Our plans have changed and we are currently unable to host given the Covid-19 situation. All the best for your travels and take care.

We are an easy going couple living off-grid on a rural lifestyle property 90 minutes from Melbourne. We have a kitchen garden, chickens, 4 horses, and a dog. We have a small timber plantation, natural habitat areas, and dams for swimming and fishing.

We would prefer that you have travel insurance, and your own car would be an advantage. Flexible work hours and 2 weeks stay is preferred - longer by agreement.

Local area: Yarra valley wineries, Cathedral Mountain range bushwalking, fishing, mountain bike riding. We've had quite a few travellers stay over the years, have had a lot of great times and made many friends.

Our place is fully off grid. Separate accommodation in refurbished shed. Great views, quiet location, mountain bikes to use, sunsets, see kangaroos and other wildlife. We would appreciate your help and will ensure you enjoy yo... more inside

We regret that due to the current pandemic, our advancing age and existing health issues we have little option but to exercise social isolation. As such we are unable to host at this time.

We are now located in Somerville, approximately 1 hour 20 minutes by train or 1 hour 30 minutes by car from central Melbourne. Somerville is south of the CBD on the Mornington Peninsula and is a small town with modern facilities. The location provides excellent access to the beaches both surf and swimming, wineries and tourist attractions the region has to offer.

Our home is in a quiet location close to the township. It is spacious, modern and comfortable with excellent facilities including a solar heated swimming pool. We offer meals and a private comfortable bedroom with a queen size bed and access to a seperate spa bathroom. Please note there is only one room available with one bed so if you are not a couple you would have to be comfortable sharing as the bed cannot be split in... more inside

We'd love some help in the garden, orchard and woodlot from 1-2 people. There's lots of picking and processing (and eating!) blackberries, apples, pears and nashis and many veggies as the harvest comes in March, April, May. Also firewood collecting and stacking, and collecting branches for making compost using a mulching machine.

About us:
Our approach to being custodians of the land is to grow as much of our food and fuel as we can using permaculture principles. We also provide habitat for wildlife by planting and maintaining local native plants. We're looking for people who care about sustainability, are interested in what we do here and are willing to learn and contribute to our project with their work and ideas.

You'll stay in a our much-loved first home, a cosy mudbrick cottage (see photos) - with excellent wifi! We're mostly vegetarian and happily accommodate vegans. We enjoy good healthy food, good conversation, and good company. Just up the road from world famous ... more inside
