We are an elderly couple faced with a wild and untidy garden.Sadly Ranald has Alzheimers and recently had a stroke, and so I spend a lot of time helping him. He can no longer take the dog out alone, but loves a walk in the woods. Help needed to be a companion for Ranald, redesign garden for easier maintenance, remove old tree roots, chip wood for paths, plant trees, cut and chop firewood. Saw and axe skills useful. It is important that that our helper involves Ranald in the tasks; he spends nearly all day outside, which means he eats and sleeps well. He has poor speech, cognition and motor skills and his manners have slipped a bit!
There are indoor jobs in house, shed and garage if weather is too wet, and Ranald appreciates company.
Helper to live as family. We are omnivorous, non smoking, and enjoy a glass of wine or beer. We are widely travelled and enjoy meeting new people. Our house is in quiet rural woodland, about 1km from bus route into Inverness. Helper is offered a twin be... more inside

Looking for 1 or 2 volunteers to assist in replacing rotted structural timbers in a WW2 Motor Torpedo Boat with new frames cast from thin shell fibre reinforced concrete. The work can be messy, mostly below deck level and involves lifting. Volunteers requested starting June 2020.

Shoreham by Sea is on the south coast 6 miles west of Brighton. The houseboat moorings are on tidal mudflats and accessible from the towpath. The sea is less than 200 yards and is popular with kite and windsurfers.

The work is all involved with the maintenance and renovation of historic boats which are mostly used as houseboat accommodation. I use a minimum of new materials, aiming to create environment friendly, aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically functional living spaces. I currently am responsible for 7 boats over 30 foot and struggling with the work load. The joy of working with houseboats, (especially ours where we own our mooring plots) is that they are not subject to planning permission o... more inside

Our farm is a beautiful place, where animals, birds, plants and humans all live in a natural, healthy and happy way. Our chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl and a turkey roam free all over the farm. We have milking goats. We have a Jersey cow with a calf and pigs. We are learning beekeeping. We grow organic vegetables and fruit and we have planted hundreds of trees. Our farm is developing in a happy organic and permaculture way. It forms the basis of our family business of writing and publishing books about using food as medicine. As a family we are firmly committed to producing natural organic food in a sustainable way. Our farm is an integral part of our business and an invaluable part of our research; the food we produce demonstrates the value of natural diet in health of humans, animals and the land. We will be happy to welcome young people who want to work with land and animals, who love our Planet and want to restore it back to health, one farm at a time.

This is a small holding nestled on the edge of the Cambrian mountains in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Two miles from Tregaron, which has most basic amenities; food shops, pubs, takeaways, cafes, doctors surgery, pharmacy and various local art and craft shops. Public transport available. We're about a 45 minute drive to the coast. Good trails for mountain biking and also, surfing not too far away. Fabulous walks from the property with a fantastic mixture of wildlife around us.
We have been restoring the property over last 5 years and rejuvenating the vegetable gardens and orchard and clearing the land which had become overgrown and neglected.
Our aim is to offer a small scale retreat, which is an ongoing project.

We are looking for one or two people to help us with physical work, ideally someone who is fit and able and ideally, has skills with roofing/carpentry (cow shed needs re roofing) and able to help with general maintenance of the property.

Hello!
Sorry we are not taking volunteers at present ..... Hopefully not long before we can welcome new volunteers. My home is a rural cottage on the northern edge of the beautiful Black Mountains in Herefordshire. I am in my 70's (I like to think I have a more youthful outlook!) and would welcome help with complete restoration of permaculture organic vegetable garden and polytunnel using material already on site, eg wood and stone, mowing, wood cutting, garden maintenance, etc. If the weather is bad, then various indoor jobs to include decorating. You must have some practical experience of these jobs, be fit and strong and have some degree of independence.
I invite helpers to come and stay, and join me to finish a project. I have a nice room in my house for helpers or you could camp, homemade food, company, occasional singing outings and socialising, in a beautiful, peaceful, unspoilt countryside setting with superb walks, 8 miles east of the small market town of Hay on... more inside

**************Looking for couples July - September, couples or individuals through the winter months when things are quieter *************

I have a small petting farm and farm shop in the Highlands of Scotland - John O'Groats a bucket list destination for many. I bought the farm in Sept 2016 as a running business, there is lots to do to try to get it where i would like to be long term. Running the farm by myself with only so many hours in a day means any help is really appreciated!

The work is varied, there is the morning routine with the animals, feeding and mucking out the pens, walking my lovely friendly dalmatian dog, cutting the grass, weeding helping water and tend to the fruit and vegetables growing on the farm. I have a 2 bedroom B&B so helping get rooms turned around and ready for guests, chopping carrots for visitors to feed to the animals and general farm maintenance.

A two berth caravan is on site for volunteers, it is dry, warm and cosy with a kitchen and ba... more inside
