No real private room for hosts yet, only my children bedroom when they are not here ! My plan is to make an other bedroom so I am looking for skilled people for roof insulating, window building, electrical wiring...

We have 2 big houses built in 1860, by my great grand father who was head of a factory making stoves and all sorts of things in cast iron. We have a big park needing lots of care and a house needing also lots of care. it is a lovely place, a 19 century time warp, where we all love to come in summer to be reunited. We always need extra help for cooking, maintening and looking after young children. It is a family athmosphere and a life in the the French countryside. It is only for country lovers and it s a very unspoilt part of France

We live in the midst of the rural Mayenne region, surrounded by beautiful scenery, rolling fields and dairy farms, but are still within easy reach of towns, villages and larger cities like Laval and Rennes.

Outside we have about an acre of land, consisting of a vegetable garden, from which we are pretty self-sufficient, an orchard which provides our fruit and is the home for our mixed flock of birds who provide our eggs(chickens, duck, guinea fowl and geese) and the rest of the land is lawns and flower gardens.

We have ongoing jobs of painting, chopping wood, clearing parts of the garden, building flower beds and general garden duties, most of which will be quite physical, and I am sure will take us right through the summer months.

Whilst we are not vegetarian ourselves, we can provide vegetarian meals.

We have good wi-fi access, but not very good mobile phone reception.

Please contact us if you are interested.

We are an english family with grown up children, have lived in France for 11 years and breed native Fell ponies that we have lived and worked with for many years, and now breed, we have 13 ponies here and i have 3 which need to be trained to ride and drive this summer, also help in the garden and with the cooking would be good, so we can have lots of time with the ponies. I will need a person who can stay for 4 weeks as the "starter " training for a pony is about this time and it is important to have the same two working trainers so that the pony trusts you.
You must have enthusiaism for working with animals and want to learn about them, but you do not need to have been trained with horses before, as this is helping me to do the training, but if you can ride this is good, and have a keen interest in country life.
TRAINING these ponies as I see it, is time and patience, with a little work every day and enjoying the trust an animal can put in you is a very good worth while feeling. ... more inside
