Before you start reading this, I must tell you that I prefer my helpers to come in pairs. So if there are two of you, read on: We keep sheep, cows, pigs, hens and horses. We also grow a certain amount of cereal crops. The work is quite seasonal starting in Spring with lambing, then following the great miracle of birth through till autumn harvest, and the gathering in of grain and straw. The winter months are mostly clearing up from the previous summer, or preparing for the next one. Also tending to all our livestock. We have a polytunnel and small vegetable garden providing food for the house. When there are urgent jobs to be done we work whatever the weather and regardless of the day of the week. Accommodation is a bedroom in the house, and in spite of all I've said above, we do take time off for fun.

We are now closed for the 2018 winter and looking to re-open in April/May 2019. However if you need a week in the winter it is still worth asking -we may be able to help. It would be all winter jobs (logging, pruning, tidying etc) then and may get rained off but if that's OK then do contact us.

Hi from a relaxed, friendly nearly-retired couple who love to 'host' and welcome our volunteers as if they were family. We are a 1 hectare smallholding with sheep, poultry, pigs (in summer), an out of control vegetable garden and plenty of 'wild' bits, in NW Roscommon. You are welcome to try some (fully supervised) livestock tasks at the appropriate times of year (moving stock, dealing with families of baby chicks, sheep shearing and foot trimming etc). We try to give guests a mix of jobs and nothing too awful! You will get mowing and tidying but also, if we can, jobs for which you have stated a preference. Recent volunteers asked for 'wood-work' - we had plenty.

Our house is 150 year... more inside

We are a†family of four based†in a small village in the middle of Northern Ireland. We have two daughters and we also share our home with two†dogs and a cat. My husband works in the music industry and I work as a counsellor and am currently a PhD student. We are home†educating†and we are using a child-centred†approach which means we guide, support and encourage our children to follow their passions, to have fun and to learn in their own unique way. We†enjoy creativity, music, art, nature and food.

We would love to invite helpers to support us as a family and so our children†can†meet people from as many different backgrounds as possible.†The main reason for inviting helpers into our home is we would love some help with the running of our home and the educating of our children. I'm a flute teacher and sculptor with a wide interest in the arts and also in nature, wildlife, Buddhism and psychology, yoga and meditation. I can offer a stay in a large, comfortable house in a beautiful part of West Cork not far from the sea. Accommodation and food in return for some help gardening and inside work, e.g. painting and decorating. Preference given to artistic and/or musical people (I have a good concert grand piano and room to paint/sculpt). Non smokers are preferred. Please contact me for further details and a link to photos of my place and the area, which is between Schull, Durrus and Ballydehob. The nearest towns are Bantry and Skibbereen and both are served by a regular bus from Cork. I have 2 mountain bikes that helpers are welcome to use too. You can see what it's like here if you go to my website page.
