UPDATE March 2020
Important personal note re: Coronavirus / Covid-19:

Due to the rapid and worrying development of the Covid-19 Coronavirus, and the "different" (but I believe sensible) approach being taken by the UK Government, I am not currently taking helpers on my narrowboat. Indeed all unnecessary travel is currently forbidden and for many of you just getting here and away would be difficult, if not impossible. Added to that is the need to avoid as much contact as possible with other people and the fact that the UK National Health Service will shortly become overwhelmed with people needing intensive care as a result of the virus.

We all hope this situation will improve over the next few months. However it is looking increasingly likely that the World will, sadly, not be the same as before. I will eagerly invite helpers once again when things improve. Please follow the precautions and guidelines wherever you are and stay safe! I feel for you all....

PS: If there are a... more inside

*** Covid-19 update. We are looking for a replacement for our lockdown helper who has been brilliant and will leave in the middle of May after spending three months with us. If you are available and it is safe to travel, and you would like a long term placement with us then please get in touch. As we have no guests at the moment much of the daily chores are outside and are physical / manual and ideally suited to a male or someone not afraid of hard work!! Couples welcome :-)

Katie and I own a small crofting home in the rural heart of the Scottish West Highlands in a small village called Lochailort.

During the summer months and peak times we offer Bed and Breakfast or Self / Catering to paying guests.

We are always looking for good helpers (a couple ideally or a self-motivated individual) with a minimum stay of 4 weeks or longer if possible.

Places are available now.

We are remote, but the area is stunning and can be just the most beautiful in all seasons.

***VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED***

Hey everyone,

We are looking for volunteers for our fun, friendly backpackers hostel in the historic city centre of Oxford.

We understand that there is some uncertainty with travel dates during the Covid-19 restrictions but please get in touch and we will work out a time that we can host safely and that works for both us and you.

The role is varied and includes but not limited to, reception shifts, housekeeping, making beds, cleaning bathrooms and common areas, helping out on our little bar.

We are looking for people who like to work hard and are always up for a laugh as we all like to go out and have a bit of fun!

Please write us a message explaining why you are the person for the role, your previous experience and when you are available to begin.

Please only apply if you are over the age of 18 and available for at least 3 weeks. The longer the better though :)

I own and run a small farm and campsite (in the summer months) on the stunningly beautiful and 'wild' north Pembrokeshire coast.
I grew up in Wales and after university, lived and worked in London for a number of years. During that time I travelled extensively to many parts of the world.
I returned to Wales to renovate the house and farm over a decade ago.

THE AREA
The farm is situated on the coast between Fishguard and the small city of St. Davids with its ancient cathedral.
There is direct access to 3 beaches, the cliffs and the world-famous coast path.

There are lots of activities which include hiking, surfing, kayaking, music, photography and arts and crafts to name but a few.

THE FARM is a small traditional farm with a flock of Welsh pedigree sheep and several horses.

CAMPSITE.
We have a "nearly wild" campsite in a very large field with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and the ocean. It is limited to ten pitches and visitors love the s... more inside

We live in a beautiful Grade 2 listed Tudor House with 3 acres of ancient garden, meadow and woodland that need developing

***At the moment I would really like some help with setting up a web page IT organisation (female) and the garden so
a couple could work. We have a beautiful self contained studio in the garden that we normally rent out that we are giving over to the Help X project.

Hedge cutting tree chopping May

We also have some work inside and outside of the house itself - sanding, painting, drilling. Therefore it would be advantageous for you to have some skills.

There is generally a lot of repair and fixing up work nothing too challenging but common sense and some experience in this area is required.

We would hope to make your work enjoyable and rewarding , you would be helping us maintain this special place of history which we feel sure you will fall in love with as we have done.

This would be a great opportunity to live and nurture a ... more inside

***We are looking for people for July and August and for people from October onwards.

We are close to town and sea with Dartmoor nearby.

Whilst we do prefer longer stays we will take people for as little as 3 weeks. But not less than 3 weeks, we find that the early days can be difficult for everyone and it takes a while to get to know each other. It also takes time for helpers to learn the routines.

Philosophy:
We have a small holding in Devon where we aim to grow as much of our own food as we can in an organic and sustainable way. So we have a small orchard a Kitchen Garden for vegetable growing, a fruit garden for soft fruit plus half an acre of flower gardens. We also have poultry (Chickens, various ducks, and geese) and there are bees which belong to a friend. The poultry are not for eating, but do provide us with a plentiful supply of eggs for most of the year.
Although not self sufficient in fruit and vegetables we do try to grow what we can, so there is usually f... more inside

COVID-19 UPDATE: We are still operating and supporting the young people in our residential communities. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to some of our brilliant volunteers who returned to their homes due to the pandemic. We've started recruiting again and are looking for 4-5 volunteers to start in June-August for a minimum of 3months (if you can stay longer that's even better!) to take the places of those who had to leave and replace current volunteers at the end of their placements.

Thanks to those who have messaged about the places and apologies for the delays in getting back to you. We are compiling new information for applicants based on recent guidance from the Scottish Government and Care Inspectorate and will be in touch as soon as this is done. Thank-you for your patience
