We are raising our two kids on a small eco-friendly farm on Banks Peninsula, 35 minutes from central Christchurch.

We offer a farmstay, with accommodation in a warm open-plan sleepout. All food is provided. We will provide you with food for your own breakfasts. You are welcome to join us for lunches and your evening meal. We would like helpers to work for four hours per night stayed helping us to regenerate native bush, farm chores and gardening.

At the moment we would love your help with planting native trees and general farm work.

We aim to be as self-sufficient as we can. We grow and eat some of our food. We're not vegetarians. Our heating and hotwater is a mix of solar and wood burners with wetbacks. We try to recycle our waste including having composting toilets.

We have great walking and biking at our back door accessing Banks Peninsula's highest peaks. David travels into Christchurch each week day and is happy to pick you up at the museum. Absolutely no smok... more inside

Hello there. We are looking for some lovely friendly helpX and company.

We are new residents to Okains Bay, Banks Peninsula. We have travelled all over the world ourselves and would love to meet and exchange cultures with you all. We have had a few HelpX people to stay and feel it is such a wonderful, worthwhile exchange. We have previously hosted many people via Couchsurfing in Cambridge, England.

We have a tiny family (just the two of us) and really enjoy the company of others.

If you have any practical skills ie you are handy with gardening we are wanting to set up a vegetable garden and strawberry house from scratch. We have started (with the amazing help of HelpX helpers) to sand and seal the native timber floors. We love all DIY skills and we love initiative.

We have a lovely 11 year old boy in the house and he attends the local school (current school role has 10 children). I am studying UX design & Web development until the end of the year and so this would r... more inside

We require someone for a week or two to do basic housework and some gardening work. working alongside me.

We live in a beautiful old homestead and live on a sheep, cattle and deer farm in Little River, 30 minutes from Akaroa and 50 km from Christchurch.
We invite you to stay in our family home with Matt & myself (Sue) and two of our children Angus & Georgie (18,15). We need help in the garden (alot!!) and household chores.

We offer you your own room and welcome you to join us for homecooked meals. If you are a whizz in the kitchen, Sue doesn't mind a hand at all!!During your spare time we can offer a pool (in summer months), tv, or you can just join in with the family activities (never a dull moment!), or take some time to have a look around further afield on the Banks Peninsula.
The Akaroa Shuttle runs daily to/from Little River to Akaroa and Christchurch.

Fancy waking up to a lovely sea view? We live in a beautiful spot, 10 mins drive from Akaroa, close to Duvauchelle and just over an hour from Christchurch. We can offer lovely accommodation separate to our house to one or two people willing to lend a hand with general spring clean/ DIY/ gardening duties. 4 and a half hours (hard) work every day you stay in exchange for accommodation and (good!) food -whether you are a meat eater/vegetarian. We expect a lot but also give a lot. Read our reviews to see how much other helpers enjoyed their stay.

Gnnerally, stays of a few nights or a week are usually more suitable for us than long term helpers although we have had some exceptional helpers who stayed for longer periods and this may be a possibility. We can pick up from the Akaroa Shuttle and sometimes Christchurch.

We have lots to do in the garden: digging, weeding planting, clearing etc. Sometimes, we need help with general spring cleaning: house washing, window cleaning... more inside

Our family of five lives on a 10 acre lifestyle block 25 minutes south of Christchurch on the way to Akaroa. We grow our own vegetables, fruit and animals on the farm, and usually cut the larger paddocks for hay. We enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible and are keen bikers, skiiers and climbers. The size of the property means there is always a lot to do so we are grateful for the time and energy our helpers give to us.

We offer free self-catering accommodation in our fully self-contained one bedroomed flat, plus use of bikes, swimming pool and unlimited wireless internet in exchange for 4 hours labour per day. You can also help yourself to whatever is in season - vegetables, grapefruit, figs, pears, plums, feijoas, rhubarb etc. Work includes light farm duties and gardening and is suitable for those with no farm experience. Typical jobs include tending the vegetable patch, weeding, mowing the lawns and pruning trees and bushes. As we have three children there is plenty to be... more inside

Hi there

Thank you for stopping by ;) .

We are based on Banks Peninsula, close to Christchurch city. We are looking for some help with all sorts of projects- from small buildings, plumbing to making swings and slides as well as the usual work in the garden and campground. You get your own sunny cabin and we ask for only 3hrs work a day. Or if you have a tent or van, we ask for one hours work. You would provide your own food etc and cook for yourselves so you eat what and when you like. This would best suit a couple, or group of friends. Your own transport is ideal so you can use your free time to explore the wonders of Banks Peninsula.
We don't care when you start work, as long as it is for 3 or 4 hours a day. So if you like a sleep in, that's fine with us. We also have wireless for you to check emails and facebook. You provide your food so you eat what and when you like. It is best if you have your own transport so you can explore the area extensively.

We'd like to share our piece of paradise with travellers interest... more inside
