(CURRENTLY NO VACANCY UNTIL FEB 2020)

I am a 59 year old father of three grown up boys (no longer living at home). I've lived in Torquay, the 'capital' of Victoria's beautiful surf coast, for 25 years. I am a surfer and a novelist. The house is a modern and spacious beach house. It operates pretty much like a mini-backpackers or guesthouse during the warmer months with two or three rooms available for rent. I'm looking for one person to help with the rooms (re-setting, making beds, cleaning) doing laundry and keeping the bathroom, toilet and common areas of the house clean and tidy. It's a pretty easy job, only about 1-2 hours per day each. There's plenty of time to surf, enjoy the beach and the unique surf culture of Torquay. The house is fairly close to the beach (about 20 min walk) and I have bicycles available for guests to use. Bells Beach is only 15 min drive away and Torquay is the gateway to the world famous Great Ocean Road. The accommodation is in a private room with t... more inside

Looking for a helper from feb 2020.

We have a busy family home in inner Melbourne suburb of East Brunswick. We live in a very cool suburb, 5 km from Melbourne CBD. It is a vibrant local area with loads of parks, bars, cafes and restaurants and culture, with trams right here to get you into the city in 20 minutes.

We would like to exchange 20hours of light work for room and board, or less hours if you want to do your own food. We are looking for a helpx helper who is willing to help with housekeeping, gardening, and cooking. We enjoy welcoming helpers to our home to enjoy some cultural exchange. We would prefer someone to stay 1 week or more if possible.

We are an energetic family who are busy with lots of sports, study and work. We are up early in the mornings so if you like your sleep ins you need not apply. We also try to live in a sustainable way, and would love a helper who has a green attitude.

Our family consists of Sophie, a 45 year old physio who works ful... more inside

I live in a large regional city one hour by train from Melbourne in a comfortable three-bedroom home with a medium-sized garden. I prefer a young man willing to work in my garden, maybe a little house cleaning. If he has some experience in painting the exterior wood parts of a brick home that could be an advantage, and also knowing a weed from a plant (!). I offer a private room, internet access, meals (French and Italian cuisine) in exchange for four hours work per day, mainly light work, five days a week.I usually find that young helpers don't have much gardening experience and I am happy to show them what they need to do. The time that they do the required 4 hours of work on week-days can be flexible but helpers must be happy and willing to do a full 4 hours per day because I really hate it if I find that I have to keep urging them to continue their work; in such a case the exchange is not worth my trouble. I really prefer someone from France or Italy. I speak those languages flu... more inside

Current Projects:
-we are renovating a room and would love some help with painting
-we always have gardening, planting and weeding to do

We live in a beautiful part of Melbourne, on traditional Wurundjeri country right on the Yarra River.

We grow food, keep chickens, have a small orchard, and make plenty of good food!

Activities during your stay could include: planting, picking, digging, weeding, mulching, landcare, revegetation, sourdough baking, pottery, woodwork, meditation, kayaking, and of course swimming in the river in the afternoon.

Jane & I (Bill) work in the city 3 days each week. We would love for you to be able to self-direct and take initiative in terms of what you would be able to do at our place. We are able to work with you some of the time, and our son (22) is also able to work with you when he is here (pottery, baker, permaculture gardener).
We ask for approx 20hrs/wk of help around the place in exchange for accommodation and food. We also a... more inside

“Glendara” is 12kms south of Harrow, halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide and is situated on the Glenelg River with rolling hills, red gums and lots of birdlife and kangaroos.

We are sheep graziers with a little bit of cropping each year, mainly to renovate pasture. We also have a 2 bedroom cottage on our property that we run as a B&B.

Helpx workers with or without farming experience are very welcome at our property, as long as they come with a keen attitude and a willingness to try new things.

At present the farm is not so busy as the harvest is finished. Geoff keeps busy with general farm maintenance and feeding hay and grain to ewes and lambs. Helpx workers would enjoy assisting with these jobs or helping in the garden or maybe some spring cleaning in the homestead.

With hot sunny days and daylight savings you will have plenty of time to enjoy relaxing in our inground swimming pool.

We love meeting people and have a big home that allows for helpers to have their... more inside
