in north Wales, c.85 miles from Manchester.

At the moment I advertise rooms in Stretford, Manchester, on Airbnb and Sparerooms, and I need some help caring for the house and for my guests.

My home is c.2.5 miles from Manchester City Centre. We are close to 3 Metrolink stations and regular buses run to the city centre: A Day Ticket, offering unlimited travel around Greater Manchester on Stagecoach buses, costs 4.

Please do not send me a Helpx request more than 3 to 4 week... more inside

I need some help in clearing my house. I will have just come back from abroad and will be moving. I will need a couple of pairs of hands for three hours a day from about 9TH JULY. Strong physically, to move boxes and furniture. I recently had a mild stroke so am able to direct operations but not do it!
Computer work (Apple) would also be invaluable to help me set up. And also DIY ability, should it crop up: I have all the necessary DIY tools for the handyman help. But the clearing of the rooms is tantamount.

Unfortunately I cannot provide food or cook, so that is something you would have to do, due to my stroke. But if that's difficult for you - like you are on a really tight budget - perhaps we can work around that. For those staying longer than a week it is a 6-day week. We usually work in the morning (say 9.30 -12.30) and then you are free till the next day.

The house is a comfortable Victorian middle-of-terrace, a minute's walk from East Finchley tube, 20 mins to the... more inside

This is a low impact rural enterprise located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Centre promotes art and culture, eco-tourism, conservation and permaculture. The Centre is a few minutes walk from some of the most spectacular sandy beaches and coastal walks in England.

Temporary seasonal accommodation is available to visiting tourists in the form of yurts. The yurt camping field consists of a spacious field divided into 4 main circular spaces so that visitors can feel enclosed within their own private glade. Wildflowers provide valuable wildlife habitat, fabulous for observing bees and butterflies.

The project aims to conserve, protect, and enhance wildlife habitats and geological and archaeological features. Another aim is to increase the bio-diversity and productivity on the land and create a haven for both wildlife and visitors.

Volunteers can expect to get involved in a variety of jobs and activities from helping to manage the yurt camp, f... more inside
