Hello everyone!
Our family is part of a group of 17 people from all over the world that got themselves together to join forces and energy and make the difference that we want to see around!
2011 was the start of our big adventure, together we bought 40ha of land in the Beira Alta area of Portugal.
It is a very interesting project that energies flow from the individual towards the collective!!
We are still setting the physical, emotional and spiritual bases of our common spaces. ...
We are Dreamers, open-minded people and life followers, having like everyone and everywhere big challenges :) but for sure doing our best!!

We are a family of two adults, 2 teenagers (18) and a kid (6) , so the dynamics should respect the needs of the children to eat, play and rest!
We have been in the process of building our nest!! and it has been a really nice experience!! we build our house and all the facilities around it!! The valley is 3km away from the next very smalllll village, so Ha... more inside

Hej hej,

I live with nature in a beautiful valley in the Alentejo region of the quiet interior of Portugal.

I've been here for 10 years and things are getting some places now! ;)

In the early stages of making a straw bale round structure and could really do with a hand or two

Some knowledge and or love towards a garden which I've started would also be great...

Meditation, vegetarian, calmness, some mornings or days in silence,

Namaste,
Dominic

..............................

Change is NOW and I would like to live differently.. I have been living on this amazing piece of land for around a decade, it was a ruin, it's not finished but I have brought a lot of it back together.

I have an idea that I would like to open the place to others, some helpers but more in the direction or combination of a community/anastasia/co-operative, we would have our own spaces to be but with a central space to come together.. The land is quite big (10 hectare) and has many differ... more inside

WHO WE ARE
We are a family of 3, Erica (Mum), Panama (daughter) and Gary (daughter's partner). Early in 2016 we bought 2 acres of land that sits atop a hill looking out at the Serra do Acor. The view is stunning landscape with hardly a building or a light to be seen. The land faces south and is blessed with olive trees. We had a small mixed woodland and many fruit trees but these were burnt in the forest fire of October 2017, so we had to fell the woodland but we have 100 new trees coming in September 2019 to re-plant the woodland - walnut, pine nut, oak, cork, medronho, chestnut are we are planting a new orchard of fruit trees, peach, apple, fig, nespera, medronho, yellow plum, purple plum, apricot, chestnut, hazel, tangerine, orange, lemon, persimmon, pear. We also have a good sized veg plot. We grow everything organically and are aiming to grow the bulk of our food. We are vegetarian/vegan so veggies are the mainstay of our diet. We have 2 wells for irrigation and get our drink... more inside

Help needed shepherding goats, cheese making and gardening.

Nestled in a shallow valley over one thousand meters up on the top of the Serra De Estrella mountains is our isolated farm. We keep a number of different animals, mainly goats which need walking on a daily basis. There are lots of tasks we need help with to bring this farm back to working capacity.

We are a small family of three, me Emily 34, Sam 34, recently arrived Connie, just over 1 year. Almost three years ago we brought one of the abandoned "casais de Folgosinho", featured in the documentary "Ainda Ha Pastores". We feel a strong responsibility to bring this place back to life and to show it the respect it deserves.

Me (Emily) and Sam spent 3 years travelling and volunteering here in Portugal before moving here. During our travels we have learnt a bit about permaculture principles, wild food and organic farming. In our previous lives, Sam was a sheet metal worker, and me a digital designer. We want to use all... more inside

Hi there, thanks for choosing to read our entry :))
We live on a small farm (2.5 hectares) inland of Central Portugal, 30km from the Spanish border in a beautiful wild area. From our land you can see the mountain of Monsanto (Sacred Mountain).
We have 80 olive trees, 250 vines, various fruit trees and an ever-expanding vegetable garden.
We are restoring the land; planting trees and digging ponds and swales. We are working towards a food forest, self-sufficiency, and money-less living. Those are our ultimate goals!
Volunteers will be working on any of the land projects: digging garden beds, planting trees, watering the nursery, working in the veggie garden or helping us build because we are still in the process of creating structures.
We like to use natural methods of building and work with reclaimed materials as much as possible.
We are designing our property along the lines of permaculture principles. A friend recently called our life-style 'natural living'. We don't reall... more inside

We are a registered animal protection society near Vila do Bispo in the South Western Algarve in Portugal. We have a dog sanctuary with up to 100 abandoned dogs and puppies at any one time. We are looking for volunteers to help look after the dogs for between 4 and 6 hours per day. The work involves feeding them and ensuring they have sufficient water, cleaning the areas, spending time with them, helping to train them, walking them, making sure they have enough shade and shelters and maintaining the pounds. All our dogs live in large pounds with space to run and play with other dogs they get along with. They all have proper shaded areas, with comfy beds and trees or bushes for shade too. They are all happy, this is not a sad shelter! Portugal has a large number of abandoned and unwanted dogs. We sterilised over 85 dogs last year and found homes for 105 in different countries throughout Europe. This year we have found homes for 83 so far. We need voluntary help to continue o... more inside
