We are a family with two kids aged 13 and 11. We run our family's beef farm and also have a farmstay on the west coast.

We are into everything horsey, out doors and farm.
We are looking for a confident horse rider to help with the ponies/horses.
Some daily house duties.

Don't need to be a world class jumps rider but must be a good confident rider out in large spaces on a big horse.
If you had lessons once a week 10 years ago this probably isn't for you.

Lots of riding to be had for the right person/people.

See our farm stay website link above for pictures of the farm.

We have had awesome helpx people so far and look forward to sharing our home with someone new.

Suit one or two people.
Would also suit couples/friends where one rides and the other helps on the farm or in the house.
Available now.

Macadamia growing and processing. Nut harvesting and dehusking finished for this season, other farm work which is generally relatively light still going on. Garden is always in need of attention. Gutters need cleaning! Restoration of a 1936 Alvis car with wooden framed body with steel skin, making slow progress. As well as 400 mature Macadamia trees there are three adult kunekune pigs, and two talkative young piglets, three sheep and some clucky Bantam hens. 4 hours help per day, very relaxed atmosphere. we prefer people who have at least 5 years life experience since leaving school. Our guide dog Yasmin has now graduated and is assisting a blind person and we are very proud of her. We are retired health professionals and enjoy lots of good conversation at the dinner table! Bombay and Pukekohe within walking distance for energetic walkers, otherwise, own transport is an advantage, easy access to Auckland exists via trains from Pukekohe.

Update:
Hello helpx friends! Currently we are needing couples or 2 friends travelling together to stay for a week or more.

Much of the help needed is involved in maintaining the orchards and harvesting fruit. We have free access to the internet for emailing, browsing and telephony. Accommodation for guests is in small cabins.

Our farm is quite close to Auckland but is not on a direct bus route so we usually pick people up from Silverdale. Many helpers stay with us as a base to start their travels in New Zealand and return at the end if they are flying out again through Auckland.

Regards Jo and Hal

Our Community
Kaukapakapa is a small rural community 45mins NW of Auckland. We live in a lovely cul de sac and are very close to our neighbors on the street, often having street BBQ's and get togethers.

Our home
I live in a traditional old farm house built in the late 1800's (which is considerably old for New Zealand!). It is a large house with country style kitchen, old, detailed high ceilings and beautiful views down to NZ native wetlands and the river.

Your room will be a large upstairs room away from the main family rooms with views and windows on three sides.

We are largely self-sufficient in terms of fruit and vegetables and use organic practices for growing our food. The property is only small (3 acres) but there is always maintenance to be done, such as mulching, weeding etc.

About us
Our family consists of myself and my two children aged 6 and 9yo. My father also stays here during the weekends. We also have two cats, a bottle fed lamb, 2 horses and 8 chi... more inside

We live on a sundrenched acre of land with sweeping views of native bush and the harbour. Super close to Titirangi village with its cafes and bars, supermarket and bus stops, but tucked into the hillside overlooking the rest of the world, you could easily be a million miles from civilisation.
Great location to head north or south for travelling and in your spare time there are amazing black sand surf beach close by Piha & Bethells beach. Fantastic opportunity to explore the Waitakere Ranges - with plenty of bush walks and waterfalls and spectacular scenery very close by.

4mins drive from Titirangi Village (Cafe, supermarket, restaurants etc)

35minute drive to Auckland City. Limited public transport - but bus stop at the end of the road, train station in New Lynn. Connections from New Lynn to central Auckland city & airport etc.

Around 10-15mins to the mall (Lynn mall) cinemas etc.

We're after someone/someones to help with restoring the native bush at the fringes of the... more inside

Hi - we are a couple of 60+ year olds, still young at heart who have regularly enjoyed company from around the globe. We have a lifestyle block which we affectionately call our life sentence block because there is always work needing to be done. We have a little slice of paradise less than an hour (non peak traffic times) from downtown Auckland. Set in resort-like surroundings with a swimming pool and man-cave, our home is a great place to drop your travel bags, and relax a while. Lex has been in a car accident and is now in a wheelchair, but has all the knowledge and tools to give you a great NZ rural experience. We need independent helpers with outdoor skills to keep our little place running and tidy. We specifically need help with a variety of tasks eg gardening, controlling weeds and tasks to keep our land and home under control. Ability to drive a tractor or use power tools would be useful. Lex also has a military vehicle he is restoring and loves a hand with that too. We reall... more inside
