Hi there,

I decided to try HelpX after a friend recommended it.

I want to renovate my home as it has fallen a little into disrepair over the years. Its comfortable and clean etc, just needs painting and so on. My budget is not huge but most of the work requires time more than money. For example tidying the garden, painting, weeding, and general work.

I run a fitness business which you are welcome to use, and I live 15 minutes drive from Kilkenny city. I`m free a good bit during the day so I can drive you to the city and I have a bicycle which takes maybe 15 minutes to the local small town for shops etc.

You`ll have a nice comfy double room and use of the rest of the house. I`ll see if I can get some pictures in here somewhere. The house is on a private laneway half a kilometre from the main road.

If you`d like to visit Kilkenny and tour around, or improve your English etc, give me a shout.

I`m also a carpenter, I have many years experience ... more inside

We live 4km from a seaside village in SW Ireland with wonderful beaches and the location of our house has the feeling of being very remote, surrounded by mountains and overlooking a lake. We need someone/couple with a car of their own (the car must be able to handle a bad bumpy road to our house!) to come and help us with a few painting jobs indoor and outdoor too. I think 2 weeks would be a good length of time to stop by and that can be anytime over June, July or August. It would be great if occasionally you could drive my son (aged 17yrs) to the village as he has a job there but only if this suits and perhaps now and again stay with my younger son (aged 13yrs) if we have an overlap of work schedules etc - he is fine on his own but nice to have someone around too! It is a beautiful place to stay and you would have your own separate accommodation and lots of spare time. We have a few animals here; we have 12 hens, 1 rabbit, 2 goldfish, 3 cats, 4 sheep & 1 labrador (aged 7) & a ne... more inside

HELP! I've bought an Old Farmhouse by mistake, I need the good, the strong and the not so ugly to help me out. I sort of want to say it's organic, but I've had a brief peruse of other hosts and they're all talking about permaculture, which I thought was a bad hairstyle fashion, big in Liverpool in the eighties, along with shell-suits and rioting! I'm out in the sticks here people, well just a 15 minute drive from the famous Medieval city of Kilkenny, 'The Marble City' -self flagellation and thumb screws are optional- bravery is not, so just 15 minutes out of town and in the heart of the Kilkenny Mountains, on a rare night, like tonight, every single star in all the Galaxy, lights up the Irish sky, the crows snore, loudly and if your lucky and drink enough you might just see the leprechauns dance through the woods, that's a very rare night, it's mostly overcast and chucking down unreasonable sums of rain. Don't be alarmed during the day, which may also be damp, if you hear a tractor ... more inside

We are a small family of a violin maker father, arts manager mum, and two little girls of 2 and 4. We are a laidback and open-minded household with plenty of space and a nice little garden, 10 minutes walk from Cork, Ireland`s greatest city, where there is a particularly strong music and food culture.

We are looking for help in two areas - with our girls and also with general maintenance around the house.

For the children we mostly need help with the every day tasks of getting them ready in the morning, walking them to and from creche or preschool, minding them during the afternoon, bedtime, or just light housework so Mum can give the girls her attention for 15-20 hours a week and occasional babysitting or cooking.

For the house we would love to host people who can help various jobs that need doing around the house. My husband is a perfectionist so he doesn`t like DIY, but please be aware that he would expect a good job to be done on anything!
