Hi. Thanks for looking at our profile.

Our next availability is from 7 September 2020.

This is what we are about in a nutshell:

We are about nourishing mind, body & soil. Our lodge is a secluded, easily accessible guest house and retreat space offering bed and breakfast and group space with stunning views of the Scottish countryside in the Kingdom of Fife. It is a place where guests can just "be".

You will be supporting us in making the above guest experience possible.

We value authenticity, integrity, honesty and self-awareness.

We have put together this outline as a result of our hosting experience so far. We find that it helps to clarify what is on offer at Cherry Tree Lodge and what is expected of someone who comes to support what we offer. Expectations have a greater chance of being met for both parties which can lead to a more all-round, fulfilling experience.

We are looking for people who can:

Beautiful views and a lovely rural setting close to an alternative town with plenty going on (Hebden Bridge) nestled between Manchester and Leeds in the South Pennines. We are also on a bus route and near a train station.

I would love people to help me with my smallholding and meadows. I have two cows to graze the land and a flock of chickens.

There are meadows with a stream running through. The plan is to develop the meadows for wild flowers, generate woodland along the stream and create a pond area to increase biodiversity. There is also a growing veg plot and newly planted orchard.

I am not registered organic but have an organic sensibility. I follow a basic permaculture principle and am focused on resource management.

I need help with whatever I am doing. I'm usually outside (whatever the weather), removing problem plants, generally weeding, planting, painting, building dry stone walls, making paths, moving stones or working on out-buildings. If the weather is very ... more inside

Sadly, because of Coronavirus, we canít consider any helpx applications for the foreseeable future. Thanks for your interest; stay safe and well.

Our 17th century farmhouse is home to Piers, Sue, three young people aged 19-23 (two are away at university), two house cats and a small, very friendly dog. Our stay length is two, occasionally three, weeks.

We offer helpxers comfortable accommodation in a prime tourist area, excellent food and a genuine welcome, in return for a fair level of physical work. It's a great opportunity for people who are keen to stay in a family environment and learn stuff about country living. We usually take helpxers one at a time; sometimes we have two people here.

Our home is within sight of the sea in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are shingle beaches to walk to and steep-sided sandy coves easily reachable by bike (although the roads are hilly!). South Devon is an enormously popular tourist destination from Easter to October, when i... more inside

A "Natural" Building Project in the Scottish Highlands.

Hi HelpXers,

PLEASE NOTE: SCOTLAND HAS BEEN IN LOCKDOWN SINCE MARCH DUE TO THE COVID19 PANDEMIC. AS A RESULT WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS SO FAR THIS YEAR. HOWEVER, THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT IS NOW GRADUALLY EASING RESTRICTIONS, AND WE ARE NOW ABLE TO OFFER PLACEMENTS STARTING IN AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER. WE WOULD BE INTERESTED TO HEAR NOW FROM ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE POSSIBILITY OF JOINING US THEN.

We live in a beautiful wooded glen (valley) near a village called Spinningdale about 50 miles (80 km.) north of Inverness in the northern Scottish Highlands, where we have a 6 acre (2.4 hectare) former croft (a "croft" is a traditional small Highland farmstead).

We are surrounded by 1700 acres (700 hectares) of stunning natural woodland belonging to a conservation body called The Woodland Trust. We help look after the woods as Voluntary Wardens.

Jim is an environmental scientist with a particular interest i... more inside

Looking for helpers to start asap!

My 2 children (age 18 & 19) & I live in a 5 bedroom house (building site) with a large garden & lovely views. We need someone to help with the weeding and other gardening when the weather is fine & do some housework and DIY when it's not (especially painting). If you have any skills in painting & decorating, we could really use them right now. In return you'll have your own room, TV and WiFi and be well fed as we love cooking and baking!

You will need to be fit & strong, like hard work & preferably know the difference between a weed & a (wanted) plant. A good dash of common sense will also go a long way. Must be a non smoker & I am afraid that I cannot host vegans. Either a single person or a couple is welcome; if there are more people, please still get in touch.

Working hours would be around 4-5 hours a day, 6 days a week but this is very negotiable. Work will usually be alone unless it is the school holidays, weekend or after my work... more inside
