We are a family that adopted two children from Romania and we want to have another holiday with them. We want to teach them to socialize with people as diverse as possible, to impel them to a life that is related to nature and nature, to stimulate their creativity and inventiveness, to try to treat their attachment problems, to help them develop self-esteem and confidence per se. All of this can be done with you in an agglutinador project "LETEA-Never Land", which consists in bringing back an old house built in 1932 and putting it in the tourist exchange for families. We need helpers for rebuilt this old bio-house and his gardens with natural materials, wood, reed/bamboo, clay, etc.
We can offer accommodation in our tents or in the old house, solar shower, fully equipped kitchen. Optionally, for leisure, we can talk to the locals for guided visits to the summer forest or to the canals and lakes of the Danube delta, boat rides or motorboats, fishing trips, visits to nearby localit... more inside

hi, i organize a festival in transylvania and would need some help in our efforts to recycle our waste. romanian society is not yet used to do it so we encounter many problems in finding serious people that take this job seriously. we are looking for people to select mostly clean waste coming from the stages that uses aluminum, plastic, glass, cardboard, and sort them into clear bags that can be then given to recycle. it is no easy job, this is why we need conscious serious people.

2018: Very sadly I will be leaving Romania this year (Brexit, OECD, age, health care, etc.) and I have already retired from running tours (see below).

However I will be looking for HelpX-ers for a week or two at a time, at least until September, to help with gardening, packing my belongings for transport to Britain, and preparing my house for sale.

Free accommodation / good food / camping (in summer) and travel advice / support - on a share / help / exchange basis - in an old Saxon smallholding in a village just north of Brasov in South East Transylvania!

Lots of jobs to be done - mostly cleaning / organising / gardening / decorating - for myself and occasionally for my Romanian neighbours. In return I will show you the REAL Romania!

SPECIFIC PROJECTS for which I would like your help include:
1. Gardening.
2. Simple repairs/servicing of a bicycle.
3. Packing belongings for transport to Britain.
4. Painting and decorating of house and front gate.
5. Help with photogr... more inside

SUMMER: I need lots of help! If you like being outside and working in the garden, that would be fantastic. There is plenty to do in the house if the weather has a mood, but it would be good to make the most of this glorious summer.

*************

Come and do the Timewarp in Transylvania... It's a little bubble of rural paradise, 1,000m up in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, where villagers still use horses and carts, make hay with scythes, use traditional smallholding skills and have a simple way of life. I've had a number of HelpXers over the last few years and they've made a fantastic contribution to the house and the garden, for which I'm extremely grateful. For instance: A little gang last autumn dug out a bank in the garden and built a wall and firepit with the tonnes of limestone boulders they unearthed. A couple built a long flight of steps using beams from the old shed; Australian Dave mended fences and chopped firewood; a couple from the UK helped create my stunnin... more inside

Im not receiving any helpers right now, till end of August 2018!!!

Hello dear helpers.

I´m a 30 years old romanian girl born in Sibiu, who moved to this area to live a more qualitative life, with organic grown food, better air/soil and water, less or no hectic, with more animals around me,...

I am very interested in this lovely intercultural exchange, where all can enrich themselves, broaden their perspectives, eat and feel the power of love and nature and make the world a better place to live in...even if it means taking these small steps.

Attention: there are more than three Valisoaras in Romania, this one where i live belongs to the commune of Balsa, in county Hunedoara.
Balsa is a commune composed of fourteen villages: Almasu Mic de Munte, Ardeu, Balsa, Bunesti, Galbina, Mada, Oprisesti, Poiana, Poienita, Rosia, Stauini, Techereu, Valisoara and Voia.
I´m 39km from Orastie. The nearest airport is in Sibiu(119 km from here), but there are more airports which aren't t... more inside

We are a couple of young artists, Bianca and Cezar, who believe in freedom of expression through art. We chose to move away from city life so we can let our creativity flow free and be close to nature.

Our home is in a village at the bottom of Apuseni mountains (we are at around 600m) in a beautiful area which is part of the ancient “Gold road” starting from Rosia Montana, going along the peaks surrounding our village and up to the Dacian fortresses.
The household we bought recently is in relatively good condition despite not being inhabited for the past 10 years, we have around 0.5 ha of orchard (mostly plum trees) and garden areas. We have a solid barn that we plan to turn into a space for workshops, lounge and living; a shed which will be turned into our workspace; a small house-kitchen and 1 bedroom- which needs to be restored and a bigger house where we live.

For this year, we plan to renovate the 2 houses and do all sorts of manitenance work around the property, build... more inside

Hi! I'm Radu, living in the centre of Brasov, and I've been working for a few years now (on and off) on improvements to the house in Sinca-Noua , a nearby village, where I grew up. This year I'm hoping that we can make some real progress at the house, so am looking for volunteers to help in finishing off the building and transforming garden into something beautiful again: generally tidying the place up a bit!

The village is set in the beautiful countryside a short drive through the mountains and forest from Brasov and the house is across the road from a little river and with glorious mountain views, particularly spectacular from upstairs.

I speak Romanian, English and German.

The house in Sinca-Noua needs some work, initially to tidy the garden and inside too, and then to do some light building work - laying some insulation upstairs, fitting some new windows, a little roofing (slipped tiles) generally decorating and finishing the cosmetics of the place as it's still a littl... more inside

In a village called Rosia / Rothberg, near Sibiu, a social NGO assists a segregated Roma community by building houses with local materials and techniques.

Dates: 14th June - 1st August

Accomodation: in the village public school -- please bring your own sleeping bag and mattress!

Food: food is provided, but we cook for ourselves (1 volunteer is responsible with lunch every day)

*** please register at least 2 weeks before your arrival ***
*** please register for at least 1 week of volunteering so we can have a well organised construction site ***

The materials used in the construction of the house are:
- earth and wood for the walls
- we will use straw for the earth mix
- we will bind our own reed mats for insulation
- recycled building materials such as bottles, tiles etc
- if time allows us, we will try to bring some esthetics and liveliness into the project by designing, together with the family, DIY furniture, swings for the children and other deco -... more inside

MAKE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME COUNT: COME AND HELP!

We are a Canadian family living in Romania trying to make a difference in our backyard.

WHY?

Old age in the Romanian countryside is a Horror! No running water, biting cold, no hot meals, being snowed in and unable to leave your home for weeks! Peasant farmers without their extended families are left to fend for themselves.

WHERE?

LISA TELEORMAN is a small town near the Danube in desperate need of a helping hand.

WHAT?

Our team is currently establishing an organic farm to offer financial support to the needs of a pay-as-you-can centre for the elderly in LISA, Teleorman, ROMANIA.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?:

We need to have painters and help to install two bathrooms with showers. If you know how to mix cement, swing a hammer or dig you are welcome! In addition to construction workers, we need help to pull weeds and clear about 4000m2 of farm land that has not been worked for 10 years.

There is an orchard, a fi... more inside
