Our General 'live in' volunteering programme is currently on hold in 2018. We are reviewing our Volunteering Programme across the organisations to ensure exciting, supported opportunities in the future. You are welcome to message us but we do not currently have any live volunteering opportunities.

Our lodge, 'a place to grow', is a former Victorian hunting Lodge built in the 1850s and set in 52 acres of beautiful mixed woods at the foot of Tinto Hill, near Biggar in Southern Scotland. The Lodge is in a remote rural location 15 minutes by car to the nearest shops. Our residential outdoor centre provides an 'emotionally secure' environment in which young people and vulnerable adults undertake Personal, Social and Emotional Development through experiential outdoor challenge activities, nature connections and the creative arts. We also welcome many diverse self programming groups. Our food is renowned, homemade and tasty. It is ethically and locally sourced.

We are a small community being together more than 20 years. The four founders continue to share complementary spiritual, political and social values. For most of the time we are more than four adults, as we rent out parts of our properties, and our grown up children occasionally join us. Located in the countryside in the North of Scotland, with good public transport available from Inverness or Aberdeen. We are part of a vibrant alternative population attracted by the nearby ‘Findhorn Foundation’. There are always inspiring activities to do and join, interesting people to meet. You will be supplied with a bicycle and can reach the Foundation in 20 minutes. The beach and local town of Forres are each about 30 minutes away.
Mainly self-sufficient in organic fruit and vegetables, we manage around 2 acres of land, including a large poly-tunnel, large vegetable growing areas, and many flower beds. We will continue to eat together at least twice a week. On the other days you may need to ... more inside

We are based in the beautiful highlands of Scotland. Although it is a rural setting we are close to Inverness and Aviemore where there are many activities available; especially outdoor. Glenan Lodge is a 7 bedroom guesthouse in a traditional victorian house with stunning scenery around. The village itself has a wonderful community and plenty walks so you can get the full experience of the highlands.
We would be looking for extra help with serving meals to our guests and cleaning rooms. In exchange you would have your own room and share our family communal areas, you would also be part of the family so if you wish could join us on outings - whatever you would be comfortable to do.
Hope to hear from you as we would love to give people from other cultures a taste of Scotland.

We are a fun-loving hostel right in the heart of Edinburgh's fantastic old town. The hostel is in a historic building just off the famous Royal Mile in Scotland's fascinating and vibrant capital.
We offer our guests a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere in a unique and clean environment.

As a helper you would be part of our international house keeping team. The work consists mainly of the daily cleaning jobs in the hostel, like making beds, cleaning the kitchen, showers and toilets, hoovering and doing laundry. You would work 2 hours per day for your accommodation in one of our staff dorms, a free laundry wash per week, and internet.

It's important for us to maintain a very high standard of cleanliness. We also want all our guests to feel comfortable and welcome, so we like our staff to be friendly and outgoing and happy to get in touch with our guests and other staff.
We require a minimum stay of one month.

Please note that this is a volunteer position which de... more inside

"As a volunteer at Chisholme House you are appreciated for who you are, not only for what you do."

This is a place of great beauty set in the heart of the Scottish Borders. It is primarily a school and retreat centre. The 187 acre estate offers an ideal space in which to retreat, engage in study and experience the reviving effect of being close to nature.

We accept help throughout the year but at the moment we are particularly looking for help over the summer. Come and join volunteers from all over the world for a week or two of satisfying work in Chisholme's walled garden and estate - and help too in preparing the wonderful meals for which we are famous. You can come for one of our special volunteer weeks when a programme of activities complements work outside - or at any other time. Please see the website for more details http://www.chisholme.org/whats-on/upcoming-courses.html

We run a busy Bed and Breakfast facility within our family home, which is situated in a small picturesque village called Plockton, on the mainland of the north west highlands. We are near the Isle of Skye. During the season we would welcome your help with the B&B and any help around the home/garden during the day would also be welcome . You would have your own room with it's own bathroom facility near by.

There is a vibrant traditional music scene in the village, beautiful walks around the coast and the countryside, it also attracts its fair share of artists who take inspiration from its location in the Scottish Highlands. The village is situated on the shores of a sea loch, and provides availability of water sports during the summer season.

This is a hostel on the North side of the Hebridean island of Tiree off the west coast of Scotland, close to goregous beaches and a 2 minute walk from the watersports centre. It sleeps 14 in a mixture of dorms and family rooms. There is a cycle hire business within the hostel grounds.
For the 2018 season I would be very interested in hearing from someone, or maybe preferably a couple, who would be interested in spending the season on Tiree and playing a big part in the running of the hostel
. I would also be interested in hosting someone to work on and around the watermill. Some level of knowledge in the field of waterwheel engineering, renewable energy and/or stonemasonry would be required. In return I can offer accommodation and some help with food, although it would be predominately self-catering. If interested, please tell me about yourself, what you think you could contribute and what appeals to you about a stay on Tiree.

Hello, we are Debbie and Brian, a couple in our 40/50s living on a croft (smallholding) on the North West coast of Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides with our 2 sons. We are just at the start of our journey to turn 8 acres of rough grazing land into a productive self sufficient croft, so there is a lot of path laying, tree planting, gardening etc as well as caring for our ever growing livestock numbers.

We are looking for people to help us for several hours each day and generally join in with household life, in return for a bedroom, all meals and living as part of the family. We will try to pick people who we think will really fit in with us and get on well with the whole family and our animals.
We are in a remote and rural location, we are part of a crofting township which is reasonably well provided for, there are a couple of shops, launderette, pub, social club, restaurants and sports centre all within 2 miles of our house. The nearest town is Stornoway and there is a bus... more inside

This farm is part of a social enterprise located just outside Edinburgh. It's a working farm producing fruit, vegetables and eggs; it's also home to a community of vulnerable young people, many with experience of homelessness. The Farm grows food and helps the community to grow people, providing a range of opportunities for individuals to develop skills and confidence as a step towards a settled lifestyle.
