Fancy waking up to a lovely sea view? We live in a beautiful spot, 10 mins drive from Akaroa, close to Duvauchelle and just over an hour from Christchurch. We can offer lovely accommodation separate to our house to one or two people willing to lend a hand with general spring clean/ DIY/ gardening duties. 4 and a half hours (hard) work every day you stay in exchange for accommodation and (good!) food -whether you are a meat eater/vegetarian. We expect a lot but also give a lot. Read our reviews to see how much other helpers enjoyed their stay.

Gnnerally, stays of a few nights or a week are usually more suitable for us than long term helpers although we have had some exceptional helpers who stayed for longer periods and this may be a possibility. We can pick up from the Akaroa Shuttle and sometimes Christchurch.

We have lots to do in the garden: digging, weeding planting, clearing etc. Sometimes, we need help with general spring cleaning: house washing, window cleaning... more inside

Hi There Helpers,

We have a small flock of sheep, a large hobby vineyard and a good sized garden and are looking for one helper to start sometime in the last week of March for a week.

The main work will be in the vineyard with some gardening and general farm work so any experience with farm life would be helpful but not essential.

Our property runs from the road down to a small beach where we keep a couple of kayaks helpers can use or just swim, walk and enjoy our beautiful little bay.

We would like you to work five hours a day with us(or whatever suits us both) in return for a room and good healthy, varied meals. Peter loves cooking on the barbeque and sharing his knowledge of grape growing and making his own wine and beer.

Preferably you would have your own transport but if not you can take the Christchurch to Akaroa shuttle bus, get off at Barry's Bay (where the cheese factory is) and we will collect you from there.

Definitely no smoking or drugs.

We sha... more inside

We have a 180 cow dairy farm. We also have four young children so lead very busy lives. You will be helping with cleaning, sheep work, fencing, firewood, some housework or childcare or general farm chores.

We live in a beautiful part of New Zealand. There are heaps of gorgeous beaches for you to explore and Akaroa is only a 15 minute drive away.

We host a French University student every July to early October so we can't take anyone over that time. We also only have room for one person at a time.

We would prefer to host people for at least two week but prefer longer. The first four hours of work each day pay for your room and keep and after that any extra will be paid.

Give us a call, Rachel and Hamish

Kia ora kotou
We are a busy family with 5 sons (9, 12, 17, 19, 23 years - with the oldest being overseas) and live in Diamond Harbour on the Banks Peninsula.
We have a beautiful home and our Micro-Farm, as we call it ... a garden, some chickens and we grow organic children :-) There's always something happening in our house, but we also just enjoy the simple village and community life. We all love to have visitors, talking, eating together, sharing our home and getting to know new people.
And of course, there is always something to do in our household! We love doing it ourselves, but sometimes it is nice to have a little help, for example with work in the house, cooking, in the garden, with the children or just being there to give a little backup.
Diamond Harbour is a small village on the beautiful Banks Peninsula, no shops, but great community and lots of nature.

We are a German family with lots of travel experience in NZ and local knowledge and we are happy to support y... more inside

I have a 100 year old house and garden I am bringing back to life in Little River. Thereís painting and garden establishing/clearing work to do. A whole range of building work will be being done.
Itís not currently completely suitable to stay at the house but 15/20 min over the hill in Barryís Bay I have access to a cute cottage that it is fully set up. You would need your own transport. I think it would work best that you could be fairly independent re food. At times I will need to be away. Happy for few hours work a day or full day and then days off and or away.
Grateful for painting, garden and general labouring.
Itís a quiet area and great jumping off point for exploring. I love Banks Peninsula.

We are a family of four with a large house and garden to care for. Our home is situated within a farm and it's in the beautiful Banks Peninsula area. Akaroa is a short drive away.
We recently moved to our house and the garden is in need of some attention as it has become pretty overgrown.
We are myself Brigid, my husband Mark and our two girls Alyana 16 and Livi 13.
We love to travel and we love meeting new people. We enjoy sharing dinners and good conversations.
We also have a small dog Alfie who gets very excited when people come and barks to let us know you have arrived.
We can provide accommodation and most meals.
Most of the work will be in the garden although help with household cleaning is great. I love it when other people cook.
It is best if you have a car as you can then explore the fabulous Banks Peninsula. We are in a quiet Bay and Akaroa is close by with restaurants, shops and adventures.

Our sheep & cattle and farm is located in a picturesque private bay. We have a large organic garden and run a Farmstay & Farm Tour business. Helpers here join in and become part of the family. Jobs are varied depending on what we are doing when you are here e.g. gardening, cooking, cleaning, farm work. Minimum stay 2 weeks. See our website for further information, photos and location map.
