This is a smallholding with highland cows, shetland sheep, poultry, a vegetable garden, some new woodland, a small orchard, a sawmill and we are renovating old farm buildings to set up some self-catering accommodation. We are also developing some workshop spaces for woodwork and crafts. There is loads of work to do in any of the above areas. We produce lamb and beef and eat our own food as far as we can. We can provide vegetarian food if preferred and we appreciate helpers doing some cooking. Accommodation is provided in the farmhouse. There are two dogs also living in the house. We are two miles from the village of Saline which has one shop, eight miles from Dunfermline and there are public transport services to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

We are happy to host volunteers at short notice for just 2 or 3 nights - a little help in the garden in exchange for a bed (shared dorm or private room, depending what's available at the time) & breakfast. Please only get in touch near the time you are passing through as we can only host you if there is accommodation available in the hostel. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide meals other than breakfast.

Help in the garden will likely be weeding or digging, or something more creative if you are artistically inclined. Weather dependent! All help greatly appreciated.

We are an independent, not-for-profit hostel in the historic town of Inveraray. Inveraray is in the southern highlands of Scotland, on the shore of Loch Fyne - Scotland's longest sea loch - close to the Arrochar Alps and Loch Lomond. It's home to several worthwhile attractions, including a castle, and there are several local woodland walks where you've a good chance of spotting Scottish wildlife. Availability from June. We live on a small-holding of 38 acres in Scotland just on the edge of a small town in Perthshire. We have one self-catering holiday cottage and run the occasional retreat (scrapbooking or therapy). We have two cats and two rescue ponies. We are looking for help to tidy up the garden, do general maintenance/painting, strimming and some help with the animals. I prefer volunteers over the age of 25 due to the nature of the work and a good command of English is helpful.

Update:
Hello I am looking now for someone, or two friends, with experience with sheep and lambing. We have a small flock of eleven ewes, one gimma and Rupert; usually family members can help with the lambing this year only my mother will be there. It is much better to have a team so more sheep and lambs survive with the better care. You will also help with the cooking and general care of house and other pets. It is a very enjoyable job, you will learn as you go but I would like someone with some experience. Lambing starts on 1st April, I would like if possible to meet you this weekend as I am going away on Wednesday 21st. You would have a room in my flat in Edinburgh until the end of April, so if all the lambing was done you could enjoy some free time in the city. The sheep are at my family's house in the Scottish Borders. It is a very beautiful place two hours on the bus south of Edinburgh. Looking forward to hearing from you .

I am a teacher of English as a foreign language t... more inside
