We are a couple living in the countryside between Nantes (110km away) and Poitiers (90km).
I am working as a project manager developing organics cosmetics and my husband is a teacher.
Beginning of 2019, we bought an house with a lovely garden (5000 square meters). We love gardening and we have a vegetable garden. We also have a cat and four chicken. So you can have fresh eggs for the breakfast :)

Help exchange is being offered.
We are looking for people interested in plant cultivation. And help with the garden is welcome.
We also want to build ecological dry toilets.
We offered 2 or 3 hours per day of help with the garden in exchange of free accommodation and lunch/dinner with us.

When I was younger, I used HelpX as and helper, when I was travelling around New Zealand and I really enjoyed this experience. I would be glad to use it now as an Host and welcome people in our house.

Hi, Danielle and I (Gilles) are currently building a straw bale house on a charming little hill surrounded by oak trees near Albi (Tarn, 80 km east of Toulouse).
We have recently completed inserting straw bales inside the timberwork and we are now tackling the plastering of the walls.

We need help to plaster the interior walls with clay, before we can work on the interior of the house (electricity, floor, etc.).
Every bit of help is welcome and no particular skills are required, just curiosity, the desire to be part of a construction with natural materials and learn some techniques along the way. Besides, clay is very pleasant and “sensual” to handle!
Both of us being teachers and passionate about our project, we are eager to communicate about it, the choices we made… and issues we had to deal with! So of course, anyone with an eco-construction project will definitely acquire some theoretical knowledge and practical skills by spending some time working with us on our house! ... more inside

Alpaca farm
Our Suri and Huacaya alpacas, two dogs, four cats and us live on a small farm on the edge of a village in central Brittany. It is a peaceful place with a small wood and a stream running through the land. There’s lots of birds here and it’s a rare day that has no birdsong, even in winter.
The weather here is generally mild in winter with more rain than snow. Summer is usually very pleasantly warm.
We're looking for someone who will join us in what we’re doing - everything from feeding the alpacas to collecting poo! You can learn all about these wonderful gentle creatures and how a small alpaca farm works.
Depending on the weather and the time of the year, we could also be fleece sorting, nail trimming, fencing paddocks, putting up animal shelters or doing just about anything else that needs done on the farm to make sure that everyone has the best life possible.
Our main product is alpaca fibre, from fleece to finished product. You can learn about the fleece an... more inside

Helpers sought from late August.

We are Ron and Judi and we have lived in Northern Brittany for over 13 years and shared the last 11 or so of these with our alpacas! We have been joined from time to time by fantastic helpers who have helped us make life at La Grand-Mere even more wonderful!

We always have lots of outdoor work, which at the moment is helping with the clearing of fallen trees, strimming, hedge cutting, constructing a small log and tractor shed and replacing paddock fencing. Later in the season there will be lots of leaf blowing and clearing.
We also have lots of tree work if you have the skills!
Our old bread oven too awaits some loving attention!

Our work can be quite physical so we need strong, energetic, enthusiastic helpers and we would prefer couples rather than singles at the moment.

The focus of our life here is our animals, a small herd of alpacas, a couple of peacocks, chickens, cats and a large flock of doves! For us, the highlight of each da... more inside
