Keen outdoor helpers needed.

We live in a lovely rural location five miles from the town of Oban, on the West coast of Scotland. We have a naturalistic garden and a separate vegetable patch as well as an extensive wildflower meadow and native woodland. We try to manage our land to encourage the greatest biodiversity. We need help from the end of April onwards with general garden work, including feeding and mulching the plants, planting out seedlings as well as cutting and splitting firewood, and some house maintenance.

We are looking for 1 or 2 cheerful, adaptable, nonsmoking omnivores who will help us for an average of 25 hrs or so per week (jobs are very weather dependent). We prefer people to come for one to two weeks. You would live as part of our family with accommodation and all meals provided in our modern home, with free wifi. Oban is known as the Gateway to the Isles and is a great centre for exploring the West Highlands.

We are now retired but spent our w... more inside

One vacancy during May. Fully booked during June, July and August... Only open to people who have some experience with horses.
The reviews below are from when I lived at Withy Cottage. Since July 2018, I've been at Manor Farm. Different environment, same me!

I am a semi retired teacher with a love of the countryside, my animals, wildlife, cycling, art, music and dancing. I have a small grassland holding for my 4 horses. I live in a very tiny cottage, deep in the Lincolnshire countryside; ten minutes' drive from Horncastle and Spilsby, small market towns, and 30 miles from Lincoln, a beautiful historic city. There are buses to these towns, but it's a very long walk to the bus stop. ((We really are very rural). Our nearest train station is in Boston, which can be reached via either Grantham, Lincoln or Peterborough from most towns with nearby airports.
Help needed with grassland management, horse care and gardening, domestic and DIY tasks in exchange for accommodation and mea... more inside

*** Help needed for April and May - mainly gardening but possibly some home decoration and carpentry ***

We are a English/Australian couple who own a house with very small small-holding just outside Canterbury. We have 3 children, Josie (10), Hazel (8) and Greta (2). We have a very large garden that we are slowly turning into a small-holding. We have a vegetable garden, orchard, chickens and 2 cats.
We would love help with gardening, house decoration (painting, etc), landscaping, weeding and carpentry.
We can offer a bedroom in our lovely home, sharing the family bathroom. We love travelling and really enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Our house has wifi and we can offer light breakfasts and lunches (DIY) as well as dinners. We are just outside of the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury which is accessible by bus or car. Canterbury is also just 1 hour by train from London.

We are a family run smallholding where we keep 450 chickens which produce great free range eggs. During this spring and summer, we are looking for help with mainly outside work around the smallholding such as feeding the chickens and collecting and packing eggs, grass cutting, gardening, carpentry and chicken hut maintenance. From time to time we need help in our shop were we sell our own products and others that are locally produced. There's always a lot going on here and we are developing our business all of the time.
There is always a lot of cooking to be done for ourselves and helpers so if you like doing this, that is great.

Accommodation is in a separate building which can sleep a maximum of 4 people - this has its own shower and toilet. We are a very friendly household and will treat you as one of the family. We try to make our helpers stay as pleasant as we can and try our best to provide the food you would like as we are very keen on tasty healthy food.

Help in July and August with cherries appreciated. We would like a few people from 23rd July for a few weeks so we can do things together. The accommodation would be camping. Lots of work in the trees - pruning, thinning, chopping. Also making mushroom logs and foraging and using what we find. I have also been growing trees from seeds I collected and have lots of vegetables growing. My daughter is establishing a forest garden but we are still in the learning process.
Lots to do in the vegetable garden, weeding and digging etc. Any budding brickies welcome to build a wall!
You need to work 25 hours a week Tuesday-Friday (and helping at mealtimes) and have Saturday - Monday free. and in return you will get your food, a tent and wifi.

We are 5 minutes from the Insch train station, 35 minutes from Aberdeen, and you can walk or bicycle to the village where there are shops and a friendly pub.

I tend to prepare food from scratch and like the idea of a simple sustainable life ... more inside

Our farm is a small, busy 23 acre organic family farm. We grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers that we sell directly at two local farmers markets, through our box scheme and to local pubs, shops and restaurants.

The farm is run by myself Nathan and my wife Alicia, along with the help of my mother Muriel who lives with us. We have two daughters, 4 cows and a small menagerie of cats, chickens and a dog, who along with the children are more or less helpful at any given time!

Where we farm is stunningly beautiful but quite remote. The farm is situated in the small hamlet of Llwyndafydd, with views of farmland across the coombe. Cymtydu beach is just over a mile’s walk down a beautiful country lane, with easy access to Cardigan Bay’s protected heritage coastline and coastal path. Lonely Planet has named Coastal Wales the 'Best Region on Earth' to visit in 2012.
We have a very active Facebook page, where we post loads of photo's and stories of our farming life here on the 'w... more inside

I'm a sporty person and enjoy nature/wildlife.
My place is not nice so I'm offering it free to anyone who can help me get it nice. You don't really have to be a tradesperson we can learn on YouTube lol. Ideally you could help with buying food but I will if need be. Locally it's in the Valleys so there is nature around. Really nice national park Brecon beacons not far which I love all this stuff. If it is sunny we don't have to work we go out there's no deadline with this. River Taff is behind house and the Taff biking trail so we can do that i have a spare bike, a kayak, spare wetsuit and bodyboard for beach.

There is like I believe plastering, I need to take the floor up in kitchen, just cleaning n bitty bits like filling holes n things. I'm gonna try n get all the tools needed....
