We live in a beautiful small hamlet nestled in the hills of central Portugal. There are four houses which until recently lay abandoned for 60 years. The river Pera runs through the valley (we have a great swimming hole) and a spring delivers our drinking water. We, Miguel and Shobha, live here with our seven year old son, Saul, and four year old daughter, Anaya, and are restoring part of the hamlet and reclaiming the land. We are planting trees, setting up an organic permaculture garden and provide a retreat and workshop space.

Helpers are needed for a vast array of tasks! These include landscaping, clearing, cleaning, cooking, childcare, gardening, tree-felling, pointing, dry-wall restoration ... and more! Accomodation is either in tipis or a self-contained room. The set up is basic but comfortable. We have a solar set up for electricity & wifi. We will also provide 3 nourishing, vegetarian meals. We ask for 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week. We welcome nature-loving, com... more inside

This wonderful place to live and work is situated on the land of Monte Malhadins, a green paradise in between the authentic village of Troviscais (800 mtr) and the river Mira. Here we run a small 'glamping' with 2 safaritents and 2 yurts.
In March we need help to prepare everything for the tourist season, that starts in April. We are looking for one or two men or a couple who would like to help with painting and other work around the tents. Help to put up the tents, clean the land with handtools and bushcutter. This is physical work, you will need sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing.
We would also love someone with experience in preparing our organic vegetable garden and experience in Permaculture.
You will stay in one of our tents, with its own bathroom and kitchen. Good meals (vegetarian) or groceries to cook your own are provided in turn of appr. 30 hours work a week.
We will have lunch and work together, but otherwise you will be mostly on your own.
You need your own tran... more inside

So, hard-working, honest, enthusiastic and creative people: you can stop looking for another host, pack your stuff and come to Faro!

We are accepting helpers for any length of time and we have a variety of different kinds of tasks to be performed, so there will be no room for boredom.

We will provide two meals a day, accommodation and some fun nights out for those willing to work approximately six hours a day, four days a week.

If you believe you are the person we are looking for, don't hesitate in contacting us. We are looking forward to having you in our team.

We are Adam (Web developer) and Sue (chef). We live in the hills of the Algarve, in an old estate with a lake, all situated in a quiet valley. We have been slowly renovating and improving the land here for the last 2 years. We aspire to being organic and self sufficient eventually but need some help to achieve this! We have dogs, cats, and chickens, and hopefully this winter will have some goats too.

We are looking for 1 or 2 fit, energetic, hands-on people to work with us to maintain our lake, create and maintain the garden and trees, rebuild drystone walls, brick & mortar projects, and other general maintenance. In exchange we can offer accommodation and meals. We are omnivores, but happy to cook vegetarian or vegan as required too!

We can offer a skill swap of cooking, programming, and the practical skills that we have learnt along the way so far.

Accommodation is a double or twin bedded room with en suite bathroom, and we have plenty of space for live in vehicles.

We are a dutch couple, living at the edge of a very small village in the center of Portugal.
We have many plans and ideals and are willing to learn every day.

June 2017 there was the big forest fire in the area where we live (Pedrógão Grande) and our house and land burned down completely.

Over winter and spring (2018) a new house was built and we partly recovered the ruine; recently we moved in.
Part of the old kitchen with the ancient wood oven is recovered and in full use for making pizzas and other dishes.

Although there still are many burned trees that needs to be cut, nature is recovering fast.
The land looks different than before the fire, but is still very beautiful and will be paradise again.
There is plenty to do on the land, the former gardens and the forest.

We keep 12 goats at the moment, planning to expand in near future to 20.
Mids Januari new lambs will be born ( we estimate 12). We hope 6 females to enlarge the heard.

We take the goats out ... more inside

Small organic farm with animals. We have a luxury caravan for helpers to stay in(it has an out side bathroom and kitchen area as well as the ones in the caravan. We require person/persons to help run our small farm and duties would be planting, weeding, watering, helping construct animal shelters and feeding of animals. Occasionally looking after the farm over night so we can have a break. Must be dog friendly!!!!!!This is a working farm and as such the proper working cloths and footwear(boots)are essential. In the past helpers who turned up with just flipflops made it clear they were not here to help but to try and have a free holiday. We are not a campsite(FREE) for travelers.Genuine helpers are always welcome. We expect you to pay for yourself on days out although we do provide three good meals a day with drinks when you are on our farm. We have had people who come with no money and expect us to keep them even on their days away from the farm.(we are not your parents)Anyone not s... more inside
