We need help with forest maintenance (brush-cutting, pruning trees (february/march), preparing the vegetable patch, weeding and general maintenance of the buildings/apartments.

Hello! We are Ruurd and Elena. We run a guesthouse/river retreat/bandb in the centre of Portugal. We are open all year round to receive guests and on request we serve our guests breakfast and dinner. We have about 10 ha. (25 acres) of forest, 62 olive trees, a few flowerbeds and we grow our own fruit and vegetables.

We are looking for fit people with a hands on mentality to help us with all sorts of jobs in the gardens, the forest and around the house.
Age 22+, fluent in English or Dutch, with some life and work experience, a good work ethic, presentable, in good physical condition and who are not afraid to get their hands dirty.

We take 1 or 2 volunteers at a time, unless we have a project that requires more volunteers. This means you will need to be able to entertain yourself most of the time. ... more inside

I bought an olive farm 2 years ago near historic Monsanto and after turning the stone barn into a house I'm sorting out the land.

Life is basic and rural here so you would have to be ok with roughing it. I don't have accommodation yet so you would need to bring your own tent or build a wiki-up. Hammocks are good from June to October.
Campers are welcome but they have to be no wider than a transit van or it won't get through the entrance, though you could park on the public track.
I have internet, but no bathroom. Washing involves buckets and heating water in the winter, and in summer showering under the fig tree or a dip in the old stone tank that gets filled from the well.
No toilet yet so you would have to dig like a cat.
Volunteers are welcome to use the kitchen and hang out by the wood stove on cold nights.
I'll provide one meal for 6 hours work, and one day out in the car each week (limited public transport).

In exchange this simple life might help you relax a... more inside

CURRENTLY WE HAVE FREE SPACE FROM MID OF JUNE, BUT VOLUNTEERS WITH THEIR OWN VANS OR CARAVANS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO SEND US A REQUEST.

We are a German (Franz 33) and Polish (Kasia 26) couple who both enjoyed traveling for the last years individually and together. We speak english, polish, german. We are both much interested in organic farming, permaculture and sustainable living. Franz has a Bachelor degree in Biology and we both have successfully taken part in a Permaculture Design Course program. Kasia also likes to practice Yoga and would love to share and exchange the practice experience.

In Oct. 2017 we made our best dream come true and got the land in the heart of Portugal, where we live now with our two cats - Viking and Selma - and a cute dog, Tao. The land had already some basic permaculture principles in its design when we bought it, but there is still a long way to go to turn it into what we imagine. We are setting up a food forest, doing some natural building and p... more inside

This farm is divided in many plots,
its a tradicional way to have land in Madeira in the old days, from the mountains to the ocean.
In some of these plots exist sheds that need to be restored. The land needs to be reactivated to bring back the real potencial so we can collect Gods bountiful fruits.
What I do is Natural Agriculture (PERMACULTURE) i like to keep things simple in general.
My Dream: to create a little oasis all over the land... to share our common experiences, stories, and teachings AND all these incredible, exotic fruits with all you beautiful people!

PLEASE COME TO MADEIRA (The "Flower Island") to share this beautiful-magical world!

Sharing is definitely Caring

This is a "gift economy"-promoting project; pushing the world into a more positive way by thinking outside the box. Next to permaculture, this place is hosting surf-lessons, yoga and meditation retrats - all for free, modelling the gift economy actively.

ABOUT
======================
This is a movement towards sustainability, happiness and positive change with personal growth. I'm offering free food & accommodation as well as tuition in permaculture, surfing, yoga and meditation, while promoting a gift economy and inspiring people to become part of it, breaking the chain and changing the world.

I've travelled a bit for the past 10 years and I'm sick of our economy and how our society pulls us into deep unhappiness without a positive outlook for future generations. So I've decided to do something and started this gift economy movement here in Portugal. The goal here is to create a positive change with a gift economy - and so far it worked! Next to the priceless gratitude w... more inside

We are a dutch couple, living at the edge of a very small village in the center of Portugal.
We have many plans and ideals and are willing to learn every day.

June 2017 there was the big forest fire in the area where we live (Pedrógão Grande) and our house, machinery, equipmwet and land burned down completely.
No compensation from the state, not enough money to rebuild or substitute other things,
but we go on. Steady, slowly and in good faith we'll recover from the blow.

Over winter and spring (2018) a new house was built and we partly recovered the ruine.
Part of the old kitchen with the ancient wood oven is recovered and in full use for making pizzas and other dishes.

Although there still are many burned trees that needs to be cut, nature is recovering fast.
The land looks different than before the fire, but is still very beautiful and will be paradise again.
There is plenty to do on the land, the former gardens, the forest and the house.

We keep 10 goats... more inside

Hi! We are a young couple who run an awesome hostel in the centre of Lisbon.

Our hostel is very small, cosy and familiar so you`ll be able to meet people from all over the world. We are located in Bairro Alto, one of historical Lisbon`s neighbourhood, and the most bohemian neighbourhood.
